We ordered 3 bubble teas for 5 $ each and they were tiny — half the size of a bubble world tea. The service was slow and the waiters ignored us for 10 minutes even though it wasn’t busy at all. Definitely won’t be returning.

Came here 3 days ago on a Monday night at approximately 6:00. Just missed the«afternoon» prices for some of the items that run 2−5pm. I was craving some Hong Kong baked things so I got baked rice. Although the place wasn’t that busy, my things took longer to come than my friend’s(even the drink). I had Iced Green Milk Tea but you can barely taste the«Green» part. Would definitely not order this again.(It is definitely nothing like the ones I’ve tasted in Asia. Also got the Baked Basa and sausage with cream corn fried rice. The dish wasn’t really that baked… even though it was relatively hot, they barely started baking it. The only thing I could see in the friend rice was white onions… don’t think they added anything else. However, the portion was big enough for me such that I had about half of it to take home. When we were trying to pay, we had to ask for the bill several times before the server came with the bill(I saw the same thing happen in the two tables sitting beside us!) Overall, decent place. However, might want to try something new next time and I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re short on time since the waiting service is not the best.

Interested as to what Shila/Isabelle ordered, wondering if there’s any gluten free options here. Everyone else here has written on what they actually ordered. Amongst the asian community, it’s not regarded as a HK style café at all: Big Boss, Café Glouchester, Goldstone, now those are classics. Cattle’s café claim to fame is their value-size soups and noodles, all custom choices. A cousin of Deer Gardens ;)

I saw a review of this place on the October 29th front page of Unilocal and decided to try this place since it’s actually reasonably close to my house. The hours of operation are very easily accessible. It is your typical HK style café with some things that are diet compatible. Décor is nice and food came out in a reasonable manner.

Cattle Café how I love thee. It’s like going to a Chinese McDonalds. You enter, you order and you know what you’re going to get. I like that! They have an extensive menu, but it’s simple and effective and the photo’s always help the undecided to figure out what they would like to order, when they don’t even know it. The clean minimalist concept design makes me feel like I’m in a 60’s comedy hut or Science Fiction show like Space 1999. Lots of glossy white. Parking can be a bit of an issue, especially when you go when it’s busy. Dinner or lunch time can be a bit bothersome to park, but outside of those times. You may be lucky to find a spot. We found one just in front of the restaurant. Thank you Parking Angels. The prices are decent and you get decent food. I wouldn’t say it’s healthy if you consider yourself a Raw Veganist but if you need to fill your aching belly, then you’ll be satisfied with all the CARB options here. Sorry Gluten Free people. No options for you here… well, there is… boiled veggies. They do have vegetarian options. Don’t expect organic either. Hell, this is a Chinese HK style diner not the Naam.

Ordered the Szchezuan hot pot. Super spicy! Our throats were closing as we drank the broth. We complained to the young male waiter and he was ok with us substituting for something else. Thank you understanding. I know it’s a loss in revenue and there are trolls hoping to take advantage of situations like these. but seriously we didn’t expect our order to be that crazy spicy. So thanks again! Will be back!

It was late and I wasn’t really hungry, but I did have a craving for something sweet. I was sick and tired of the old tried and true, Earls, Keg, and Cactus Club. Deciding to go for something Asian… Cattle Café was calling me… Curry Fish Balls, a night market staple, and now, available in Burnaby… way too close to my place. I don’t really like the presentation, I prefer them in a bowl so as to keep them warmer. The balls had a good bounce, but the curry sauce could have been spicier… I expected an even dozen, but as you can see, we only got 11… weird, right? Now this isn’t something I would normally order, but the Mango Shake with Grass Jelly was actually really refreshing after the fish balls. Creamy, cold, sweet with a few chunks of jelly. It’s so refreshing and I have to say, it’s a decadent treat… just once in a This was a new treat for me… Sliced Beef Satay Hand Squeezed Fish Noodles. Even though it’s noodles made of soup, it’s actually not fishy at all! The texture is a bit chewy, almost al dente. The satay soup was spicy, but not hot, flavourful and really right. The beef soaked up the soup and made the meat super tender. One of the things I like about Cattle Café is the fact that you can add little snacks to their soup noodles to round out your meal. This was my add-on for the night… Pan-Fried Turnip Cake. With just a bit of onions and some spices, these cubes were crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. Flavours were a bit mild, but good enough as a snack… Ok, so remember at the beginning of the post, when I said I had a craving for something sweet? So… everything I ate up until this golden Bubble Waffle showed up was just gravy. This was the whole point for the entire visit. And yes, it was worth it. Just a little crispy, soft and chewy on the inside… I really should just get this to go next time and avoid all the noodles and snacks! Nah, who am I kidding, the dessert is totally worth the wait!

