Yummy berries pie. So delicious that I bought a take out salty chicken pie to try at home. Nice hideaway weekend afternoon. Very European feel to the shop.

I have been waiting for one breakfast order for 45min. Of course this place is busy spot but for that long at coffee shop is ridiculous! Do not recommend this place if you do not have enough time to spend.

Amazingggggg pies! no regrets, whatsoever! I have tried the raspberry rhubarb, blueberry, apple pie and the Lemon buttermilk with berries. I recommend all of them… blueberry and lemon buttermilk with berries is more towards the bitter side rather than sweet. Unlike the raspberry and apple. Definitely check it out… amazing service, friendly staff and most importantly their baked goods are worth every penny! I highly recommend the lemon buttermilk with berries. it’s different and melts in your mouth! Enjoy :)

This place is delightful and very cute inside. Everything I’ve tried so far has been perfect. The chicken pie, savory and delicious; the shortbread, buttery and crumbly; the breads are fresh and fluffy; the coffee strong and flavorful. The service is fast and friendly but they do get very busy especially at lunch. Looking forward to trying the sandwiches and sweet pies as well.

I was in search of a cake for my 18th birthday. My friend and an employee of Savary island pie, suggested I go there. I’ve heard so many great things about the company and thought it was worth the shot, which was my mistake. I went into the shop a little less than a month before the event and spoke to one of the employees, Iris. She was nice enough to offer me a sample of their chocolate cake and went on to tell me they did not specialize in cakes so she suggested another lady who did. I kept my options open, but spoke to Claudia who I believe is the manager. She mentioned I would recieve a 50% off discount and with a big party in mind, it felt like such a huge help. Again, my mistake. After tossing ideas with Iris around via text, I realized it was way to difficult to get in touch. Especially since I was left unanswered for days, until I would send another text. The one day I did decide to call the store, I was put on hold for almost more than 10 minutes. When I was finally able to have an ongoing conversation, I decided to keep the design fairly basic considering they did not specialize in cakes– 3 tier cake, with white and blue fondant. My brother picked the cake up on the day of the event, and explained to me that the employees had it wrapped up, and ran it straight to the car in order for it not to get wet, not getting a chance to look at it. When I did, I couldn’t have been more… Disappointed. I knew they did not specialize in cakes, and kept that in mind but I could not contain how embarrassed I was to have this cake be shown at such a big event. If anything, I expected the fondant to be rolled unevenly, or the cake not to be centred. But it was repulsive! The fondant was ripping, each tier looked like timbits clumped together, and it looked like it was melting! I messaged Claudia and Iris right away to let them know how dissatisfied I was. As well as how embarrassed I was to let so many of my guests see a cake like that! To which she replied, she was doing me a favour since her employee is a friend of mine and how I put such a large amount of stress on her for a whole week, stating I insisted they would make the cake. Which was unprofessional for she could’ve said no, and without any problems at all I would have moved on, however both her and Iris never said«No» to making the cake at any point. I was left with no choice at all and had to use this cake for my party. I couldn’t even begin to explain how many of my friends and family asked if me or my brothers made the cake or where someone would sell a cake like that to anyone. As a result, hardly anyone wanted to try the cake… I couldn’t blame them. Two days later, my mom brought what was left of the cake back into the store. Right away they told her they were instructed by Claudia to call the cops if she didn’t leave. Seeing as my mom did nothing wrong she proceeded to let them call. The rest of the story is completely ridiculous and goes to show the reviews people posted about the terrible customer service is in fact true. After this experience with Savary Island Pie Company, I can honestly say I will never go back here, since the cake was just as horrendous as the customer service. In the future please learn to say no… For the stress«I» put on you for the week is not nearly as equivalent to the stress you put on me those whole weeks trying to get in contact with you, and the embarrassment I felt when the cake was brought out. I will honestly say this will be my first and only time ever buying/going to the shop.

Ordered a Meat Pie here, which runs for just under $ 10. After half an hour it arrived, dead cold. It was then re-heated(not replaced), and I was offered a coffee. However, for such a high premium they charge for a small amount of food, mishaps like this shouldn’t happen. When it was heated up, the pie was delicious. My order seemed to have been overlooked by the high school aged staff. Very good food, may just need some more experienced hires.

The best in fruit and meat pies. This place is awesome, watching the bakers work while having chicken pot pie for lunch there was the best part of working on site in west van.

I was just back there and got a brownie and a cinnamon bun. More than $ 10. They’ve always been expensive, but they’ve upped their top pie prices from $ 28 to 32. $ 32 for a pie??? And for the price, still creaky furniture to contend with, tightly wedged in with everyone. That cinnamon bun? Different from the usual recipe, small-ish and I’ve had better. Their wares are good, sure. But no better than some of their really good competitors, like Purebread downtown. Which aren’t cheap either, but aren’t quite as greedy as Savary is getting to be. Put it this way, these are 9⁄10 prices for a place that bats an honest 8⁄10.

Once again, Unilocaling around in a new town does not disappoint. Visiting here is definitely an event! The space is a bit crowded, the service is coffee shop style, not restaurant style, so it’s a bit awkward. But rather than detract it definitely adds to the charm. Few tables made me sit next to a nice local, as many others today were. And the food is excellent, definitely artisan grade.

The best pies, veggie sandwich, soups and omelets around. Sometimes hard to find a place to sit, but well worth it.

