This is one of my favourite spot to go to when I crave for Bun Bo Hue. Their Bun Bo Hue soups are very tasty… They have the right amount of spiciness and good flavour in it. Not many restaurants give out pig feet in BBH dishes but this place does! One of the ladies who works there always remember what we want to get from the menu and knows how much slices of lemon to give us. My bf doesn’t need to ask and she instantly remembers to give him cold tea each time we come and visit. That just shows great service! They accept debits and credit cards which is another bonus. They could use some renovation to the restaurant. The place looks a bit plain. they have 2 plasma tv but that’s pretty much it. No decorations or music playing in the background which is a little bit too quiet sometimes. One thing I would NOT suggest to get is their Bun Mam(anchovy soup). The broth didn’t taste anything like it. It was a big disappointment to me. The broth they were using tasted like«Phở soup» with few garnishes and ingredients added. It wasn’t «fishy» enough, no eggplants and there wasn’t many seafood in the bowl. Not only that, they didn’t have this special dipping sauce for it. For better Bun Mam, please go to Got Phở Thien Kim.

Ah, my old go to phở restaurant when I still lived in the area. I still drop by when I’m near Nanaimo if I can, and it never disappoints if you know what to order! Thien Trang is probably one of the most authentic Vietnamese places you can go to, and we are talking about décor, food, and everything. The place is never filled so you can always get a seat, but as another Unilocaler said, sometimes it’s just hubs and I and its really awkward to talk in the silence. As for the food, I would rank it as phở and rice over vermicelli. They also have some other specialty items on the menu that aren’t found in the other local Viet restaurants. Their phở is delicious, one of the best I’ve tried. As hubs usually gets vermicelli I remember that I got a bowl here once. Bah. Seriously, do not try it. It’s probably one of the worst ones I had. Stick to the rice plates if you want the grilled meats, as they are one of the only places who do not overlook their rice and make it taste like cafeteria food! We also usually get the jackfruit shake here. They don’t water it down, and it’s usually delicious. Nice addition to any meal.

I’ve been here a few times to get my BBH(bun bo hue) fix. Huge portion for take-out phở and they are really generous with the bean sprouts. It’s not too busy here majority of the time. In fact… it’s empty majority of the time I have gone there. They should at least play some background music… otherwise it gets really awkward and quiet in there.

This is one of the best in Vancouver that is close to Burnaby. Their special chicken phone(#11) is the best i’ve had in all my years living in east Van. All their Phở is clean and not heavy on MSG — i know because I dont get no food coma after!

Alright folks, if you are looking for no giant heaps of MSG laced Vietnamese food, COMEHERE! When I use to go to the Phở Hoa on Kingsway, I would come out reeking of msg, fried foods etc, but not here!!! My bf and I pop by at least twice a week. Prices are decent, all includes taxes. Service is quick, food is über fresh and hot and might I add, not burned in the fryer.(you have NO idea how some restaurants can seem to have the nerve to serve you something burned on one side) They have re-modeled, re-decorated and re-painted the place a bit and it really looks much more welcoming and light than the previous restaurant. LOVE that I can watch Big Bang Theory on tv while I enjoy an inexpensive dinner. GOGOGO!!!

Located in the quieter part of east Van, instead of going to the busy ones on Kingsway, if you want peace & quiet, it’s not a bad place to work. Have to say it’s neat & clean. Ordered the pork, spring roll over vermicelli, nothing special, just average. But was impressed w/the takeout for my iced coffee, solid w/the lid that you sip thru – so no need for the straw. yet the coffee is alright, nothing to write home about. parking avail on nanaimo & side streets.

Oct. 18 I could feel myself starting to get grumpy and knew I need food NOW! I was in the area I could get some Asian food, I was hoping for Vietnamese. First restaurant, CLOSED. 2nd restaurant, OPEN!!! I quickly parked and went In to see the menu, fingers crossed they would have my favourite flavorful sub. ! They did! I needed something hot to put in my tummy too so I ordered a couple spring rolls to go with that. Total? Less than $ 8! Wow! The meal was delish and certainly filled the spot. Cannot wait to go back!

Went restaurant hunting and ended up here. So many holes in the wall on the E side. Parking is available on the side streets around the place. The interior was nice and stinky. Not of filth, but of fish sauce. It reminded me exactly of the restaurants I encountered in Vietnam. With that said, the décor was quite pleasant. The copious use of plants reminded of eating in a garden patio, but without the burning hot sun. I had the beef steak and beef ball phở(the benchmark dish). The soup was pleasant, and the beef balls were light on the gristle, but the steak was cooked way too well, to the point of dryness. I didn’t see too much red at all when they served it. Not sure if this was a mistake on the chef’s part but hopefully it was. The spring rolls here are some of the best I’ve had in a while. I’m all about the crispy(read: heart attack inducing) skins, and this place delivers. One last special mention — the staff were kind enough to stay past closing for us. They signaled the end of the night by turning off the TV. Sure enough, after we left, they closed up shop within 2 minutes. Yet another place to hit up for phở.

I tried to check in there, however, I couldn’t find this business on Unilocal.Shocked! I came here few times long long time ago and I returned for quick lunch again. The house special noodle so tasty and looked spicy. The lemon grass BBQ pork chop, BBQ minced pork and Vietnamese ham in rice was delicious too. The spring rolls was too greasy and not crispy as it look.
