I came here for lunch on a sunny Saturday after catching up with a friend for a long walk along the Ambleside seawall so I was pretty hungry. The décor is typical of a brunch place but the finishing touches with lots of metal statues and works of art give this place a nice flavour. Also they have a large TV mounted on the wall that plays videos of French Riviera which puts everyone in a good mood! The service was friendly and quick. We were seated on high tables close to the kitchen, giving us a great people watching opportunity. I started off with a Chai Tea which was served in a nice teapot but was just a teabag, and a bit disappointing. I ordered buckwheat truffle crêpe which was served with a side of green salad. There was an abundance of truffles and nice savoury sauce so needless to say I’ll be back to try more of this delicious goodness.

Great crepes and good service but measly portions and cheap On the fillings. Crazy busy for Sunday brunch and they won’t take reservations so get there at 9am or be prepared to wait half an hour minimum.

Lovely place, great food and perfect location. Found this place on Unilocal and decided to check it out. I had a delicious and very tasty truffled mushroom benny as brunch and a very good sugar– free chocolate mousse as dessert. Beside the good food, staff was great and the place itself is small but very cozy. I also love the location in West Van. The only thing I wasn’t very happy was the waitlist to get a seat. We entered there expecting to see a hostess, but instead there was a paper to put my name there. It was quite confusing.

I really try not to give low ratings, but I was so disappointed in my experience here. Boyfriend and I decided to come here after seeing mostly great reviews and a testimony from a friend that this was a favourite brunch place for him and his girlfriend. We were seated down right away and got our drinks fairly quickly. However, the food took a little over an hour to come with no follow ups from our server from the delay, or to come by and fill up our water or ask if we wanted any more coffee. Yet, the other tables were getting their orders within a reasonable time, though they were seated around the same time as us and were being followed up on. We got our food and received no follow up from the servers. We tried to get the bill and the servers were walking past us going to other tables. After we left, my boyfriend said that he noticed the servers looking at us but they did not come. It took us about 10 minutes to finally get the bill. I was honestly just relieved to leave at that point. Not returning.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. The rudeness is unacceptable given such a competitive industry. We phoned to reserve a table which we arrived in the time we reserved for, being seated right away and served menus. We sat 10 – 15 minutes deciding on what to order, when after confirming our name and party number we were told they made a mistake and we had to leave. They made no effort to accommodate us and said her rudeness was her«French» way. They did us the favour we ate at a nearby establishment which had a far better menu, way better prices and far exceeded in service. Thank you for doing us the favor and confirming we will never eat at your establishment to experience such rudeness.

We ordered the truffle linguini($ 20), seafood pasta($ 19), hamburger, truffle risotto($ 22), and Croque-monsieur. The truffle pasta was quite rich. The taste of truffle could have been stronger with a lighter cream sauce, I think. My husband likes his burgers well done, and this burger has to be one of the best cooked burgers I have ever seen. The patty was thick, well done, and still juicy. It was pretty amazing, and my husband says it was the most delicious burger he has ever had. It wasn’t cheap. it was close to $ 16. The Croque-monsieur looked good as well. I think you would do better to get breakfast items and sandwiches.

Great brunch today at the back patio(it exists). 5 adults, 3 kids and a baby. Our hostess(I presume the co-owner) was absolutely lovely. She showered us with attention and helped with all our needs. Brunch itself was great. My wife loved the Truffle crêpe. It’s hard to find authentic French crêpe in Vancouver these days that are made this well. I got the truffle omelette with sausage. The sausage seems to be specially made. It tasted awesome. I saw chunks of carrots and other spices. Kids loved their croissants. Not too greasy but buttery smell. My buddies burger was surprising good. Big thick patty but lean meat. We were wowed. They had plenty of great butter, and jam. We were here before for dinner also. And it’s no less awesome. Gotta try it. And kudos to our hostess today. She was absolutely gracious and her service impeccable.

Had brunch there today. Greeted quickly by the hostess at the door and she quickly cleared a place for the four of us in the patio. The place was packed. I had the Swiss-style Rostii with two poached eggs topped with truffles which was really tasty. My wife and cousin each had the smoked salmon on a buckwheat crêpe and my cousin’s wife had the Salmon and shrimp avocado croissant which was large and reportedly very good. Service was outstanding and the staff very friendly and professional. I would happily eat there regularly — there were a number of other items on the menu that would probably be delicious.

Got to try The Truffle House & Café last weekend. Gotta say that it was pretty good. I was able to try the Truffle Mushroom Benny and it was ON A CROISSANT! *mind was blown*. So yeah clearly that was a winner. Also got to try the Wild Mushroom Truffle Omelette. Got that with bacon. it was good. Can’t really go wrong with mushroom and truffles tho. The place itself is small and cozy and there’s a small patio out back as well. Would really like to go back and try more of the food there. Till next time folks.

