Two must orders: fried chicken & cronuts for dessert. Not as kid friendly(since most of the tables are high) but the service was great. Live music on Thursday was good too! Great place for a beer /quick bites to eat.

I have been here about three times over the past six weeks and it is very good. «The best happy hour in Vancouver» as I’m sure many will attest. $ 5 for large pours of their many craft beers. The service is great and they clearly want you to come back. I like the laid back, not-too-fancy ambiance. I have never had more than appetizers(which were tasty) but intend to go and eat there sometime soon.

We went here last night while on vacation in Vancouver. Ordered the prawn tacos(a little on the dry side — needed more spice), Bay of Fundy Oysters, the board ribs(fall of the bone delicious– a must try) and the sirracha buttermilk chicken(another mandatory dish to have while here). Portions are small but surprisingly filled us up. Also ordered a Moscow Mule, glass of B. C wine(House from Pell are Estates) * and a wonderfully refreshing pint of blood orange wheat beer. Definitely got to go to this place if you’re looking for good pub grub, great beer and just the right amount of fun meets chill ambiance.

Delicious. Great drinks, gastro-pub fare, and a surprising number of vegetarian/vegan items(along with delicious meats). Exceptionally friendly service and a fantastic value. Food was fresh and flavorful. Will return next time I’m in Vancouver.

Really enjoyed the variety of brews on tap and atmosphere here. We got the bucket of beer for $ 15 and then each got a pint afterwards. I really enjoyed the canned IPA, but wish there was more than a 3-can selection for the bucket… Really just a minor detail when their options on-tap were plentiful. Great spot we hope to come back to.

We decided to give this place a try on a cool Spring Friday night, as a last minute plan and I have to say I’ve become a fan. It’s hard to find a nice place to eat on a Friday night specially when you have a large group without prior reservation… and seeing that most place don’t take reservations it’s a catch 22 problem. Upon arrival I was greeted and shown to a table by the wall, making it easy to read the rotating beer selection. The staff were friendly but a couple of my friend’s food arrived quite late… upon complaining they were taken off their bill. I started off with their whisky lemonade which was refreshing and then went on to order the mussels with fries. The fries were thick but a bit too spicy for my taste. The mussels were a bit overcooked and the broth failed to impress me. Overall the drinks are better than the food as I also tried a bit of my friend’s hanger steak.

After a long day riding bikes, my two friends and I passed by this quaint little gastro pub immediately attracted to its exterior. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by our lovely server. It was Monday so weekly drink specials were on all night! We only paid $ 5 for our beer and $ 6 for our wine. In addition, they were selling Chef’s Creeks oysters for a $ 1.50 a piece and $ 2 for Kusshi. Quite a steal if you ask me. The interior was just as delightful and expected. Gorgeous windows with sunlight streaming through and a clean, modern decór. Will definitely be visiting this perfectly located pub again the next time I’m around the area(Stanley Park.)

Enjoyed my first experience here: two people, high top table, we enjoyed food and drinks. The space was busy and loud on a Saturday night, not great for a romantic outing but would totally set the mood for a fun weekend night out. The staff were friendly and attentive, answered questions about the menu and seemed to enjoy doing so. The Bourbon(Jim Bean Black) Lemonade and Moscow Mules we were drinking tasted great and they were served quickly and often. I wished they had a more traditional copper mug to serve the Mules from but thats a touch too picky. They had Kusshi oysters(my favorite!) so we started with a half dozen of those. The oysters were served with dry shaved horseradish, cocktail sauce and a hefeweizen mignonette. Needles to say these were incredibly on point. You also get a spiced chex-style mix to snack on when you sit down. We shared: Vietnamese Steak Wraps, Spicy Prawn Tacos, Tri-Cooked Fries and Roasted Cauliflower. The food is served in a tapas style so don’t expect your portions to be ridiculous but the taste was all there. The Steak Wraps were served ‘disassembled’ so you got to fill them differently with the fixings each time; tasted amazing! Prawn Tacos were actually not that spicy and a little bit small but they also were spot on good. Honestly, the fries are crazy good here and very crispy(hence the triple fry), the dipping sauce was a curry-coconut base that I would honestly drink by the bucket full if i had no shame. I’m looking forward to going back and sharing more delicious food. It will be fun to introduce people to this place, the Downtown Westend needed a place like this.