This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. The service from the beginning was beyond awful, but we were still willing to see how our meal was. The meal took around half an hour to get to the table and when it did arrive the order was wrong and it took even longer to get the right order to the table. When are food did arrive hairs were found in the soup and when we told our server she didn’t want to deduct it off our bill. I will never return to this restaurant!

Good place to get HK style noodle soup. Lots of options and opens late. My favourite soup base is peanut sauce & chilli soup. Combo with fried chicken wings and cold milk tea + coffee make it a good meal.

There aren’t that many Hk stlye cafes remaining in the Burnaby area. Most of the ones that used to exist have either all gone out of business, significantly gone down in quality, or just have raised prices making it not worth it anymore to visit them.(I’m looking at you«The Boss»). So it’s nice to see sometimes that there are still a couple options when you have that cheaper asian craving. Cattle Café has been around for a little while and have expanded into a couple new locations. This one is probably one of the most accessible and more centralized towards the Burnaby crowd. The food here is as you would expect from a hk style café. It’s nothing spectacular, but definitely a bit better than Crystal mall food. It’s a bit more expensive than Honolulu, but the food tastes a bit better. If you’re looking for a fast hk style lunch, this is probably the place.

I do not usually have a good experience at Cattle Café, the service, the food and atmosphere. But surprisingly, I decided to give it another try since it was late at night and lots of restaurants were closed. I know they have 3 locations on Kingsway, and I would say that this is the best one. Upon arriving, we were seated and greeted right away. They were not too busy inside so the service was good. They have a good selection of items, including food, drinks and dessert. The menu itself looks a little torn and ripped on the side, so that can be replaced. It did look a little messy inside since there were menus everywhere and the chairs were all over the place. The gentleman that served us was great! He understood and spoke fluent English which is a plus. We ordered the mini baked spaghetti with meat sauce, and french toast with ice cream. Drinks were cold lemon tea, and hot horlick. Also, we got the baked mix sauce with pork on rice which was for take out. The food came out quickly, and everything tasted delicious! The mini baked spaghetti with meat sauce was the perfect size, and had enough flavour to it. The french toast with ice cream was good, minus the melted ice cream they served us which tasted pretty bad. You had to add an extra $ 1.00 for cold drinks but it was a good size, worth the extra dollar. They never came back to fill our tea or check up on us, but most Asian restaurants don’t. It was good overall, minus the other girl server who was really lazy and quite rude. Instead of coming around the table to give us menu and even serve our food, she just threw it across another table to us. She was the one that made the drinks, and took the payment but what wasn’t that appealing was the fact that she kept touching her face and hair without washing her hair after. And she was also on the phone for more than half of our meal, clearly it did not seem like she wanted to be there. Overall, it was a very very positive experience with lots of good service from the gentleman and delicious food. They can work on hygiene a bit more, especially in a restaurant setting. I would definitely recommend the baked pork on rice with the mix sauce for anyone that is super hungry!

On an iffy Monday morning, since a few of my friends were not working, we dared the possibility of rain and ventured out to play a round of golf! Before our 1:45 tee time we grabbed a quick bite at Cattle Café. I’ve been here a few times. I’m lukewarm on this place. The food is ok but again just nothing special about it! I had their noodle soup dish… Kind of bland soup! To me the whole dish was bland! Someone said maybe I ordered the wrong dish… Whatever… I’m just not that impressed by this place! Service was robotic. Getting a smile from a waitress here is like trying to pull her teeth out! Oh well they always seem to be busy; they’re not in need of my business!

This is definitely my go-to place for a bbt /snack session with my friends in the evening! I really like their tom yum soup with ramen noodles. Also, their red bean drink dessert with ice cream is super yummy! I recommend ordering just the soups because the rest of their food is pretty sub-par… unless you’re getting the French toast or bubble waffles because it’s almost impossible to screw that up. but the noodle soup usually never disappoints!

Dropped by here on a Sunday afternoon for some ‘quick’ lunch. When our party of 5 arrived, there was a 10 minute wait. We waited 5 minutes and then we were seated. We ordered– Pork Chop & Egg with rice in Teriyaki Sauce: came with a free hot drink. Had a hot lemon tea… it was extremely bitter — not sour — bitter. Anyway, The pork chop came out all crispy skinned and lean, loved it. The egg white was cooked, but the yolk was still gooey– loove. Loved the whole dish Noodle soup with chicken broth, beef slices & enoki mushroom + side of curry fish balls: the fish balls came first; 5 small pieces on a plate xD. The noodle dish was standard. Hand-pulled noodle with beef: came with a free hot drink. The noodles were slightly chewy(what I love about hand-pulled noodles. see Sha Lin review), and the broth was flavourful. Liked this better than the previous noodle dish. Overall, this place is great if you feel like eating communal style, without having to fork out $ 30+ like in standard tableclothed Chinese restaurants.

