this is akashi’s shabu shabu joint. didn’t try their shabu shabu though. service is ok as they are always rather empty. menu needs a revamp! many items no longer available. only run of mill items available in their sashimi and sushi sections. it’s better that you stick to their cooked stuff here. pitan tofu was a nice starter, together with fugu mirin boshi which taste like bak kwa. akashabu salad was filled with crunchy sakura ebi. so yummy we ordered an additional plate of sakura ebi. spider maki is their specialty and is always very good. a reverse crunchy soft shell crab sushi roll. tempura moriawase had a good mix of vegetables and seafood. nice batter with fresh ingredients. buta kakuni was ok but the dijon mustard they used spoiled the taste for me. from memory, their yaki meshi used to be bftb. but today’s rice was overly wet which contributed to it being a flop. then again maybe they should just stick to being a shabu shabu place?

Situated on the ground floor across from Subway in Funan IT Mall, this casual Japanese restaurant has gone somehow downhill in recent history. Having dined here many times over the last couple of years recently there have been a few changes. The menus have had stickers placed over every item to denote price changes, while many items are simply listed as NA. That doesn’t come across well to customers, why not just print new menus? Otherwise it looks extremely unprofessional and sloppy. The quality of the food, though while some considerable price rises and missing items still remains consistent. Portions are generous, and set lunches for $ 16 are not only good value though very tasty. Service can seem a little detached and in personal at times. A great place to have a quiet late lunch or dinner. Though, the restaurant can also be a bit noisy when there is promotional events on the main ground floor area of the mall.
