Me and five others were on our way back to Washington from Vancouver, and stopped in «White Rock too have a bite to eat. We actually were looking for something else in the same parking lot, but one of us had to pee, and Jimmy Flynn’s was closer, so we stopped in. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by our server. I don’t remember her name, but she was very nice. She took our drink orders, and then I asked if the bar had a shirt I could buy(I wanted a souvenir.) She was not sure if they had any, but offered to go ask her boss. A couple minutes passed, and they bring our drinks, and the owner comes out, to address my question about the shirt. He tells me the do have shirts, but they’re at the other location. We were then making plans to swing buy the other place on our way out, because it was on our way, and we had passed it earlier that day, so we knew where it was. Out of NOWHERE the owner comes out with a handful of Jimmy Flynn’s St. Patty’s Day 2015 shirts; one for all 6 of us. He starts handing out the shirts, and I ask if I owe him anything, and he said no, just tell your friends about us. I told him I would tell everyone I knew, and I shook his hand. Then we got our food. My In-laws split the pulled pork sandwich, My sister in-law had the Celtic Mac and Cheese, her boyfriend had the fish and chips, my fiancé had the Celtic Mac and Cheese as well, and I had the Cottage Pie. All of us thought what we had was amazing! When our food was brought out, they brought out three mac and cheeses by accident, and quickly fired my cottage pie, and brought me out a plate of fries to hold me over. They brought my food out within five minutes. I was blown away with how fast they brought my food out, and the fact that they brought out a plate of fries for me to snack on until my food came out; who does that? That doesn’t happen too often here in Washington. After we paid our bill, we couldn’t stop thanking our server enough, and she couldn’t stop thanking us either. The whole experience was great, and we have made this place a staple for White Rock. We are even trying to see when we can fit in another trip up north, and this will definitely be one of our stops.

It was my first time to try this restaurant. I went on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago in a very nice weather. I was sitting at a patio. The view was very nice facing the beach. The service was good. I ordered a dish of fish and chips as the waitress said it was on sale. The fish and chips tasted fine. Fries were not very crispy though. The coleslaw salad was probably sitting in the kitchen or under a hot weather for a long time. The taste of the coleslaw salad was funny or weird, so I did not continue eating it. I did not bother asking the waitress to change it for me. I heard that this restaurant has great brunches. Maybe I should try them next time.

On a chilly Saturday evening I took a walk and ended up in the warmth of Jimmy Flynn’s. It wasn’t overly busy, probably because it wasn’t beach weather. The staff were efficient and welcoming. I took a seat at the bar and enjoyed Kilkenny on tap and chose crab cakes for a snack. I really enjoyed the tasty crab cakes that served with crispy wontons — delicious! A fun evening made better by the friendly young women working the bar. I’ll be back!

This is my second go at JF’s My first experience was terrible but after being reached out to by the owner we were invited back to give them a second chance. The food was good, service friendly and knowledgable. I really enjoyed my visit. I had the Yorkie, which was delish. I recommend ordering a side of gravy because as Yorkies go, they can get a tad dry. I will be back because I saw some of my favourite comfort foods on the menu that I’ll have to try. Thanks to the owner for the hospitality, what you did made a huge difference!

Little bit pricey, but very nice patio overlooking the ocean. We ordered fish&chips and their house salad, food is alright, taste of a salad was very different from anything I tried before, not for everybody :) Very friendly waitress though!

My fiancée and I have been here twice and both times we have had good service and really decent food. We have discerning taste and we would never visit a substandard establishment for a second time. Pull up a stool, order a Guiness or a Harp’s Lager(our favorite) and relax with some tasty pub grub. Cheers!!!

We went with a group of 6(8 if you count the two young kids with us) yesterday for an Easter DInner(perhaps a rather unorthodox Easter Dinner). The food was delicious. I had the cod and chips. The fries were fantastic the cod was pretty tasty, and the tartar sauce was perfect(that can really make or break fish & chips, in my experience). It was two good sized pieces of fish and a whole bunch of fries, very generous portions. My wife had the guinness pulled pork which was also fantastic. It had rosemary in it, which was quite unique. Certainly some of the best pulled pork I’ve ever tried. The other folks in our party had the stuffed yorkie(yorkshire pudding), curry and risotto, and the mushroom soup. They all loved their food as well. Overall, the food was fantastic, we were very pleased. Unfortunately that wasn’t the whole experience. We had a reservation, and the table was ready… considering the rest of the service we received, that was pretty impressive. The service was poor. Our waitress was beyond annoyed that there were two kids with us(though it was plenty early) and didn’t hide it well. It took forever to get water refilled(I think at least twice I nosily sipped the last bit of water through my straw right in front of the waitress and it was still quite some time(10+ minutes) before she came with water. It was a good 15 – 20 minutes we waited once the check came, and finally to pay we had to track down the waitress to even pay. It was frustrating. It was a bit busy, but not overly so. Very unimpressed with the service. But I think the food made up for it…