Excellent! Stopped here on the way up to Whistler and it was fabulous. Such a cute interior. Very rustic with mismatched chairs and little flowers on the tables. Super cute and welcoming. The food was great. Bread is super fresh. I had a ham and cheese and it was so good. I also had tea and beer… love that they have local beer! We also picked up scones for breakfast the next morning and the cheese and onion was so good. I would love the food here. I would love to try a bunch more things. Recommend stopping by this place! Very tasty!

Meh! Was okay! Went here for lunch and had a tomato sandwich. It was good. Not jumping up and down over it. Was just good. Next time I’ll try something else. They have soup and they have sandwiches, but they don’t have a soup and sandwich deal. Cheapskates!

Hands down, this is the best sandwich joint in town! A great first date spot and they make the worlds best pies … After my mom of course. Highly recommended!!?

Beautiful décor! So nice and rustic! Sat down for an amazing latte as well as a piece of rhubarb and raspberry pie which is what I usually get and its wonderfully consistent every time. The employees here are always happy to converse with customers. The management are always incredibly friendly as well. They never have a superiority complex, as you see in most places. I love coming here and will drive the distance to do so. Ps. I have also tried a few of the sandwiches, the«French», being my favourite!

I don’t go to west van often… But we were basically looking for a McDonald for a quick bite, when I noticed this little gem and said… «Why don’t we eat here instead?» Great idea if I do say so myself. *pats herself on he back* The owner and staff were super chill and friendly! I loved the cheese + dill herb scone with ham and cheese in between! Absolutely delightful. The pecan and cranberry muffin we had was delightful. I liked how it was a little salty :9 The chicken pot pie was okay. It’d be nice if it was a bit bigger though. I also bought some bread home. I really liked their multigrain bread and the fact that it’s a little sweet. The Irish soda ain’t bad either. Very filling.

Does Savary Pie Company make the best pies in Vancouver? Sure seems like it! I’ve eaten a lot of pies over the years and I have to say Savary Pie is pretty darn good. I had the Buttermilk Lemon Blueberry pie. It was very tasty indeed! It has the texture of a cheesecake. The pie crust was flaky and buttery. Overall, a taste experience to behold! I think it’s a bit expensive. $ 27 for a pie but I guess if you want quality and excellence you have to be willing to open up the purse strings. My brother brought 2 of these pies to a family BBQ, but I’ll have to head over to West Van soon to try some of Savary Pie Company’s other pie offerings!

Had their raspberry and blueberry pie and it was freaking delicious. My friend didn’t like the crust as much but she had two pieces. I ordered the raspberry scone and I didn’t find that as tasty. They told me they are known for their cinnamon buns as well, gotta come back for that.

I’ve just returned from a frustrating first experience at Savary Island. I actually thought about what I would write in my review while I was there because I was so disappointed with the experience! After reading other people’s reviews about the service, I have to whole heartedly agree. I went during a quiet time(Thurs @ 5pm) so I’m not sure why but I felt an air of apathy starting from the unsmiling girl who took our order. They completely forgot our iced teas and our request for dressing on the side. No apologies for the mistakes. The food? Well, I really loved the scone and from the looks of the other baked goods, those are the things to order from here. The other things I had were total misses. We sampled the regular chicken pot pie and the curry chicken pot pie. Both had decent flavor, but the pastry top and crust were so soggy instead of flakey and crispy. It seemed like it was reheated in the microwave. T The tossed salad had to be sent back as mentioned above, and when it returned the avocado was brown. Rather than send it back a 2nd time, we just cut around the brown spots. For $ 1 extra, I would expect the four small slices of avocado to be perfect. For dessert, we had a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. Again, the flavor was good but the crust and top were soggy and a bit mushy. So disappointing. And that’s the thing: the cost of all these items just makes me sad. $ 9.50×2 for the slices of pot pie, $ 5.50 for the side tossed salad(+$ 1 for avocado), $ 6 for the pie, and $ 3 for iced tea. I don’t mind paying the money if the food came out well but there were just too many misses and mistakes, and the poor service didn’t help. I’m glad I finally made it to Savary Island… now I can say I tried it and won’t ever be going back.

Savary Island Pie Company located in Ambleside, West Vancouver makes some really damn good pies! In fact, I think Savary Island Pie is makes one of the best pies in Vancouver. This bakery comes with a great story about how one followed her heart to open a bakery. In 1989 Eileen Walkem-Hall realized her dream. Though this post is more about Chicken Pot Pies, Apple Pies, and Cheese and Dill savory scones; It nonetheless warms the heart with a Pursuit of Happiness type stories. I can appreciate a hot pie and a hot bowl of chicken soup on a bloody cold December day. –20C with windchill the Weatherman side this morning. Vancouver really hasn’t seen this Arctic front in a really long time. Chicken Pot Pie: A modest sized pie but was very satisfying. The crust is thin, rich, and buttery without the greasy heaviness. The filling was generous with moist chicken, peas, carrots, potatoes full of seasoning. The flavors were perfect and well balanced. Daily Soup — Tomato and Lentil: A tasty rich soup with healthy benefits. Lentils benefits are great. They are low in calories and high in nutrition, lower cholesterol, stabilized blood sugar, and weight management. The soup is delicious and goes great with chicken pie. Cheese and Dill savory scones: Light fluffy scone that is freshly baked in house. Perfect ratio of cheese and herbs. This was buttery not greasy. In addtion to really delicious pies, Savary Island Pie Company also has lots of fresh baked pastries and breads. Service is prompt and friendly. All purchases are made at the counter and seat yourself at the table.
