Reviews have not been kind. It has a few problems but the deep fried halibut isn’t one of them. The fish might be the best I’ve ever had. I eat fish and chips often. Forans on Woodward used to be the best around but now I say Kildare is. Chips are average to bad but oh my, that fish.

Finally done with this hole. Walked in on Saturday at 3pm with me, my fiancé, daughter and our two photographers we had hired for our wedding. It is seat yourself, so we did so. With no seating downstairs we headed upstairs. Found a table for 6 and sat down. Waited for service(per usual with this place), the girls walked across the hall to the washroom. A few minutes later a server came up to me and asked if I was part of the party of 5. I said I was part of A party of 5 why? She said she was giving the table to someone else«sorry». I said we have been seated here a few minutes, at which time the rest of my party came back from the bathroom. The server just said sorry. I said no problem, we will go somewhere else. Didn’t even try and find us another spot to sit. Ridiculous, typical Windsor service. I’m done with this place.

Service here is kind however mistakes were made. Food is decent but not a bang for your buck. My shepherds pie was forgotten and came out late with some parts of the mashed potato cold. In addition I was forced to pick my onion rings off a friends plate bc they were put there instead. Kildare house is ok but there are a lot of better food places in windsor. It should be noted that my friends enjoyed their meals.

When I first walked in, there was an instant sense of a classic European pub, complete with rickety and worn old wood floor along with memorabilia all over the walls(extra bonus… we sat in a rugby room!). To top off the ambiance, they have Kilkenny on tap. We were only here for a drink, so I cannot comment on the food(nor does my rating reflect the food). But the service was quick to start and pleasant. The reason for the 4⁄5 stars was the intermittent service after the drinks arrived and the music did not match the atmosphere(but alas the music was not bad).

Someone local recommended we come here and I was really disappointed. For one, it is WAY overpriced. There is no way I am paying $ 15 for a wrap, sorry. Bar food is not supposed to be crazy expensive and from the way this looks inside, I was really shocked. It’s hard to navigate and the service wasn’t great either. Our server basically threw our food down in front of us and stomped away. Never again.

Heard this was the best halibut in town… hard to believe, overbattered, over cooked and tasteless. Twice cooked fries are just plain burnt bits of fries. Lobster Mac and cheese was also tasteless with hardly any cheese… close to Kraft dinner with a sprinkling of lobster. The Strongbow cider was flat. Beer on tap was good as was the waitress, but don’t go for the food.

Pretty good assortment of food. Probably best to go when it’s a weekday before dinner times. Gets really hectic on the weekends after 5. I had the lobster mac and cheese which was delicious but I felt I should have tried a different meal with all the options they had. My boyfriend had the Magglios burger which was really tasty and their fries are so good! Overall service was good and so was the food definitely wanna come back and try something else!

Decent everything here — totally reliable for a good time. It’s not huge so when the live music kicks in it can be pretty loud. I really like the pot pie and the fish and chips. Patio for summer, and quite cozy in winter.

So we arrive with the intention of having a proper«stumble home” — got a room at Kirk’s B&B, planned to spent the entire afternoon/evening drinking Strongbow. We arrived and because of St. Patricks day, they were out. Due to the very diligent work of Danny, they went and got a case from the local store. I am very impressed. I love this place. This is why I come to Canada!

I’d give it a 2.5÷5 but that isn’t an option. Atmosphere is pretty cool if you’re in the right mood. The prices are far too high for the food you receive. It’s standard pub fare at fine dining prices, not exactly sure why that is? Food was very mediocre, and two meals each with 1 drink came to $ 60 which is way higher than any pub I’ve ever ate at. Go there for a drink, skip the overpriced food.

I usually have the fish and chips here, they are amazing and a very large portion. I decided to try something different and go for the stake sandwich. It was cooked perfect(medium rare) a nice 10oz on a full bun. The waitress was great and very friendly, even moved us to a better table so we could fit all food.

Great neighborhood pub. The fish and chips may look pricey(upwards of $ 19) but it covers the plate and comes with great fries and slaw on the side. The beer selection is respectable.

Waited 40+ mins for breakfast and was brought the wrong food. They ran out of white toast. Hash browns look like bottom of the bag pieces — too tiny to even pick up with ur fork. Coffee and refills were cold each time. My husband was served a half raw piece of bacon. Doubt I’ll ever be back!

Came in for drink and lunch. The waitress accidently brought us an extra Caesar so no complaints there, they were a little spicy so I recommend telling them how spicy you want it. the caesar salad was extra creamy and fishy than most I’ve had but still good, mozzarella sticks were awesome. We were only checked on once and it wasn’t that busy of a day. I would still go back and try the fish everyone talks a out!

After many visits the consistent features include poor/discourteous/slow service, almost no consistency in the food quality, temperature or speed with which it reaches you, and a near complete lack of understanding on behalf of the ownership as relates to the history of the UK and Ireland and their interactions. The prices are also on the high side.

I might return just to drink, if all other options were gone. But the food here was seriously sad. I came here as part of a group of four and we shared four dishes. Everything we ate was off: we didn’t finish any of the items, despite arriving hungry. The only marginal success for me(and I was in the minority believing so) was the nearly cheeseless Lobster Mac & Cheese. I prefer mac & cheese with very little cheese, but most people would find it lacking. To be fair, this dish was also presented with quite a bit of lobster meat. However, it wasn’t enough to make up for the tasteless fish(Fish & Chips), the funky-tasting Chicken Wings and the slimy Irish Nachos. I’ve enjoyed pubs and pub fare from Dublin to Limerick and around the world, and I know what it should be. Though Kildare House has made an interesting attempt at a classic pub menu with some twists, execution fell flat. The ambiance here is charming and inviting. The service, though lackluster, did the job. The food, however, is not up to snuff. At least the booze arrived as described. I know what’s in store if I go back.

Walking into the restaurant was a bit surprising. I’ve been in house restaurants before that really know how to organize and redecorate, but here — it was like stepping into a middle of a house party? I don’t know how else to describe it. The lights were dim which I usually don’t like but it was a gloomy, rainy day so I didn’t mind it much. I didn’t notice after my meal but the ceiling in one of the rooms is the UK flag which I thought was pretty cool. I ordered the their award-winning fish and chips because of the pictures I’ve seen here on Unilocal. The fish is HUGE! Pictures are accurate! The fries are fantastic :) I don’t like coleslaw or tartar sauce so I didn’t touch either. Now, the fish was good — at first. It flaked really well and some of the batter is nice and tender and easily able to cut through. SOME. I say some because other parts were… difficult. As I kept eating, the batter chipped off into huge pieces. There was way too much! The corner pieces of the fish were tough and sinewy. I was surprised I wasn’t eating a steak! The fish was good aside from those things, but I don’t know if it should be called award-winning. The service was nice. The waitresses were friendly, very sweet, and accommodating. I would come here again for the fries and MAYBE try something new.

Well, there sure were a lot of townies here. I liked that much. And the guitarist in the corner singing«One Great City,» by the Weakerthans made my evening. Those are the 2 stars. But the acoustics are horrible. It was so loud I couldn’t shout loud enough to have a conversation. The beer list is terrible. Why can’t you find good microbrews in Windsor? It is the most vanilla of the vanilla here, except for a red beer from Walkerville itself, a bitter English beer, and the Rickard’s. Newcastle is not a «good» beer. And worst of all, there was no soap in the men’s room. That just kills me. If I were a Windsorite looking for a pub, I’d drive across the tunnel, deal with the jerkoffs guarding the border, and head straight to Foran’s or one of the 1000 other better pubs we have over here.
