Every time I come for a visit, I have to have the smoked salmon hash here. It’s one of my favourite things to eat for breakfast. They do serve other stuff and my freind always likes how breakfast as well. also has greatatmoaphere on the patio looking at the ocean.

We went Jan’s On The Beach for brunch because of the good reviews it has on Unilocal but turned out the most disappointing dinning experience ever. We ordered — Mimosa — Caesar — Coffee — Traditional Breakfast — Salmon Egg Benedict — Roasted Brussels Sprouts — Deep Fired Calamari — Smoked Salmon Hash Mimosa was good and coffee is not bad too. We ordered regular brunch and nothing was fancy but it took them 40 minutes to bring the food on our table. Toast in transitional breakfast looked pitiful. It was like been there for a few days. According to my friend, calamari was over cooked and it was firm like rubber band. 19CAD for a smoked salmon hash is ok but there were just very few pieces of salmon. I seldom gave bad review but sorry, this one just disappointed me so much. I don’t think me and my friends would ever go back there again.

Saturday evening went to Jan’s, we had the Bison Burger and Beef Dip. The Bison burger was so small, dry and no taste, small, my goodness with a white spot bun and for 18 Bucks don’t order this, you kidding me, fixings were like 1 piece of lettuce and 1 tomato, a drop of sauce, never again… The beef dip, the same bun, Really, the beef was ok, salad add no dark green leaves, not that that was an issue, but dark mix is usually what you see. The service was very good, she discounted the bill for us. Live music was wonderful. Service and Music would bring me back, but would try other items on the menu, and hopefully better food experience. KJ

We dropped by Jan’s for dinner early Saturday evening on a sunny day and it was fantastic! We had a wide variety of dishes and shared them amongst each other. The standouts were the seafood risotto and lamb chops. Absolutely delicious. We met Jan and she was great and we got the sense she was very passionate about the restaurant and what she prepared. There was also a guitarist/live music in the background who added to the great mood. Everything is made in house including the Dijon mustard for the charcuterie plate which was perfect for our tastes. Not too spicy! Strongly recommended!

We tried this place coz of the good reviews this restaurant have. When we got in, it took a good 10 mins before someone took our drink and food orders. Then it took at least 40 mins to have our food on our table. We simply ordered traditional breakfast, eggs Benedict, calamari, brussel sprouts. You know it is bad when a food court Opa calamari is better than what I had here. The calamari was not seasoned and it is super tough(overcooked). My jaw really hurts after eating. Looking atound, we can see how frustrated the other customers are with the service and food. I will not recommend this place.

Walked by & the food looked amazing, along with the view. We ordered a bottle of wine that the server recommend & the specials, Risotto & Tenderloin with potatoes. Ordered medium rare, if hadn’t taken 45 minutes to arrive, would had sent it back, was rare & blue cold in the middle. Risotto was starchy & dry. Server told us, we just missed the rush… seemed this meant, we were late & got leftovers & lazy service. The wine was over priced, the server also told us that she bought it on sale by the case at a local store. Drove from Bellingham to White Rock for a special day & was a let down.

Great food and amazing service. The menu has a lot of options and the wine list is good– and well priced. Awesome live music… Nice warm patio. Calamari and brussell sprouts were both delicious. We had our 2.5 and newborn with us and they were so accommodating– can’t wait to go back without kids!

We went for the gf fish and chips. Reviews were good and we were really excited. We made a reservation. The place was empty. The food was awful. The fish over cooked and a hard inedible mess. The coating was hard and even the fries were lousy. There were 5 of us. We left feeling totally sucked in by the reviews. Paid 100.00+ and we won’t return. I was just directed to This restaurant by a pop up ad on allrecipes. It reminded me. That is why I am reviewing this today.

Nice patio, but food was not good. They brought us a pasta dish that was FROZEN solid in the middle. Disappointing to say the least. Won’t be back.

I enjoyed there food and staff thoroughly. I got the half order of eggs bene and it was still a good sized meal. I also ordered a mimosa, good champagne to orange juice ratio. Overall happy with the food and service and will be back!

A wonderful restaurant with a lovely view. The staff is well mannered and welcoming. The food, mouth-watering to say the least. They were more than happy to make adjustments to the menu items(in my case I asked for blue cheese in the spring salad). The salmon and prawns here are grilled to perfection. At this time, they have a hazelnut roasted Halibut; delicious! The atmosphere was great; mood lighting set by dim lights and tabletop candles; the sound of a jazz trumpet in the background, the breeze of the sea blowing through your hair.