Must say everything was pretty good. Overall a bit noisy but that’s expected at gastro pub with a lot of beers on tap. Food as noted was really good. Had the fried chicken that was delicious, pieces a little small but very good flavor. The skirt steak was a little bland but the compliment of white bean purée, fried capers and sautéed peppers made it very tasty. The prawn tacos were really good with a smokey spice, chipotle flavor. The pita bread bruschetta was ok, I guess I’m used to some hummus or more thick spread for that. The ahi tuna plate was really good with a purée and spicey siracha tomato based dipping sauce. The three sides were good, cauliflower, mashed potato and mushrooms. The dessert that seems like a fancy churro(I forgot name) was really great, the dipping sauces are very tasty. The Riesling was very good and the Yellow Dog IPA and Saison were really good beers. Overall a very good experience and I highly recommend this place.

Never stepped into this space and neither had the interest to before it became The Blind Sparrow. I thought the name Frisky Gayman is way better. but who am I ;) From the outside, it had great ambiance, casual, cool and hip. Love the new look and vibe. Once stepped inside, I realized how my grandmother felt when I cranked my loud music, cuz it was loud. Booming, vibrating, echoing loud. Between the cackles and what can only be called music it was very distracting and hard to hear/chat. My companion actually got a headache and we had to leave. Food: fried chicken, it’s ok. Deffo not the best fried chicken I’ve had, pieces were too small and therefore had too much batter by the end of things. But the chicken was very very tender and moist. Chickpea bruschetta: it’s ok… but, the naan bread is to die for! Fries: perfectly fried, don’t look down on this simple dish, seldom«gastropubs» ever do them right anymore. Why the four stars? Great taps, cocktails and amazing service. It has made my list of, «don’t wanna dress up, but want to go somewhere hip», local, neighbourhood joints. **Side note to owners: paintings, carpets, rugs, fake curtains, anything to dampen that echo! Or not, maybe I’m just that old.

A gastro tavern serving local craft beer and B.C. wine. A very dimly lit place with live entertainment. I always feel lucky when I get a good table :) But then it’s Sunday night. Served right away. Ordered rosemary G & T cocktail: rosemary infused Bombay sapphire gin, fresh cucumber, lime, tonic. It was a good stiff drink, then I realized it’s a double. The value minded part of me likes that. Value aside, this is a good drink. I hate it when I get more ice than drink. Munchies alleviated by chex mex mix at the table. Yikes, be warned. It’s spicy hot and will ruin your palette. Had to try«cronut sticks» $ 7: I had no idea they renamed the churro sticks to cronuts. That’s what they were. Quite a disappointment. Plus they were greasy. I’m guessing the upcharge was for the dipping sauce. Once the music started, I gave up trying to uphold any form of conversation. That’s OK, my texting skills are unsurpassed. Happy hour is everyday from 4– 6 pm. pints $ 5, wine $ 6, spicy prawn tacos $ 2(yes, that’s not a typo), fried chicken with romano crunch $ 7, chickpea bruchetta with fresh naan $ 7. Will be back for their awesome prices for happy hour, which I missed!

I’m so happy this bar has opened! They have a fantastic beer selection! They have also done a great job on the décor here too, As for the menu, I only had a very small snack, as the menu itself does not appeal to me, but that doesn’t mean it is bad in any way, that’s just my personal preference.

Cool new spot in the west end. They have a wide variety of share style plates on their menu. The fried chicken was crispy, tasty, and with a slight kick to it. I highly recommend it. The vegetables were prepared on the more healthy side which was nice. Service was great. The room has a warm and cozy feel to it with nice design. I’ll definitely be back.

Best spot in the West End for a casual vibe with a great local beer list, tasty cocktails, enthusiastic service and EXCELLENT food. Reasonable prices and daily specials keep this local coming back for more! If you’re not sure, order the fried chicken.

We live here in the west end and have finally found our neighbourhood pub with a great selection of local craft beer. We went to happy hour for $ 5 pints and amazing fried chicken and chickpea bruschetta on naan bread appies. The vibe was buzzing as every table filled up between 4−6p on a Saturday afternoon. We’ll definitely keep coming back.

