The services is going worse and worse. The waiters there would rather put you on waitlist than let you seated in the table for 4 people. They would tell you that the 4 people table is reserved which is a lie lol. I was there for 1 hour and did not see anyone coming for the«reservation». Terrible cheater lol. It was the best sushi restaurant around UBC. However, the terrible services got me really disappointed. If the situation is not changing, I would rather go somewhere further.

Terrible service. Don’t come after 8:50pm, even though their closing time is at «9:30pm». The last call to order something from the kitchen is at 8:50pm, beyond this point your options are limited to rolls and nigiris. Besides from the fact that you have 10 to 15 mins to finish your dinner because they close around 9:00pm.

Sometimes you find a gem in a hole in the wall… other times it’s just a hole. In a city filled with excellent sushi and Japanese cuisine — this is not a place to get acquainted with either if you are serious. Prices for super-basic items like Tekka Maki(tuna roll) are slightly higher than average — and the preparation is barely average. They do not toast their nori(seaweed) and the construction of the maki is mediocre. If your rolls come apart easily, they are not made well. Further, the wait staff didn’t know the cuisine. I should have known then to get up and leave. When I ordered foods by their Japanese names, the waitress didn’t understand what I was saying. Seriously — if you order simple Kappa Maki(cucumber roll) and they don’t know what you’re asking for… that’s not a good sign. Also — they had me move after I had already been seated by them. The service was not only uneducated but inhospitable. No water refills or check backs. If you’re doing the ersatz sushi thing, this will suit… but in a city filled with excellent sushi… you owe it to yourself not to settle!(2 places nearby I’d recommend: Takumi is 1 or 2 blocks down, Rajio is down the hill)

Was really disappointed with their spicy chirashi don. Rice was hard and cold. barely any sashimi in the bowel. This used to be one of my favorite sushi places… not sure what happened in 5 months… I don’t think I’ll be going back to this place. Wouldn’t recommend spicy chirashi Don. Not worth $ 15 b/f tax.

Pretty Good Japanese good place but com’on guys, it’s not one of the best in Van for sure. I think some of you should try some other places that are even closer… please get out and explore… Takumi just down the street is much better although a bit more pricer but we are talking quality here. Solid Japanese food for sure… above average for the area and priced good. Good service too. It would of been 4 starts but not that authentic as some may think.

This is by far the best sushi I’ve ever had! Favorite items on the menu: Tuna and Avo salad, Tofu Hotpot Appetizer, Seden Sashimi Sampler, Sakura Spider Roll, Beef Yaki Udon It is a small and cozy space, with Japanese cartoons playing via projector on one the walls(on mute), and classy jazz music piped in on the speakers. The servers are always incredibly friendly, and the service itself is fast and impeccable. If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars, I would!

Not to be confused with Hime Japanese, which is one East Broadway, at opposite spectrums. Food’s alright here, considering the plethora of about 5 sushi places in this area, I wouldn’t be in a rush to come here. For one, it’s quite cramped… and not good for bigger groups than 4. Yes, another Korean-run joint. Dark brown mahagony wood décor. No Amex. Delivery available in evenings, short radius though.

I will definitely be returning here. The food was delicious and fresh, simple and tasty. Nothing new, no new twists on classics, but I“m ok with that. Sometimes I just want simple yummy Japanese food. Plus, the best part of the dining experience for me was the projector wall showing Japanese children’s animation. It was so sweet, I’d go back anytime.