Came for brunch this morning, and it was pretty disappointing. Our drink orders were forgotten. I ordered the French toast, which was advertised as french bread. I got sourdough. Yuck.

Happy hour drink prices were okay. Outdoor seating was great in cold weather — love the pillows and blankets. My problem was the portion size. We ordered a cup of chowder for $ 6 and it was TINY. It was tasty, but for the size, it really should have been $ 3 – 4 max.

We went here for brunch and got there before 10:30am which was good because it started to get really busy right after we arrived. We were seated outside and our server turned on the heat for us since it was a bit chilly. Great eggs Benedict… good service. Nice ambiance. Will be back when we’re in the area. Also, the view of the ocean can’t be beat.

It’s too bad, I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, one mistake after another led to my 2-star rating. We came for dinner. When we arrived, we were only one of two tables being used at the time. The views and atmosphere on the patio are wonderful. First the side dish was forgotten to one meal. No one was readily available to flag down, as all the servers were chatting in the back of the restaurant. Eventually we flagged one down, and everything was sorted out. Now for the real issue: The food. I tried a bite of everything on the table, so I can comment first hand on how everything tasted. To be perfectly honest, the bison burger and the mussels were fantastic. But unfortunately, nothing else was. The fish and chips were heavily overcooked. The fish was really overdone and chewy, and the fries just to the point where you had to gnaw on them. How do you screw up fish and chips? Each of us had an order of fries, and each one was overcooked. About halfway through our meal, two staff from the kitchen decided to take a break, plop themselves down at the table next to us, and chat with each other. By this time, we were the only busy table left in the restaurant. Why they would choose to sit right next to the only occupied table in the whole restaurant is beyond me, and it made us all feel uncomfortable. It was just so out of the ordinary to have the kitchen staff kick back in the chair next to us as if we weren’t even there. It’s kind of like the co-pilot leaving the flight deck and lounging next to you in first-class. Strange. We all found it most unprofessional. The servers don’t seem to have enough training, and seemed kind of oblivious. There were a few situations that just didn’t add up, and service was slow overall. Overall, some of the food was excellent, but some was lousy. Service was bizarre and a little unprofessional. –Overcooked food –Slow service –Unprofessional staff +Some food was excellent +Great atmosphere 2-stars overall.

***Cute lil brunch place near the water in White Rock!*** Came here with the bf for brunch on a Saturday morning. It was still a wee bit too chilly to sit outside but they have a nice patio with the heaters turned on. I think we were the first ones there at 10:30 but the place quickly filled to a medium capacity while we were seated. The server was really nice and cheerful. She told us about the specials, one of which I soon opted for. Pulled Pork Eggs Benny tasted just as fabulous as it sounds, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The potatoes were done just the way I like them — crispy, not oily at all, and salted just right. The Eggs Benny eggs were poached medium, as requested, and the pulled pork on top was just heavenly. The other specials sounded amazing… it was too bad I didn’t have a bigger appetite! They were strawberry waffles and a chorizo omelette. Definitely will put this on my list of places to go in South Surrey for brunch. And I need to return when the weather is better! They also had some $ 5 Sangria special, as well as a mimosa special for the morning. If I was more of a boozehead, I would definitely sit on this patio and enjoy some drinks, the sunshine, and the lovely ocean view. :)

You can tell that the chef puts a lot of heart into her plates and loves what she does. The service was exceptionally friendly, informative and we were very well taken care of. I would recommend this cute little restaurant if you’re looking for something you haven’t tried on the Promenade.

With a few options on the menu, we ordered the traditional breakfast with eggs, meat and choice of toast or potatoes(I had toast which turned out ok and would have been better with real butter vs margarine and my boyfriend ordered potatoes which tasted worse than a school cafeteria’s version) Everything needed salt and pepper and the bacon, ham and sausage we ordered looked like it came from the freezer. We were disappointed with the food, but ate outside and the view was amazing and fun to people watch. Coffee and service was good! Server could use some extra help as they were short staffed and we were informed they usually are. Wouldn’t come here again but might have to since this is one of the only few places open on a Sunday around 9:30 a.m.
