portion was huge but didn’t taste good. i took out fish n chips and they wrapped it in plain paper and have small packets of ketchup not convenient to eat outside.

Two of the staff call me by name, even though i might stop in once or twice a month. The fish is always awesome. Whole some deep-fried at its best. No GMO oil in their deep fryers

I never thought I can eat so much Fried Fish at one sitting. On a recommendation from a friend, we came here on a Sunny Saturday for lunch. We were told the AYCE Fish and Chips are good. The price is very economical $ 12.99 for all you can eat Fish and Chips with Bottomless Pop. Its $ 15.99 if you choose beer as your beverage. We were served with 6 nice pieces of crisp, lightly battered fish and crispy fries to start. AYCE Fish is not Cod or Haddock, its Pollock — a hardy white fish. They also have regular menu items with Cod, Haddock and Halibut. The staff were super friendly and refill the pop without asking. They were attentive and made sure we were happy with our meal. Large bottle of tartar sauce and ketchup were brought to the table. We did have to ask for lemon wedges as it does not come on the plate. You can also choose to add sides but the AYCE is more than enough for us. The parking is very easy around the restaurant.

Definitely the best fish n chips in the area. The portions are huge and prepared well. I don’t care for their style of fries, but everything else is just right. I exercised the option of adding a few onion rings. They were monsterous! They’re also very generous with the fresh coleslaw. The only negative was the décor, which was fine except that the floor had a lot of litter. It was 5pm, and clearly no one bothers to tidy up between lunch and dinner.

The fish and chips are good here. We eat at least once a month since it opened. We came in to eat on a Tuesday evening it was empty. We sat at a booth and were told we needed to leave. My 5 year old had brought a subway sandwich with him and that was considered outside food. I explained that he had allergies and food sensitivities and was not able to have deep fried food amongst other things. I explained that my husband and I would be ordering two adult entrees and once again told them that my son has allergies. We were told we could stay but never again could my son bring in his own food. I asked even if a child had allergies? They said their rule was a rule they needed to enforce. I understand this to a certain point, it is close to the ferry and people could come in and loiter with food with other restaurants. Maybe they could make an exception for a child with allergies. There was no trying to understand and I was told I was speaking to the 2nd manager and he was enforcing this rule. I asked maybe they could check with the owner and they say the owner would say the same. I am really disappointed and will no longer be eating here. I hope none of the young people ever have a child with allergies in the future.

Best place to go if you’re hungry! The all you can eat is $ 11.99 which includes a soft drink. If you prefer a pint of beer, it’s $ 14.99. I always get the onion ring add on(4), they’re usually large, lightly battered and crispy. The servers are always pleasant and efficient.

We have eaten here many times. The food is consistently good. The service is fast & friendly. I am not a big fish & chips fan(yes, I have tried the ones in England) but I like the fish & chips here. The batter is always light & crispy. The coleslaw is great. The Caesar salad is boring though — bagged lettuce & too much dressing IMO. The fish sandwich makes an inexpensive meal — lots of fish & coleslaw. The restaurant is very clean & I appreciate that. They also do take away too.

Ate here once back in February 2014. Ordered the halibut burger and got food poisoning! Was throwing up sick for 2 days after! Please make sure you check your food before serving it to customers.

Best haddock and chips in town. Lightly battered haddock is deep fried to perfection. At lunch my husband and I split a 2 piece haddock and chips which comes with coleslaw that is freshly made. Service is friendly. Food comes quickly.

First of all, getting here is a snap and there is street parking on all sides of the restaurant. Second, if you like fish and chips, this is the place in Horseshoe Bay I like to go, not the place you can see across the way that has been there since 1946. C-Lovers is good competition, I’ll say that. It’s even good competition for the other C-Lovers in North Van, which we been going to for many years. We give the nod to this location, if we have to choose. Both times we’ve been here we ordered the 2-piece haddock dinner and both times the food has been flawless. Generous portions of pristine fish in a perfect batter and really good chips — both expertly fried in fresh oil. We noticed they they toss the slaw just before they serve it to you. Nice normal people working here too.

we wanted something easy to eat while we were in the ferry to bowen island and saw C-Lovers. ordered the haddock/chips and they never made it inside the ferry, we ate in the ferry waiting area. it was nice to see them go old school with the newspaper but after unwrapping it was just for nostalgia, the fish and chips were in light butcher paper. great fresh tasting haddock and the fries had a nice salty-sweetness(light) about them. i don’t have issues with fish & chips where the batter and chips is no longer crispy, but it would’ve been nice to eat them the restaurant because it was true english fish and chips.

We hit C-Lovers about 6:30 p.m. on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend for dinner. Much busier than we’ve often seen it, but there was a free booth waiting for us. As usual, we didn’t have to wait long to have our order taken, and the usual excellent fish & chips arrived not long after. Still as good as ever:-). As Arnie said: «We’ll be back!»(quite often!).

Here’s the positive — the fish and chips batter is amazing! The downside? It’s on everything so everything tastes like it. It is true, however — better, fresher, lighter tasting fare than Trolls and man, do they keep this place clean. Worth a visit.

We had just dropped off my stepmom to catch the ferry and decided to eat in the town of Horseshoe Bay. It was a toss-up between here and Trolls, and since this place looked faster we came to C-Lovers. The all-you-can-eat was about $ 12 with pop or $ 15 with a beer; I obviously chose the latter. The AYCE came with pollock, which was not available on the menu otherwise, but if you like pollock it’s a no-brainer(I think the closest alternative was one piece of cod and chips for $ 10). The fries had been recently transported from the Sun, so be careful not to burn your tongue. The fish was good – not too thick a batter – although the pieces were small. Typical fish and chips joints offer pieces that can be mistaken for my forearm. Unfortunately the service wasn’t great, so it took a while to get my second helping. Ditto for refills on the drinks. If I was back in the area again, I would probably come back to C-Lovers.

Everyone in the are was super busy and struggling in the area but c-lovers was still able to do a fast turnaround on an order where no one else could. Great food. Wife raved about the value on the oysters.
