The 10th floor of Orchard Central used to be a carpark. But if you visit it now, it’s this awesome community arts centre(and yes, it’s air conditioned!) 10 Square’s main purpose is to bring the arts to under privileged children. They offer various art classes, from painting, to music, to theatre. This is their second centre, and this one focuses on older children. They are privately funded; if I recall correctly, the Far East Organization gave them this space in Orchard Central as part of their charity efforts. 10 Square runs on donations to keep their programs going and to pay the staff and utility bills. Even if you don’t have a kid who’s taking classes, you can still visit, as they have a café on the premises called«Happy Pancakes». They’re open throughout the day, and half of the proceeds go to the program fund. You can also rent their facilities, as those fees also goes towards the fund. They have dance studios, an auditorium, conference rooms, and practice rooms. Great place if you need a break from all the Orchard Road madness, or if you need an event space in a good part of town!
