Everything I’ve ate there as been good, egg Benedict is amazing. Great vibe as well. Love the 90s rap playlist I heard there one Saturday. Menu could be a bit better. Service could have been abit better

Solid 3.5 stars, probably the least pretentious pub-like with the Cascade et all up a few blocks. Totally casual, and if I had known their was wifi, I’d rather do work here than Timmy’s across the street, at least, a bit more action here than students. Ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which was more than decent, just wished the corn tortillas were better in texture and taste. But the poached eggs & a generous portion of avocado & black beans did the trick. I’d come back again though it’s probably not something you have on your hit list. It’s got a good bar seating up front on the right. Pics will have to wait til I return from my European trip, in case of those eager or doubtful eyes ;)

I came here with a group of friends after a Unilocal party to grab some food and tell some tails about our plans for costumes. Our server was quite friendly and very knowledgable about music so I enjoyed my chat about upcoming bands to town. As for food I ordered a chicken warp with fries which had a considerable amount of avocado and was just ok. The ambiance was cool with good music and friendly folks around!

Came here a few nights back for drinks. By far the best service I’ve seen in a long time. The waitress was super attentive and friendly and came by to check on our table and refill my water frequently even though I nursed one drink for a couple of hours. Will definitely come back here to try the food.

I went back for a second try based on many friends’ recommendations… and lo and behold, it was great! The server was awesome and attentive, the food came out fast and hot, and was delicious! I will, now, definitely go back here.

Pretty much one of my favourite spots on Main Street. I love all their foods. The steak is so good as well as the Burgers and Salads. They got a ton of delicious beers on tab.

I had a problem with the middle aged woman as well. My Co workers and I are regulars who always tip. We go 1 or 2 times a week. She starts off by cramming 6 of us at a 4 person table. When we go to pull over another 2 person table she runs over and snaps«What do you think you’re doing?» when we calmly explain to her she flips out and goes on a furious rant about how the place gets full and they always put 6 people at this 4 person table. She spoke to us in such a rude tone, it was incredibly inappropriate. I have never been lashed out at like this as a regular paying customer. I tried to reason with her, because the place was pretty empty and I’ve only seen it full a few times, and we are in and out in an hour but logic made her even crazier. It was super stressful. After I loudly complained about how she treated us and that it was still empty 30 mins later she ran over and pulled the table over and snapped that I can move if I wanted… wow. What a horrible woman! She didn’t even attempt to act like a normal human being. I will never eat here again and make sure my Co workers won’t either. Her bad attitude is well known in my office. I also threw up that night, which I haven’t in years, I can only speculate as to why. So be warned. On a positive note all the young waitress have always been lovely, it’s too bad one bad apple had to spoil this place.

I came here around 10:30pm with friends, the middle-aged lady running the place was super unwelcoming and unfriendly. When we walked in, she frowned at us across the room and motioned for us to wait. By the time she finally reached our small group, quietly crowding by the entrance — she told us we ought to have waited 1 ft away from where we stood by the door. After we gave her our order of drinks,(I was the designated driver) she angrily informed us that we should be ordering more alcohol plus entrees(this was around 10:30pm on a Friday night!). When I asked for a water later, she hesitated and said that she normally didn’t give people who ordered so little, water. A friend needed to take his medication and required water, we asked for it 3x until she finally gave us water. The drinks were okay, but not worth all the stress or hassle. I am truly appalled at the rude, slow and unprofessional service complete with dirty looks and sighs. My friends and I felt discriminated and will never to patronize this place again.

Horrible horrible service at this place. Walked in with a few friends and we’re basically treated like children! Waitress was pissed that we were only ordering drinks! Crappy attitude!