There are loads of Japanese restaurants along this street, but this little shop is definitely my favorite one. While modest in size, there are enough seats around to secure a table for your crew. The waitresses greet you in Japanese, which I find a little funny considering that the people there are Korean. You get the regular menu as well as a sheet of paper showing the specials of the month, and there are a bunch of other papers taped along the wall. There’s a video screening of movies on one wall(I’ve seen The Little Mermaid, Totoro and Ponyo to name a few) but there is no sound, so you have to do the whole lip reading action. The waitresses are friendly and efficient but they aren’t the best at their job. They mill about and converse with one another, chatting and failing to notice a customer until a few awkward seconds later. The tea tastes like hot water, and the portion for the free edamame is laughably tiny. I recommend against getting the agedashi tofu, because they make it with something odd. It’s supposed to be crunchy and crisp on the outside, but these have almost a gelatinous texture. The sashimi slices, however, are large and incredibly fresh.(I personally really enjoyed the tuna tataki– it had nice, fat chunks swimming in a refreshing ponzu sauce.) As well, their rolls are creative and tasty. There’s no need to dip it into soy sauce, as the rolls are well-seasoned and drizzled in their own special sauce. I appreciate the wide variety of choices they have, and I look forward to trying the rest of them! It’s a lovely restaurant for a quick bite to eat. Don’t expect to be blown away, as it is really just a simple and unassuming place to enjoy a casual lunch or dinner.

Awesome little place to eat. The food is good and the service is beyond polite. I’m used to a very robotic experience when eating at Japanese restaurants where the staff are polite but only in rehearsed situations. At Hime, they’re always nice and the only reason I don’t go there every time I want to eat sushi is because the restaurant itself is small and I worry about not getting a seat right away.

One of the best sushi places in Vancouver. Totally legit. Love the 911 roll, shrimp tempura, and just about everything on the menu. They have cartoons playing all the time and I love their tea cups.

Close to school and easy to do grocery shopping afterwards. Like their Yaki Udon a lot! Soft shell crab was not as crunchy, but nothing here I’ve had is bad. Will always go back!

This is for the Mount Pleasant location– A friend and I came here last night to this little surprise of a restaurant that stands out from the hood. Hime Sushi presented us a well-paced, tasty dinner in a clean setting where all the polished, cool kids seem to go for Mount P sushi. I appreciate that there was a decent selection of vegan options, amongst the regular seafood/meat fare. I also appreciated that the food we ordered wasn’t the same, tired do-overs from every other casual sushi joint in town. Case in point: The Gomae Salad. Here at Hime, Gomae Salad is actually fresh steamed spinach(as far as I can tell– or at least it’s not the mush from a can many other restaurants serve). The dressing was a thin, almost fruity yet salty broth. It was subtly sesame and served with a wedge of lemon. It was so, so good. The servers were pleasant and attentive, though it was busy. You could tell they were multi-tasking to the max and really working hard to ensure all the diners were taken care of… drop off a bill here then turn around and fill up a tea cup there before picking up food to run… we ask for our bill and she says right away and then actually brings us the bill right away… you get the picture.

6 pm and my only options for dinner are cereal and a jar of half eaten spaghetti sauce… this looks like a job for… Take Out! I head over to Hime Sushi and minutes later am happily on my way home. I had the Hime Combo, which is a Hime roll(salmon, tuna, imitation crab, tamago, cucumber, and avocade), and 2 pieces of salmon nigiri with 2 pieces tuna nigiri. The fish was all very tasty, and not frozen. The combo was, I think, $ 10.95 before tax, which I found reasonable. The restaurant itself has been remodeled since my last visit in 2006, it’s now more modern looking with darker wood trimmings. It is, however, still served by a pretty sparse staff, with one chef in the kitchen, two behind the counter, and one waitress. That’s fine, the space is so small anyways that it’s probably sufficient. Everyone was very friendly. I think I won’t wait so long until my next visit!

best sushi in point grey(and possibly further east). japanese-run. feels like you’re eating at home. if you’re alone, keep ordering things because it gets busy and they might need your table/spot for another party.

Stuffed to the brim with an $ 8.95 lunch… yup I’m a fan! The teriyaki sushi is wonderful with a crispy skin that stays crispy even with sauce on it. How do they do that?! The teriyaki comes with noodles instead of rice, which was a delightful surprise. The service was also polite and frequent with the tea.