Cattle Café, probably THE original create-your-own noodle soup restaurant, in our opinion. If not the original, then one of. It’s not bad here, but then again, you can never go wrong with a large cozy bowl of noodle soup, made to your liking. We prefer Deer Garden over Cattle Café though. Noodle Soup Combo — $ 8.50(5⁄7) Nothing too special. The toppings are plentiful and the soup is delicious. Come here on a rainy day and this will taste like heaven. The above picture is of the Parsley and Century Eggs Fish Soup broth. Spareribs in Black Bean Sauce with Rice(5⁄7) — $ 6.50 This was absolutely delicious! Ultimate comfort food. There was a good amount of spareribs to rice ratio, however, a few more helpings of the veggies would have been nice. Ratings: Food: 5⁄7 Value: 5⁄7 Service: 5⁄7

I have been all Cattle Café at Richmond, 2 in Burnaby and this one in Vancouver. However, I wasn’t their fans! As usual, the noodle bowl built with your own topping and complimentary hot drink. The noodle soup flavour was good and ingredients were full on top of the bowl. I found this location parking was sucked!

Where have you been all my life? I love noodle soup and this place lets me decide what goes in it. Sure they have a ton of other dishes, but I am sold on noodle soup. We decided to come here after my friends went on a rampage while shopping. Do you remember Rampage? That was the best video game… that is also the best way to describe my friends shopping. We parked on the street rather than in the lot because V was driving a rental and it’s way huger than his regular car. So many choices… I opted for the chicken broth with pieces of beef and Spam(yu-huh… they have it) atop crystal yam noodles. I prayed for konnyakku noodles. Phewf. You get a hot drink with your meal, but for $ 1 more, you can get a cold drink. For a $ 1 more, I got a can of coke. It was the silver Christmas can with all the polar bears all over it… It’s okay… it’s a coke, I still love it. My husband ordered the sliced curry beef with an Ovaltine to drink. Since we were in a group, we ordered a bunch of their special eggs. I say special eggs because my friend D is batty over them. They are more than soft boiled, but less cooked than hard boiled. They taste a little sweet, like they were soaked in soy and sugar. So wonderful. I would try to make them, but would probably fail, so for $ 1.50 it makes sense to buy them. The soup was wonderful and huge. I couldn’t finish it all. I love those yam noodles. Apparently they are really low in calories and keep you full. Nigella used them to lose weight. So far nothing for me, but one can hope. I love this place…

Wow, another Cattle Café?! Well, I’m not complaining — it does the job and it isn’t crowded(yet). They have lo-mein added to their customizable noodle menu. And they’ve added sweet potato noodle(just like Deer Garden. hmmm… who’s noodle café will reign supreme… j/k, Deer Garden obv) Anyways, I tried out the black sesame oil with sweet potato noodle, beef brisket and cuttlefish. Not a bad combo. Comes with a bowl of chicken broth, that tastes pretty Knorr-like. The other two oil possibilities were both spicy. The cubed radish cake was über spicy — not what I was expecting, even after scraping off the onion chili topping. In and out within 30 minutes, good to add another express meal location to my arsenal of quick eats.

Awesome for late night munchies! After too much karaōke & not enough dinner, we were meandering for grub on Kingsway. Then we saw the shining beacon of Cattle Café. We stopped immediately. Service: standard HK café aloof-ness but easy to flag down & helpful. Food: French Toast($ 4.95 incl. drink) — pre cut = non-traditional presentation. BUT more surface area for drenching w/golden syrup! — my friend’s 1st experience w/Chinese-style french toast: thumbs up! BBQ Unagi Sandwich w/Fries($ 6.95 incl. drink) — as a HK café vet, not much jumps out at me anymore. Except this. This I had to try! — glazed unagi + white bread + cucumber slices = perfect ratio, simple & delicious — I swear HK café share a secret fries recipe. So freakin’ crunchy! — Horlick: on point. Then again, how do you screw that up? Octopus, Tripe(& other gelatinous bits.) in Satay Sauce — satay sauce: good — can’t vouch for the more adventurous bits. Heard no complaints from across the table either. Now I just need an excuse to swing by the area so I can try their soup noodles!

ya! Finally a Cattle Café that’s close to home! Collingwood neighbourhood is already filled with yummy chinese fast food joints, but I won’t complain about this new addition! I’m not a big fan of their rice dishes(got sick once from their baked seafood fried rice at the metrotown location…)BUT it’s this chain has AMAZINGSOUPS! Try the fish soup with parsley and century egg YUM! Highly recommend this place if you’re low on budget too! and $ 8 bowl of soup will last you two meals(well it does for me). Very filling! This café is a big small though, so all the tables are very close together and parking can be a pain since the parking lot is SUPERTINY and the spots are even smaller! I suggest parking on the street nearby, or just walk there if you’re in walking distance!
