Located at the first floor of the NUH medical building is this small store. It was easy to find as there is a big banner with the menu items at the front of the store. I love trying savory crepes so I went to try out their mushroom and cheese crêpe. There were three people in that compact store. Space wise, it is a little too small but it has some seatings for people who would like to dine in. The servers greeted me with a smile — customer service(A+). Then I told them my orders and they took out the batter from a container and started putting it on the hot stone. My order was prepared in less than 5 minutes and was wrapped in a flimsy paper cover and a harder paper cover with colors and wordings at the front of it. Plunged into my first bite and it was crunchy! It tasted like fried quesadilla but with batter instead of flour. You won’t eat the other ingredients at first hand as it was towards the middle to the bottom. After biting the crunchy parts, I managed to taste the two main ingredients I have requested for. They gave generous portion of ingredients in the crêpe and they spread it out nicely. Towards the middle, the crunchy part is more of a softer batter. Not towards soggy yet but it was kind of soft and had to position the ingredients in your crepes before it falls out. Overall, I love it. Just giving them one less star because if I was about to eat those«desserty» crepes, I would probably need to seat myself down and probably need a fork and a foldable plate so that it won’t be messy. I like the interior design. It was simple and attractive. Will definitely be there again :)

Can anyone really decline the offer of a warm, freshly wrapped crêpe, soft warm-centered with perfectly crisped edges? Why would you say no to a guaranteed good time? In fact, I’ll go one further and say that it might be immoral to say no, akin to recoiling when mom reaches out to give you a hug after you’ve been away from home trekking the Himalayas, bungeeing off bridges or stuck in a hole perfecting your latest review for Unilocal! The crepiers [sic?] at Batter invest minutes, days and eventually years of their precious time on Earth to bring you a warm, toasty, crispy treat which you should then have the grace to at least try ONCE… if not repeatedly, which you are likely to do after that first perfect in-store experience. I recommend something pedestrian and almost guaranteed to please for a first time at Batter. Something like the Nutella-Banana, which you should have in-store, the minute it comes off the griddle, is wrapped and presented, an enticing lightly-browned package of chocolatey, hazel nutty, gooey, fruity love. Having something like that to go is to allow passion to cool, lust to wane and joy to fade. Don’t miss that magic moment… have that crêpe fed straight into your waiting maw, straight off the griddle, if possible. All the offerings make some kind of flavor sense, so if you come with an open mind, you’re likely to be in for a treat. Live a little, what’s life without a little uncertainty, a little risk… I mean eating in Singapore, really eating, is all about risking some mild discomfort to experience something truly magical. This element of risk is what characterizes all the wonderful food epiphanies that you’re likely to ever have, whether its fresh urchin roe in a windblown seaside shack in Hokkaido or street-side amid exhaust fumes squatting with a bowl of something magical to your face in Hanoi. So while the crêpes at Batter won’t be quite as risqué or exotic, you’ll certainly not regret dropping by and trading some of your coin for a bit of warmly wrapped love.
