1st hair cut I had with Donald was not great but I put this down to me being nervous and making sure not much was cut off. I made a 2nd appointment, this was then cancelled a few days before as he wanted to take the day off. I managed to get another appointment, and was told I would get a discount due to the cancellation and was told he would only have an hour. He was late and did not say hello or sorry that he was. Then he introduced himself as if I had never been to him before, which was pretty bad C/S. I was so clear about how I felt about the first cut, that it was so heavy on top and there was a massive gap in the layers from the back to the front. It needed to be more layered on top and not have a massive jump down to the back. The hair cut was done quickly as as I was leaving with wet hair it was really hard to tell the cut. I was not given the discount that I was promised. When my hair dried it was much worse than the 1st time, still a massive gap from the front to the back and so heavy on the top. The cut was not cheap, I paid to look as bad as I did the 1st time only shorter. Will never go back to this salon, annoyed that I gave it a 2nd chance.

I popped in for a Shellac mani, and the girls were very polite and friendly. However, the girl who did my nails(who advised me they just recently started doing manis at this location,) although nice and friendly, did a horrendous job. She took over two hours, and the manicure looked worse than if a five year old did it. I’m talking bare spots, polish on the sides of my fingers, and bumpy/uneven polish on the nail itself. They were not shaped properly either. I didn’t ask her to fix it because after two hours I was ready to get the hell out. The service wasn’t cheap, either. I’ve never tried their hair services but would advise to stay away from the nail services.

I have been to this salon three times to purchase hair products. I would be darned if the staff can ever manage a smile or welcome me to the store. They seem least interested in helping. If asked questions, they give minimal answers and seem condescending. I would never go there again. Very disappointed with consistently bad service.

Best to get your hair done from Donald — he’s the pro there! And if you ever have an issue then Gaby is the Salon Manager you should ask for. She is great and will sort things out immediately for you to ensure you have the best experience possible, as that was the case for me.

I have been seeing my stylist Donald for many years and have followed him to Zennkai on Granville. Having always had very straight short to mid length hair, Donald has always helped me find a style I am happy with. For the first time I added some highlights to my naturally blond hair and he did a brilliant job!

Went for a blo dry this past Saturday. When I first got there I was told my stylist was running late which was no big deal. I understood it was the last Sat before Xmas so probably a lot of holiday parties going on. When my appointment began the stylist was still working on another client. She didn’t introduce herself, ask anything about me or attempt any conversation. She asked if I needed my hair washed which I thought was odd bc that’s half the reason you’d pay for such a service. When she started to dry my hair, she did my old lazy trick of just drying it with her fingers, which I would normally do if I was going to flat iron my hair after as it gets quite frizzy if you let it fully dry this way. I mentioned this to her. She said she knew what she was doing so I let her continue. After, she started using a hairdryer roller rush brush and started curling my hair, I had asked for a big round brush blo out but she continued to do what she thought was best. Finally, when she finished, my hair was a bit frizzy but could pass as okay, especially if I was just paying the holiday special price, which is what was advertised and what I confirmed at the time of booking. When I finally went to pay, she tried to charge not only regular price but an addition $ 5 for using another tool(which I didn’t even want or ask for!). When I mentioned the holiday special, she said that’s just if you come in, get your hair washed and quickly run a dryer through it. In the end, I had to fight to pay the price advertised. Overall, horrible service. I would never return.

My friend and I got the shellac application done at this salon, the nail lady was really nice and welcoming, however, she is not very good with nails, the finished product looked like they grew out a week already and on top of that the shellac was uneven and there were bubbles, and it started lifting on day two and by day four they just looked terrible; my friend and I had no choice but to take them off ourselves. The whole experience was an inconvenience. I went back with my friend six days later and told the manager what had happened, she was very nice and handled the situation very well, however, she mentioned that they had many complaints about the shellac and blamed the product itself. My friend and I have had shellac applied at other salons and can guarantee it is not the product otherwise why would it even be in the market?! If there were many complaints about the shellac, perhaps this salon should look into replacing their nail lady or not provide this service at all. Also, when my friend and I were speaking with the manager, the nail lady walked by us and did not even acknowledge us; it’s not everyday that a caucasian woman and an asian woman come in together to get their nails done.
