After going to two other engravers in Vancouver, I finally settled on K.R. Parkes, and I’m happy I did. I had two Swiss Army knives to get engraved as gifts, and neither of the other engravers downtown could do it, but KR did a great job. Tiny monograms on the blade, very delicately done and turned out beautifully right on time. The building that KR is in is kinda wierd — it seems like it used to be full of corporate offices or other high-rent businesses, but now it’s a bit run down… think dark wood paneling and brass elevator doors, but all scuffed up and rickety. I guess it adds a bit of character to the whole experience. The space that KR occupies is scene, too. A real craftsman’s workshop, with a small display case of jewelry and other fine engravables, next to KR’s machinery and all sorts of other tools. Pretty cool. KR is a great guy — super nice. Felt good to support a local artisan who clearly takes pride in his craft. Next time I need something engraved, KR’s my man.