Came here second time and thought maybe the first time I may have been wrong about the service but I was right super bitchy … People come out to your restaurant to enjoy and be treated good not poorly food may be good but the service is something to be desired ordered a burger and got a sandwich not cool when I brought the servers attention to the mistake they asked if I was sure? Hello I think I know what I wanted to eat

I would give this place 3.5 stars. My friends and I came here one night after playing pool down the street. We were pretty much dying for a beer or something. It was a really nice place. Something I expect to be located on Main or even on Commerical drive. They had a small patio outside that maybe fit about a few tables. Overall, the place looks pretty good. Our server came by a few times to check up on us. Gave us what we ordered. We had no complaints asides from when we asked whats on tap or beers that they had she pointed to a wall of them(a bit overwhelmed in my perspective with what they had to offer) and we had to stand up and walk around. This was only because we were seated at the first booth closest to the door and you there is another wall that blocks our view. I noticed they carried a lot of local beers from the local brewery like parallel 49 brewery. I thought that was pretty cool. I’m all about supporting the locals the best I can. We ordered nachos and I felt like they could have put a bit more nachos on the plate than the toppings. The toppings were a bit overwhelming. Overall, not a bad place to try out. I would recommend it to others to try out and I myself will probably come by again to try out other beers.

We initially were going to Rosemary Rocksalt across the street but wanted more of a sit down place for breakfast on a weekday.(Out of towner on vacation for the first time in Vancouver). A recommendation from a friendly employee at a local café told us about Barneys. This place was great! I got the scrambled veggie plate on a Rosemary Rocksalt bagel, which comes with hashbrowns on the side. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while The server was very good to us with drink refills, quick to take our order, and friendly to us Americans. Hit this place up if you need breakfast in the Van City! .or just grab a beer there or whatever

Food: 3⁄5 Service: 2⁄5 Ambiance: 4⁄5 Came here on a weeknight for a quick drink and bite to eat. I had a stout(forgot the name) listed on the daily beer selections chalkboard behind the bar. Paired it with a pulled pork poutine($ 12). Nothing extraordinary and the poutine portion was fair for the price tag. I happened to be in the neighbourhood but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here again. They have 4 – 5 patio seats.

Good overall brunch(egg benny bacon and avocado) but I found the sauce was a bit too buttery and overly salty

Sitting in a coffee shop, therefore, taking the time to clear out some of the drafts that have been sitting in my inbox for 4 months of local reviews in attempt to reduce my list one at a time(I have over 60 drafts). This place has been on my bucket list for a long time, however, it gets very busy on the weekends, therefore, used the extra time off to come down here to eat their food. I got the nachos, half order. The half order was HUGE. If the half order was like a full serving, I was scared to know what a full serving was. Full serving is $ 14 and half is $ 12. Price didn’t make sense to me at all. The service was quick and made in less than 10 minutes. There wasn’t a lot of people at the table, therefore, understandably quick. I made some instant friends with the other patrons at the bar and shared my nachos with them. Had a good chat with the couple beside me about Sue Johansen(sp?) and geriatric sex. In the background they played Tomb Raider.

A great find. Doesnt look like much on the outside but consistently excellent food and service within. The seafood chowder is especially delicious. Great for brunch as well(huevos rancheros, omelets, and eghs benedict). Good craft beer selection.

for a small space, they can fit in a lot of people, and yet still be heard. The cook is amazing at banging the plates out.- imagine cooking breakfast for a 12 top, while simultaneously taking care of the other tables. All the diners at the 12 top got their order pretty much right away, and nobody’s was cold! Quality– the ‘bangers’ I ordered with my ‘basic’ brunch wasn’t your typical brit greasy sausage; it was delicious! The bread that came with it was an artisan multigrain, with a ½ oz. of raspberry preserve. Coffee refills came often, and was fresh and hot. They have a decent selection of beers on tap worth checking out later in the day. They don’t take reservations, so if you come as a group, it will likely be a while waiting while they create a table for you, but they WILL make every effort to accommodate you.

I came here on BC Day to have brunch with some old friends after we discovered Locus down the street was closed(their website holiday hours lie!!). It was a nice day and my friend was dog sitting, so we chose Caffe Barney because it had a little outdoor patio where we could sit outside with the dog. As it was a holiday in the morning, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. I ordered the Eggs Barney, as eggs benedict is my brunch staple and I love me a smoked salmon benny. I was a bit surprised when the plate came out and the smoked salmon was not the cured salmon like I normally expected, but was fully cooked(albeit with a smokey flavour) salmon. A bit disappointing, but oh well. It tasted fine, but knowing that it’s cooked smoked salmon, I probably wouldn’t order it next time. No other complaints about the place; the cubed potato hash that came with the eggs benny was nice and golden. Our server was friendly, no complaints. That being said, I wouldn’t be in a rush to come back for brunch.