******* I finally got a chance to use the GC that Paul sent me after my initial bad experience. This time the service was much better. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable; she made good recommendations for both food & wine. The food was good, it’s definitely pub food not fine dining, but good pub food. I am glad we went back as this place is much better than what I first experienced. Kudos to Paul for getting us back in the establishment; I respect a restaurateur who knows how to treat customers. I/we will be back. ******I received a message from the owner Paul regarding my review. He has offered up a GC to give his establishment a 2nd chance. I find it very impressive that he reads and responds to his reviews. I have not rec’d this GC yet, but I will definitely revise my review afterwards. Most incompetent service I have ever experienced. After waiting for way too long to receive menus, we were then ignored while the servers wandered around. Two tables came in after us and finally a server came out to the patio and took their orders without asking if we needed help. As she walked inside without even uttering a word to us we asked if we could order and she had the gall to say No. Needless to say we got up, expressed our displeasure and left. I will never step foot into this establishment again. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade and this is just unacceptable. F this place!!!

OK, so I have been to Jimmy Flynn’s a few times, and always enjoyed myself. Maybe that was a result of all the booze I had ingested. Not to be too tough on them; I do absolutely adore the staff, atmosphere, ambiance and beer on tap. Unfortunately this was the third time the food was barely ok, and come on, the wine prices are absurd. I tried the lamb poutine, which was pretty good except there was barely any cheese. The stuffed yorkies were totally burnt, tasted aweful and the sauce was super sweet and too heavy, along with the pressed deli style roast beef, not at all the warm and rugged comfort food I imagined. The wine glass prices are wayyyyy over the top, more than most of the restaurants on the beach. The bottle prices arn’t too bad, so I do understand their philosophy on upselling. And again, I do love the atmosphere and staff, really friendly, upbeat and welcoming.

Great atmosphere, friendly patrons and staff, excellent food. The full breakfast was perfect. This place is first on my list the next time I’m back in White Rock.

The lamb braised poutine was really good, but could do with much more cheese! Harp on draft is always good after a warm summer day. The patio is cozy and overlooks the water. Dinner on a summer Sunday — I’ll be back!

My girlfriend and I ate breakfast at Jimmy Flynn’s Celtic Snug during the 2011 Spirit of the Sea Festival. We had never heard of it, and Irish isn’t exactly something that comes to mind when you think of «breakfast» but a marketing rep gave us a buy 1, get 1 free coupon for breakfast, so we figured we’d hit it up. It is located right on Marine Drive, which is the«Ocean Drive» of White Rock. When we arrived, the place looked pretty legit, although something I saw on the menu was a little odd. Despite being an «Irish» restaurant, they were serving Black and Tan Beer Battered Onion Rings. Black and Tan Beer«is not a drink commonly consumed in Ireland.» Because of the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force(nicknamed the Black and Tans) which was sent into Ireland in the early 1920’s. They«became notorious through its numerous attacks on the Irish civilian population.» There was also an English flag hanging over the bar, so maybe they’re not all that Irish? My girlfriend ordered the Waterford Smoked Salmon Omelet with herbed cream cheese and pumpernickel toast. She loved it. I enjoyed the traditional Irish Breakfast with eggs over easy, pan fried potatoes, homemade sausage, back bacon, black pudding, sliced tomatoes, English-style baked beans and soda bread. Everything tasted legit; it wasn’t like they just ordered sausage and served it. The waitress said a lot of the ingredients were made in-house, and I feel very comfortable believing that. Nothing looked like something I could get at a store, or take out of a box. We ate outside and the view was wonderful. There was a great breeze and overall I would recommend the place for anyone who wants to try some quality Irish/English food.

Went for a drive to White Rock on a Thursday afternoon for lunch, wanting to try something totally different, we decided to stop in at Jimmy Flynn’s celtic snug for lunch. Don’t be fooled by your first impression when you walk in, it is «snug» for sure but the food has enormous flavour and friendly service. I am not a lamb fan, but I decided to try their poutine. When it came, the serving size was huge and had a rich lamb and guinness gravy with bits of lamb in it, as well as cheese. Absolutely delicious. My daughter had the lamb stew in a sourdough bowl, she rated it a 5 out of 5 as well. We left totally stuffed and satisfied.