I was here for dinner, but it sounds like the real gems are to be found during brunch. Friendly, French-run — cute, eclectic café /bistro. I like their art work on the walls — tiny men, doing funny things. I had the French onion soup — it was … sweet. Really, that’s the only word that comes to mind. I guess I’m used to overly salty onion soups, but I’m not sure if this was a step in the right direction either. Lots of cheese and bread, makes for a filling starter. The best dish of the night was probably the linguine carbonara — we added shaved black truffles to it($ 4) and it was nicely presented, parmesan shavings and overall flavourful. The chicken au jus with truffle risotto was a bit disappointing. While the chicken was juicy, it was kind of bland. And the risotto made me glad that we hadn’t ordered the full-version of it — not much truffle taste. I prefer a creamier risotto, this was more like overcooked rice. For dessert, the tarte tatin was a winner — added a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The apples were beautifully caramelized and not too sweet.

Searched online for a spot for brunch on Canada Day and came across Truffle House & Café on Unilocal and I thought we should give it a try with my husband and 2 young kids. We arrived at the restaurant and it looked quite full. They had a sign up front asking for patrons to «Please wait to be seated». There were 3 wait staff running around serving customers, including a few tables outside, we waited and waited for about 5 minutes with all three staff walking by us multiple times and no one care to even greet or look at us. It got so awkward that even the people sitting by the door were starring. We got fed up and left.

Wanted to try this popular place for a while. I had the West Van’s finest omelette… was it the finest in West Van? It was good but didn’t blow me away, the answer is no. The turkey sausage tasted homemade and the coffee was fresh. Food took a long time, but being a busy place, it was fine. Price is reasonable and our server was great. I may go back another time.

Good reviews brought us here on Fathers Day. We knew it would be busy so that isn’t an issue. Our server was great, friendly and had a great smile. I had the famous truffle and mushroom omelette. It definitely smelled and tasted of truffle. The bacon was disappointing as it felt cooked hours earlier and the hash browns were just deep fried and not much taste. Coffee was fresh and the jams and butter was good quality. I would not go back anytime soon as there are better overall quality breakfast out there.

Not that great, tasteless and blaaah. For the location being in the beautiful Dundarave Village in West Vancouver and the name and the menu it was incredibly disappointing! It such a small packed in together restaurant. looks like a family diner, and not a very good one! The food was tasteless and very limited menu. The portions were a good size but everything was very bland. Not impressed!

had a lovely brunch and really appreciated the great service. And what can i say, i love truffle so really enjoyed the two truffle and mushroom dishes we tried(crêpe and omlette). Recommend! I felt the prices were a little bit steep, but certainly there were great ingredients, attentive service, and everthing else you could hope for. For the crêpe in particular, i though a side of fruit or something would be good, given the price.

This place gets top marks from me. Best crepes place I’ve tried in the Lower Mainland and reminded me of what I found(and loved) in France. The breakfast crepes were perfect and the apple caramel crepes tasty. Great place to take a friend and recharge the soul. I’ll be back!

I came here with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago for brunch and loved it! It was the first time either of us have been here and the hostess welcomed us warmly and seated us promptly. The décor was casual but modern. There was a flat screen TV and a fireplace too. Seating was a bit cramped but that’s because they are always so busy! I had the West Coast Eggs Benny and my boyfriend got the Swiss Style Rosti. The food was delicious and service was great all throughout the meal. Prices are reasonable as well! We had a great dining experience and will definitely be back.

Maybe this is just me drinking the kool-aid and getting suckered in by the cute(expensive) storefronts lining Marine Drive, but the Truffle House & Café is quaint, charming, and everything that you’d expect in the storied neighbourhoods of West Van. I had looked at the menu in advance before coming for brunch on Saturday morning and was tempted by the Swiss Style rosti, but ended up making a game time decision and switching to the Wild Mushroom Truffle Omelette. As far as omelettes go, it was more than adequate: generous amounts of mushrooms and cheese with a side of potatoes and fruit, and 2 slices of maple bacon. That said, an omelette is an omelette, and as long as it doesn’t skimp on the fillings or is overcooked to the consistency of sandpaper, it’s hard for an omelette to really go wrong… or on the flip side(teehee!), be THAT good. The maple bacon was actually the stand-out as it was perfectly cooked(crispy but still juicy from bacon fat!) with a hint of maple flavouring. My friend had the West Coast benny and it looked fabulous. Perhaps more noteworthy though was how the servers and the kitchen were so attentive and flexible in working with her dietary restrictions(she’s pregnant). The service was extremely good throughout and even though the restaurant got pretty busy, you never got the sense that the staff felt harried or rushed. This allowed the diners to feel comfortable to take their time and relax, but yet somehow service kept on moving and it didn’t look like anybody had to wait too long for a table(bearing in mind that the place is pretty small). You can’t really ask for a better environment to catch up with an old friend, or in my case, play a loudly meowing birthday card, without feeling judged for it.

I feel really itchy to give any business a 5*! but The Truffle House & Café well earned the badge! Such an awesome café that took me in a magical journey and never returned me back! I was suddenly somewhere in Europe! I need to go again before leaving Vancouver I came to this place as it was recommended by a friend and it was a journey to find the café! That friend said he had an unbelievably delicious Veggie sandwich around the area, but he was not sure about the name or the location … So it was ½ hour hunting trip. We get there and we found a nice patio in the back, but it was a bit chilly for us to set their. so we got nice table inside the café! Great service, they’re nice and friendly! very prompt but never pushy: D just the way I like em to be. We had the veggie sandwich and OMG it was something super fine, super fresh, and super tender but not over done. I rally recommend that you give this café a try it’s well worth the journey to west van.
