This place is OK. If you are looking for a quick bite and want something greasy this is the place for you. Albeit the food isn’t amazing and there isn’t anything that really sets them apart, they have food that gets the job done of filling you up. I really enjoyed their po-boys although I do think the bread was a bit stale and it could’ve used some better sauces. The oysters were nice though! The fish and chips on the other hand was not so good since I thought that the batter was underseasoned and it was slightly overcooked since the fish was not as delectable as I was expecting it to be. My friend had a salmon burger and they thought it was similar to the ones you get at Costco… hmm. maybe skip out on that? I think the prices are decent, a bit on the more pricey side for a lunch from a food truck, but you are getting seafood. The service is extremely friendly and food gets made fast!

My boyfriend ordered the Venison Burger which came with a small side of fries which we shared. It was our first time trying Venison. The burger was so flavorful, juicy & delicious.

One of the best food trucks in Vancouver, with yummy veggie options. A fave when I’m looking for truck food.

Before visiting Vancouver again, I made a list of places and food I want to try. With my research, The Kaboom Box kept showing up so of course, I had to find this tiny food truck. I saw that their business hours are limited and they hop from one place to another. I sent them an e-mail just to make sure I go to the right street corner on the date I planned to go. They were quick to respond. The day I arrived in Vancouver, I found them as soon as I went out the metro station. I went up to the truck and introduced myself — they’ve been expecting me. The two gentlemen were so busy but the service was great and they were friendly. Salmwich: This is what made them so popular and I absolutely see why. A thick piece of wild-caught salmon that has been smoked, fresh crunchy slaw, sauce in a bun. The best fish sandwich I’ve ever had. 5⁄5 Oyster Po Boy: Gulf-island oysters perfectly breaded and fried without being greasy, tartar sauce and slaw in a bun. A nice crunch from the generous portions of fried oysters and the mildly tangy slaw with the creamy tartar sauce. I’ve had fried oysters in Boston and other east coast cities and Po boys from New Orleans — they have a competition in Vancouver. This is coming from somebody who’s picky with oysters. 5⁄5 Poutine: My first experience with poutine was in Montréal a decade ago. Mushroom gravy and cheese curds on top of hot crispy fries. I have the habit of saving the best for last but with the awesome sandwiches and this extremely delicious poutine, I was pleasantly overwhelmed and couldn’t decide what I’m saving for last. 5⁄5 This was a great first meal in Vancouver on this trip… and it won’t be the last. See you next year!

We were at the Lonsdale Shipyards Market and S chose Kaboom Box as he wanted fish and chips and there weren’t many trucks offering it. They’ve been around for quite a while and you can usually find them near Robson Square. They feature a variety of seafood sandwiches, like Oyster Po’Boys and Salmon Sandwiches. The cart is funky and the owners are friendly. S got the Fish and Chips, which for $ 12, you get two pieces of Oceanwise Certified wild caught cod. The cod is battered with a light tempura and served with a signature house-made slaw, house-made tartar sauce and fries. I liked the light batter, but we both agreed that the batter needed more seasoning. Perhaps we should have used some of the condiments that were available at the truck. The fries were extremely crispy though and I was a bit addicted to them!

Kaboom box gets better with age! The first time I had fish and chips from Kaboom a few years ago it was pretty good. This time its amazing! Local cod tastes wonderful! Every bite is deliciously battered fish. The fries are always perfectly crispy too. I don’t think I’ve ever raved about coleslaw but here it goes! Its a different style from before and now its sooo yummy! And this is coming from someone who eats potatoes as their vegetable for my meals. Maple mustard coleslaw sounded odd but sure fooled me! The sweetness from the maple and the sourishness of the mustard is the perfect combination of tastes. 5 star to Kaboom box! My ultimate favourite food cart in downtown vancouver! :D p. s. i would have taken a photo but that would have required me to postpone me digging in and that was not happening. Lol

One of my favourite food trucks! I always go for the oysters and chips, but have tried the salmon burger and poutine. All three items are great. You can change your side of fries to side of poutine at a small cost, but personally for me, that is way too much; though this is always tempting for me since I love the poutine here.

Ordered the Po’ Boy for a second time — for a friend. This time, the sauce was a little too sour. I am not sure if it was the sauce from the mayonnaise, or the sauce inside the coleslaw. I was told that it could really use less sauce. Again the oysters were small, and very deep fried. Either way, the sandwich was enjoyed.

That oyster po boy was legit. French fries were perfectly crispy and full of flavor. Yum yum. Would eat it again.

