My friend who lives in the area brought me and another friend at Cielo’s. We were early. Just about 3 tables were filled. Ambience and service were excellent and the food is awesome. Everything we ordered were delicious. My personal favourite is the bruschetta. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Omg everything here was amazing! The portions are a good size too, bigger than anticipated. We started with the wild mushroom risotto with a decorative balsamic and pesto sauce. So delicious, I could eat a whole bowl :) Then amazing pesto mussels with white wine and leeks. Flowed by the Korean ribs, a spicy kimchi and jasmine rice. Then since we were here to celebrate my mom’s birthday they were kind enough to bring a mini chocolate soufflé with a molten centre, wow! We will be back for dinner and with more people. :) Our server was great too, she was super sweet.

Had a late lunch today with Merian — not only a beautiful view of the beach but great tapas. We started with a prawn and scallop plate with onion crisps and pea shoots in a paprika? or chipotle? sauce that was nicely cooked and balanced. When I asked for bread to soak up the sauce they brought some grilled bread covered with olive oil, balsamic reduction, and pesto that was incredible and really added to the flavour of the sauce. We ordered a vegetarian flatbread but they didn’t have the correct bread so the waitress suggested the chicken masala flatbread — this was really excellent with a warm but not overpowering curry although Merian wasn’t wild about the cilantro. We finished with a wild mushroom risotto — a new favourite risotto for me! This was all served in a leisurely manner that matched the ambience of the location. However if you are in a rush this may not be your favourite place.

This is hands-down the best restaurant in all white rock. The food is delicious and the sangria is my favorite.

Dishes were creatively prepared and absolutely delicious! Had the bruchetta, risotto, and I don’t remember what else because it was 2 months ago :(What I do remember is that we spent nearly 3 hours in the restaurant eating, sipping wine, and enjoying the ambience. All in all, an amazing experience…

3.5 star The ambience is nice. The restaurant isn’t very big so it feels cozy and intimate. Maybe little too cozy since it we felt little bit cramped getting into our seats. The service was little spotty. It wasn’t bad but we felt like it could have been little bit better. She could have come around to little more, maybe smiled little bit more. The food is delicious, however, the portions are pretty small. The prices are moderate but however, because the portions are quite tiny, I felt that like we didn’t really get the value for our buck. We ordered the bruschetta because it came highly recommended from a friend and I have to say bruchetta was the biggest hit for me. I could taste the subtle saltiness of the cheese and the pesto on the bread and they complimented each other quite nicely. And the portion of the bruschetta was actually not too bad. Korean short rib had 3 pieces of bone in short ribs and tiny bit of slaw. On the menu it stated that it would come with Kimchi and I didn’t see that at all. Usually Korean short ribs would be marinated in a sauce and grilled. I didn’t taste any of its Korean sauce. Mediterranean tenderloin came with garlic mashed potato and about 10 sliced up pieces of tenderloin. Mashed potato was really good but it would be hard to mess up a mashed potato. We also ordered tenderloin poutine and unfortunately, the fries were little too soft and soggy but with the gravy and cheese curds, it still tasted really quite yummy. For anything with meat, it seemed like the portions were tiny for what they cost. I have to dock couple star for that one. Ambience: 4 Food: 3 Service: 3 I will probably return and would like to sample more of their menu. It does seem like a good place to come for a date night or a night out with the girls but come expecting smaller portions of food. I guess though that is what tapas is supposed to be like.

Okay. So we used to LOVE this place. We would always bring anyone who was coming to town to Cielo’s however service and food quality has gone down since it has been sold :(We now go down to their new joint«Five Doors Down» which is literally five doors down. lol. too bad this place was amazing back in the day.

What kind of restaurant has NO highchair at all, especially in such a busy area. Tried to dine here, told them we were bringing an infant while making our reservation and they never mentioned that they had no high chair. We ended up walking down the road to eat at Pearl.

I’ve been a here a few times in the past and have looked forward to another visit. Finally this part Saturday I made it. Daughter and I settled on the steamed mussels with white wine/pesto & the ‘famous’ bruschetta. I really believe my eyes rolled back in my head, the flavours were THAT amazing. The pesto was spot on(not oily, just densely flavorful), the mussels plump and juicy and the broth, well I just wanted to eat it with a spoon when the mussels were gone. It’s plentiful, so you might want to see if you can extra bread to sop it up. The bruschetta really lived up to the ‘famous’ moniker IMO. We were both very pleased we chose Cielo’s for lunch and will be back sooner than later. As for service, we were well taken care of. Robert was polite, friendly and helpful with our questions. It was really quiet in the restaurant(2 or 3 other tables of 3 or 4 patrons) as it was early and a cloudy, cold day, but it made for a nice peaceful meal and everyone seemed really well taken of. Hat’s off Cielo’s! You’re my White Rock(non-fish & chip) favourite!

Amazing food as always — however, our waiter(Kerry) was unattentive at best. We were never asked how our food was, or if we would like to order more wine, food or dessert. We had to track him down to order dessert as well to get our bill. Each time we found him standing around talking to other staff. I was very disappointed as this is my favourite restaurant and have always had an incredible experience. The food did not disappoint and I will return. I just hope the service returns to the caliber that I am used to there. While we were dining, my open table reservation was cancelled despite us being there thus preventing me from reviewing on open table.

