Being new to Vancouver I came here unexpectedly in search for an easy Sunday brunch. It’s rather quaint for otherwise ritzy coal harbour. It has a charming level of grunge and ruggedness of a coffee shop that’s been around the block. I order the ‘big breakfast’ for $ 10 which includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, frozen hashbrown, toast, and small coffee. Everything except for the dark roast was utterly disappointing. Microwave eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and stale bread. The type of eggs you’d expect on a morning long-haul Air Canada flight. I reluctantly force fed myself the eggs. Both Safeway and Urban Fare can offer better breakfast for less. The pastries are baked in-house, and are delicious. I tried the crossaint and it was fluffy, soft, and comforting. They should stick to a full service coffee /baked goods shop and ditch the full meals. Service is barely passable. The cashier doubles as a barista and pastry fulfillment agent. All staff don’t seem too engaged or willing to interact or greet customers. The store design makes it awkward for new guests to settle in and order from the counter. If I happen to crave a pastry after a long walk along the sea wall I’ll be back, but other than that time to find a new brunch spot. 2 stars for pastry and location.

Ordered 2 chai lattes to keep warm while we walked around the seawall. I took a sip once outside and the chai was just barely luke warm. I returned and requested they heat them up. The girl working took both drinks and put them in the microwave — lid on. When she took them out, a short 45 seconds later, they were both overflowing out the top, she simply double cupped them and gave them back. I went back to my husband a little shocked at this poor preparation and tasted my newly heated chai. So bland(better work on the chai concentrate to milk ratio you got going on) and now just over Luke warm, not the hot chai I was hoping for. I should have gone back and requested them to make me a new drink but just really wanted to start my walk… 2 stars because the pastries looked good.

I am so confused by this place. It’s in the middle of Coal Harbour, across from Cardero’s. Overlooking the water, major views, it’s just a stunning part of Vancouver. So I’m expecting… From the name… A cute little Italian coffee shop where I can get some breakfast midday and enjoy the view. Well. The address is wrong(front door says 1510). Seating is weird… In that the views are obscured mostly by columns, tables, an extra door, weird set up. I find bench seating around the corner — yay — but it’s dirty and poorly maintained. Everything needs a good scrub, paint, refresh. Someone has done half-assed patches and repairs over the years, and it makes it look worse than if they’d just left it. There’s a chunk missing from a corner of a wall, and I’m scared to sit on the padded bench seats. No one else seems to care, so I feel a bit Twilight Zone –y. Is it really just me? Food: there’s good and not so good here. Lots of pastries, they cook themselves, there’s tea, coffee, smoothies, etc, standard stuff. I order something where I don’t want toast, and the staff member automatically changes my order so that I’m charged less. Nice. When the food comes though… Cup has black finger marks on the inside, and the eggs… Are pink. In many places. This just isn’t right. I eat the bacon and have an allergic reaction to… I don’t know what. I’m allergic to strawberries, and I see none anywhere. Customer service: you can tell the staff take pride in their work, and truly want to serve. It’s refreshing. Having said that, I had to repeat myself a lot due to language barriers. WiFi: couldn’t stay connected consistently, even with another user saying it’s always good just a few days ago. Only saw one plug for laptops, perhaps there’s more hidden away, I didn’t search. I wanted to love this place, I wanted to make it my new«office». I just can’t. I’ll give it three stars for effort, but really, it’s a two at best.

Great food, great location, fast and friendly service. We enjoyed coffee, yogurt parfait and a delicious breakfast sandwich.

There’s a part of me that wants to give this a bad place a review. Being my favourite coffee shop, because of the never failing wifi, big tables, empty space, and amazing view of the harbour. I feel like I want to keep it a secret from anyone else. :) Love the 3 star reviews it currently has. The staff is very friendly, and as a regular for the past month they always make sure I receive a cheerful farewell/goodbye every time I leave. The lattes are bigger/better/cheaper than Starbucks or any other coffee shop I’ve studied at. After trying to find one for a year that isn’t crowded and I can finally get things done without the wifi failing on me, I’ve been blessed to have found this place. Anyway. For anyone else reading this. Stay away. Lol.

They offer full breakfast and lunch options. Awesome if you work in the building and don’t want to venture too far out of the office. Very affordable. I used to come here for the lattes which were always made to my specifications. I recently came back on the way to get my passport renewed for a trip and needed something from an establishment that was open early enough that wasn’t a chain store and more mom and pop. Very decent size and tables. Always busy. Customer service has always been fantastic. I have yet to try their full meals, therefore, this is for the coffee only hence why this is part of the 100 coffee shops in 52 weeks challenge.