First of all, get there on a Tuesday so you can avail of their $ 10 sandwich+side combo. These guys have every reason to be proud of their smoked salmon sandwich. It really is good. I was afraid the sauces and slaw would detract from the flavour of the fish and I was pleased to find that everything went perfectly together. Even better, the fish was very firm and well cooked, it was really good on its own. Fair warning though: it can get a bit messy, get some extra napkins or something. The salad was crisp and fresh, with a good vinaigrette and topped with sliced almonds and cranberries. I did not expect this kind of detail from a food truck, I was slightly impressed! But why should you trust me? Go there and see for yourself :) The guys won’t bite you, they’re very nice people.

I love me a good oyster po’ boy, so thats what I ended up getting for $ 10. 2 pieces of deep fried oysters on a bun with mustard slaw and tartar sauce. It was only when they started frying, that I realised I should have gone with their other oyster item! 3 pieces of oyster, with fries, and coleslaw for $ 12. An extra $ 2, for an extra piece of oyster, forgo the bun, and get fries instead. I was still happy with the po’ boy, although I think the mustard slaw needed more kick to it, it needed an extra. something. I’d come back here for the 3 piece oyster meal, $ 12. Otherwise, on a Tuesday, you can choose any sandwich with fries & salad for $ 10, so you’ve got a pretty good deal if you swing by on that day.

Great veggie burger though I think it’s probably because it’s fried lol. But either way I could tell it was made with lentils or grains… whole foods instead of processed soy. It tasted great esp witj the amazing slaw. My friend had the po boy and loved it too! Only thing I’d add is that it was a tad salty and I was thirsty after but it’s hard enough to find a good veggie burger so that’s not going to stop me from heading back when I get a craving. We weren’t big fans of the mushroom gravy poutine. But fries were good.

Love Love Love I cannot say enough good things about this food truck. I have tried everything on the menu and have found each one more delicious than the last. My favorite is the Salmon Sandwich the seafood is super fresh and the bun it comes on is soft and perfect and not to forget the amazing sauce and coleslaw. The chef is always happy and helpful and the owner is FANTASTIC. He always remembers me and reminds me of what I still need to try. We always chat about our day and what he plans to come up with next. I tell everyone I know to come and try them out and now I am telling you. They are fantastic the food is amazing you will not regret it.

I am from out of town, so I hope I have the right location. I am a kind of picky eater and normally don’t eat a lot of fish, but decided to go for it and try the house salad with the salmon. The salmon was smoked and mixed with cranberries and almonds. The berries and the almonds, along with the dressing, made this actually a pretty good option for a non-fish eater. I could definitely taste the freshness of the fish, but it wasn’t so overpoweringly fishy that I was grossed out. I think the balance here was pretty good. I usually go for the least healthy option on a food truck(if it has grease or cheese I am all on it!), so I was glad I went outside of my comfort zone and tried this healthier option. It was light and perfect for a day when you really out to pass on yet another bacon-heavy dish(not that there’s anything wrong with bacon, but we all have to lighten up sometimes!).

Had to try some of the food trucks that BC has to offer! The smoked salmon sandwich here starts with fresh, local, wild-caught salmon that is smoked in the cart. It’s served on a whole wheat bun with spicy mayo and house-made maple-mustard slaw. I’m not sure exactly how«world famous» this salmon sandwich is, but it totally deserves a ton of praise. The fish was moist and perfectly prepared. The refreshing slaw has great crunch and provides a savory-sweet experience without upstaging the salmon. I also got a side of poutine, the Canadian dish of fries, gravy, and cheese curds. The«BC Poutine» here has a mushroom gravy. An awesome way to continue my gluttony. A great first experience.

Exactly what the name says — I was given a «kaboom box» of deliciousness! The hot smoked salmon was tender and flavourful with a crispy, creamy coleslaw all lovingly hugged by a toasted bun. One bite and it was ooh-yeah goodness. Not only are their food good, the service was impressive. Even amongst the chaotic orders, the vendor said hi, showed us the on-truck smoker and was appreciative to our praises of the food. Overall, yum yum yum! I will be back!

The smoked salmon salmwich was quite the awesome sandwich. Served in between a toasted bun, a soft, smoky piece of salmon, with a maple mustard coleslaw. Mushroom gravy smothered over perfectly crispy fries, topped with green onions?! My favourite things all together in one dish! A very satisfying meal. Can’t wait to try out their Oyster Po-Boy!