So refreshing to visit the White Rock strip on a chilly fall evening. Gone are the masses of people and everything slows down. While trying to decide where to eat the cozy warm atmosphere of Cielo’s drew us in. The idea of tapas with friends was also a winner. All the tapas are moderately priced and the menu is sectioned out nicely. All the tapas were more than enough to feed four hungry adults. We opted for the wild mushroom risotto served with pea shoots and grana padano, a couple of flatbreads; the chorizo and sweet masala chicken. A few oysters on the half shell; we were skeptical as it was a sunday night and we were worried about freshness and but were happy to hear that they receive their oysters daily. We also had the bruschetta, lobster pasta and the prawn and scallops Everything was fantastic. We’ll be back.

Pretty fantastic food, friendly staff and prompt service. How much more could you ask for? Oh, a view of the pacific ocean? Done. Aquarium right next to your table? You got it. Food made right behind you by a chef who knows his craft? Yep. Pretty amazing place with beautiful wood tables and romantic ambience. I definitely recommend this for dates and getaways. Enjoy!

Obviously the best thing to do on the first REALLY nice Saturday of the year is to go on an impromptu adventure to White Rock. Having never been, it was certainly an interesting way to spend the afternoon: observing the muscled, tattooed shirtless White Rock warrior accompanied by his scantily clad girlfriend in their natural habitat makes for fascinating sociological insight into our collective cultural regression. We ended up at Cielo’s in that awkward post-lunch, pre-dinner period, so it wasn’t too busy and we managed to score the last few seats on the patio. Patio seating is very tight, so not the best idea if you like to actually be able to push your chair back more than an inch. I won’t go into an item-by-item analysis of the food, but generally speaking, almost everything we ordered was tasty and freshly prepared. There was one sushi roll thing that was less than stellar(surprise!), but apart from that it was an enjoyable meal. We ordered 3 items between 2 people, including the vegetarian flatbread, and that was more than enough to fill us up. They market themselves as a «tapas» restaurant, but at the risk of sounding bougie, the prices are a bit high and the items a bit too large to qualify as true tapas in my mind. Drinks were expensive too, but the view was lovely and service was good so it all balances out.

We came before the dinner crowd around 4:30 pm and the place was really quiet, quaint and pleasant to be around. The service was prompt, polite and consistent. Manager was super, super, nice and stopped by our table a few times to check in on us asking us if we wanted coffee or dessert after our meal. We ordered the chicken skewers with peanut sauce which were well cooked and moist(sauce needed more peanut), the bowl of salad(huge portion and could use a bit more tomatoes), shrimp«in a cup», risotto(yum) and some bread(they charge). Portions were good but design/layout of the food is a bit too much as the balsamic vinegar is used as decoration on many of the plates that is drizzled is random weird shapes that is not that pleasant to look at. For the most part, our visit was nice but seeing the hostess clean the culinary with a coffee filter after she put it on her head as a joke was not very hygienic in my opinion.

Not knowing where to go, and parked along this area but not wanting a meal for each individual and looking for ‘shared’ foods, we found this little charming place along the Drive. A quick stare inside, and at the menu and we knew we found our place to conversate for the night at hand, the menu has a wide range of menu ‘shared’ items, and our orders were as such: — Caesar Salad This came in a big wooden salad mixing bowl, pretty much filled to the brim with leaves, a little overly dressed with caesar sauce, with a nice lemon wedge that seemed to continue to swim in the bowl while we were eating. Two long pieces of twist bread were standing within the bowl, and amongst the three of us, a great starter. The sauce was creamy, but not overly ‘heavy’ but zesty even without squeezing the lemon. A great dish to share, to start, or even a meal, there was quite a bit. — Pickled Tiger Prawns When we put this order in, our server advised us that they were served cold(their variation) just to make sure, as I guess they have had cokmplaints or expectations. The plate came out, presented nicely, on one long white plate with a glass on it’s side as if someone poured the cup, and out came the bing tails of tiger prawns. Laid on a bed of fresh spinach, the prawns were a good appetizer, each of us had at least 3 if not 4, they were big, and there was just enough herbs and spices to still taste the freshness of the prawns. — «Only Ocean» Crab Cakes This dish came in 3 pieces, and it was filled with seafood, these small round breaded nuggets were filled with seafood. Not just crab, but once you bit in, you can taste the prawns and scallops. They came with a side mustard colored sauce that tasted a little like curry, mixed with a little sweet, but this dish did not need anything. When putting a fork to separate a piece, the thing would crumble, and reveal all the different ingredients that make up this crab cake. If you are here, order this dish, very different from any crab cake I have had anywhere else. — Brie Wheel This dish came last, served with a few pieces of their navajo bread, and lying on the bottom of this plate was a mixture of their balsamic nectar. The brie was heated soft, almost spreadable on the bread. The bread was a hit, shaped like cartoonish shapes, a great mixture of flavours, from the balsamic, brie and bread, even though we were practically stuffed from the above three dishes. For drinks, we had their house made sangria, a great order, as it is filled with fruits, for after you have drank your cup and you like to pick on things, the presentation, and taste of everything in here makes me wish that there were more places like this back in Vancouver. The place is a little cramped from where I was sitting. A highly elevated table, with elevated chairs near the front patio, facing a wall. The table was fine, but when the next table behind us came, I felt pinned down in my seat, and unable to move. They definitely pack this place, and if you are coming next time, just remember to call ahead for a reservation. The patio has a few tables, but nothing I could see that would support a big party. Great food, and if your looking for a place to talk, and share, this would be it if your around the White Rock area.