I live nearby and have made several dozen trips here. They have fantastic pastries, but I find the coffee to be less than ideal. Must tries are the sour cherry turnover and the hazelnut crossaint.

Awful food! Cheap ingredients, huge portions, dirty! It’s like food from Safeway only it is even worse. Not many places in this area that is why they survive.

I ordered a cajun chicken wrap for lunch today. The wrap contained a lot of rice, a little bit of diced chicken a few pieces of celery, zucchini, and bell pepper, and a HUGE amount of mayonnaise. The wrap was microwaved, making the ends crunchy and the inside scalding hot. It was absolutely revolting.

Went there twice for breakfast and enjoyed it! Had a roast-beef sandwich, a breakfast wrap, coffee, hot chocolate and orange juice. Everything was fine and delicious. Staff is very kind and helpful. Even though it was crowded they were nice, polite and effective fast preparing and serving our order.

My rating is 1.5 out of 5 stars. Their latte is so-so and brioche ok. My main gripe is with the staff’s service which is usually not friendly. Apart from the great location which is right by Coal Harbour marina, I would rather go to other cafes.

Nice location for this little café. We came across it while out for a walk(we were also looking for a breakfast spot). There are a surprising number of tables and it seemed quite busy. We both had lattes(good, reasonable size). My friend had a breakfast sandwich which he felt he paid a little much for. I had a BELT which was a bacon and egg salad sandwich? Random but tasty. This isn’t a destination spot but it did the trick for a quick and easy breakfast. Would have been better if they cleaned off the tables a bit more frequently. Lots of customers were having to do their own.

Located right by the bay. We were in that area early in the morning and wanted something for a picnic in Stanley park. Choice: we had smoked salmon sandwich, maple basket(maple and nuts pastries) and almond milk latte. The pastry and sandwich were both delicious. Sandwich also came with side of greens with yummy balsamic vinegrette dressing. Pluses are location, big window looking out the water and mountain is pretty gorgeous, baked goods Minuses for decidedly weird service, ok coffee and rather expensive light meal. The cashier and barista are pleasant but definitely not friendly or memorable. Coming from Seattle, I’m just spoiled by how coffee shop always makes you feel right at home. Don’t expect it here but again I am not home !

One of the better coffee shops in the area. It’s also one of the few(if not the only one) that actually serves up entrees such as lasagne and other yummy dishes. Great coffee and desserts too. The food including the desserts are all made in house. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Best coffee shop on this side of Coal Harbour. Very cozy and comfortable setting, good coffee, great selection of pastries(try Pistachio croissant), and various breakfast options and sandwiches. It’s just a little costly for what it is, hence 4-star, otherwise it would have been 5-star!

The cashier tries to do double duty as barista, and, because they have no one to port drinks to the table, customers must wait near the till while she makes the drinks. This makes it awkward for those standing in line, unacknowledged. Finally getting my order(coffee and brioche) I notice that the condiments are shoved in a corner farthest from the door. The ‘brioche’ reminds me more of a chinese pork bun in texture, and the ‘caramel’ more akin to a spoon of nutella. And they charge $ 3. for it! Pappa Roti’s coffee buns are better for the same price!

Great café that I like to stop at when I’m in the area. I’ve always enjoyed the coffee I’ve had there and the sandwiches are great. The service is usually friendly.

There is no stopping me from not stopping in here! Man, those cakes and pastries make me wish calories accounted for nothing. Just in case you have never seen the little cakes and pastries made here, they are exquisite. The baker has, if anything, a TALENT for cake decorations. Oh, they are delicious as hell too. The Guette(thick chocolate cake with raspberry jam) is my favourite so far. That’s only because I haven’t tried everything! We bought the Pistachio cheesecake for my dear mother’s birthday last month. The cake was lovely, but we were just not completely in love with the flavour as we thought we might be. However, it was as good as it can be and we still enjoyed every bite of it! The next person might very well disagree and say this is the best cake in the shop. Summer time is smoothie time. If you haven’t tried a smoothie here… well, you should!

Conveniently located by the marina, friendly service, merely passable eats. I wouldn’t have bothered, but there isn’t much else by to grab a quick bite unless you want to hoof it deeper into town. I did dig the fresh squeeze juice machine, it’s a looker. Had to take a snap of it to post. Otherwise this joint is unremarkable.