With the loonie falling in value, Canada is a great adventure! $ 1 = CAD $ 1.40 — Every night felt like happy hour!!! Vancouver’s West End offers quite a few great stops for a night out. This place was quite nice. During happy hour, the ‘mug’ drinks were on special(CAD $ 7). I enjoyed a bourbon lemonade and tried out their moscow mule too. Our chickpea bruschetta was also a tasty addition to our evening out. Friendly server who made nice conversation and was a great hostess as well. **I’ve noticed everywhere we ate the servers use portable(mobile) payment machines for purchases with cards. They come to the table and you complete the transaction on-screen. So convenient, wish the states would have more of these.**

Great Beers, Good food, good service, great room. this is a fantastic new neighborhood spot. i will definitely be returning. I went here yesterday with a few friends. My buddy and i were early so we grabbed some food at the bar. Kushi oysters, boar ribs and vietnamese steak wraps. the oysters were perfectly shucked and came with a beer mignonette — pretty amazing. The boar ribs were a little overcooked(fell off the bone a bit too easily) but otherwise delicious. house-made kimchi was awesome. we moved to a bigger table as more friends arrived and sampled the extensive tap list. all local beers, and even my favorite cidery on tap.

I absolutely loooove the Blind Sparrow! I’m honestly hesitant to do a review because I want this to be my secret little favourite spot… When we initially saw the space under renovations we were dreading another sushi place or frozen yogurt joint opening in the west end. Alas, our prayers were answered, and the Blind Sparrow appeared to quench our thirsts and fill our bellies The food is absolutely delicious. The portions aren’t massive, but they don’t need to be because the prices are reasonable, and it’s more fun to order a bunch of share plates and try all of the different things. So far, I’ve tried: chickpea bruschetta with naan(10⁄10) spicy prawn tacos(9⁄10) cronut(6⁄10) *this was my first cronut experience and I found it dry. boar ribs(10⁄10) spring rolls(9⁄10) fried chicken(12⁄10) *this is the best damn thing I have ever tasted. EVER. They have great happy hour specials, delicious cocktails, fantastic food, and a really wonderful ambiance. I love it so much that I had my birthday there, and all of us had a wonderful time. Our service was really great, and honestly I didn’t hear a single complaint all night. Everyone was also crazy about that fried chicken. Just go and order the fried chicken and a rosemary g&t. You can thank me later.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to grab dinner and some drinks with a friend. The best thing about the blind sparrow is the atmosphere; comfortable, lit nicely, and great music playing but not too loudly. The food may be a bit light if you are very hungry and looking for a filling dinner. That being said, everything we had was delicious. They also have a solid beer selection. We got there around 5:00 which was during happy hour, so pints we just $ 5.

Came here on a Sunday evening, they had been opened for 10 days. There was live music although it was bit too loud(small venue for that I think). The menu is more tapas styles with a few main entrees. My partner had wanted to order the Boar ribs and had been waiting all week for it, when ordering they had said there were no boar ribs(just wondering why they didnt tell us when they were seating us). He had ordered the steak and the portion size was quite small(not worth the value). There were also«sides» we could order at $ 4 per side or 3 for $ 10. Portions were alright, the coleslaw was quite tangy. I would recommend the Squash. Overall a alrite experience, a bit pricy for what you get though, parking can be tricky

I love living in the West End(west of Denman) for many reasons. However we have been forever starved for cool little pubs/lounges with a good vibe to sit down for a couple drinks and good nibblies. So many of these places exist on Main, Commercial, Broadway west of MacDonald, Gastown, etc… but why not us :(. Bayside is the only place that comes close… Dover Arms is just a sad place to visit. However FINALLY have a cool loungie place to go to in the West End.. Just a block north of Robson on Denman. Only been open for a couple of weeks. Staff was fun and attentive. Food was great and very fair prices. Tend to be smaller tasty servings versus big sit down dinner. Good selection of beers on tap. Music was on point for moi. Supposedly live music coming a couple nights of the week… Yahoo!!! I hope they make it and become neighbours for many years down the road.

Hot damn. The beer menu is a serious delight, showcasing the best of local craft. For you kids that never make it out to the burbs. Keep doing that because you can get all of their beer treats here. They don’t do tasting bats, but you’ll be glad you have a full pint in front of you due to the greatness of the beer. The gentlemen running this joint are lovely. The service was great, super friendly, and full of all the answers to all of our questions. My pal had the oysters and the fried chicken and was very pumped. I had a veggie trio, 3 items for $ 10 seemed like a sweet deal to me. The cilantro slaw is so damn good. As were the kimchi and the mashed potatoes, but for reals, the slaw. Get it in you. The food menu appears to have a lot of gems on it, so I’ll definitely be back. This place is going to be hella busy in the summer y’all. So get there when it’s still new and a secret! Feel hip! Did I mention the beer?
