We used to come here every week. Service is getting progressively worse. Seem like not enough people employed so there is a big waiting time. Ones cane on Friday there was just one person cooking, making waffles and coffee… Food is ok. Coffee is not good. Watery even when you take small size espresso based. Will find something else…

This year i’ve been on a bit of a waffle kick, therefore, trying to hit up the best waffle places or noted ones in the city. I think that in general waffles are the new pink of 2014. This place actually came to my attention as I saw a review posted on the May 7th front page of Unilocal. It did take me a while to get here. Lots to choose from. Prices are $$ but the waffles was really good. Best to come on the weekdays when the line up is a little more tame.

Not a bad little waffle place located near Coal Harbour /the financial district where it’s often tough to get a coffee on the weekend when lots of places only open Mon-Fri. The menu largely consists of sweet or savoury waffles which ranges from around $ 8-$ 15 depending on the toppings. The coffee is also pretty good and meticulously made, which means its not quick. I had the waffles with strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. The fruit was fresh and not frozen which is nice to see. Three star place with an extra star for being open on a Sunday where few others are.

I wanted to come downtown to walk my dog around Coal Harbour so I figured I’d give this place a try. The inside is very nice. Updated décor and just a nice feel to it. I shared a Sicilian panini with my wife and we each had a waffle. The panini was perfectly crisp on the outside and warm, melty and flavourful on the inside. One of the better ones I’ve had. The waffle had strawberries, banana and blackberries on it along with chocolate and strawberry whipped cream. I like that they made it fresh. It was still nice and crispy and not overly sweet. It’s a lot more filling than it looks. I’d definitely come back here again.

Liege Waffle $ 3.954⁄5 — chewer, less sweet and less sugar than most of the liege I’ve had. I guess coz it had less sugar(minimal icing sugar) on the waffle so that made it less crispier. The chewy texture was a little too much for me. It was also on the drier side. I liked the sweetness but not the texture. Given the price, I don’t think I would order it again unless I had a strong waffle craving. Apple Crumble Muffin $ 2.754.5÷5 — surprisingly moist. The cinnamon went so well with the apple. I would order this again. Matcha Latte M $ 4.252.5÷5 — it was super powdery. I’m not an expert in Matcha Latte but the texture was awkward. I was happy that she asked me if I want it sweetened or unsweetened.

Nothing too special about the food, but nothing wrong about it either. Freshly made waffle, fresh fruit. Bright, clean room, nice ambiance. Spacious tables and table spacing — unlike some places where you’re squashed in or have a rather small table. This adds to the sense of comfort and ease while you are enjoying your order. Might not seem like a big deal, but next time you’re dining out, pay attention to how much table you get.

I wanted to try this place for a while. I really got my hopes up; the wait is long, waffle soggy and coffee wasn’t good. I know liege waffles are supposed to be soft but what I got was just gross(berries on it were delish though) they use 49th parallel and usually I’m a big fan of those beans, but guys over at 49th should come back and retrain staff here. Staff also seemed a bit out of it.

We came here for some coffee and a bite. The environment is nice and the staff is very friendly. The waffles are also good: not too sweet nor greasy, fresh berries. A nice little place. I wish I had a place like this nearby back home.

I really wanted to love this place, especially given the proximity to home and work, but unfortunately, there were a few things that made it not so enjoyable. The BF and I stopped by this morning for a *quick* waffle before a road trip. Turns out, they aren’t very fast at all. I think it took at least 20 minutes before we got our waffles. Given that they pretty much only serve waffles and weren’t that busy, this was a big surprise. Add that to the fact that these waffles seem a bit overpriced for what they are — why can you get one type of berry for $ 1.50 but mixed berries is $ 3.50? That’s pretty pricey. The waffles themselves were ok, but were a little boring in my opinion. I expected them to be sweeter and fluffier. The berries were nice and fresh though, and the whipped cream was tasty. I just think it could be a lot better.

I went here because Nero’s was closed. It was decent but their coffee is overpriced in my humble opinion. The waffle was okay, but definitely not the best I’ve ever had. But please be aware that I haven’t been to Belgium on a waffle tasting tour before. The panini was actually delicious though. I am surprised how long it takes them to make a waffle even when it is not busy in there. Considering they are a waffle place and the word waffle is in their name, you’d think they would make waffles in a more timely manner. I would maybe go again but not regularly like another waffle place I know :)

SO disappointed! I love waffles and berries, there is nothing better. The first time we tried to go they told us that they were out of waffles(at 1pm on a Saturday) so we tried again today. They had waffles this time, but were out of mocha powder and diet coke and orange juice — so I settled with a coke. The setting is beautiful, it’s such a lovely area — unfortunately the only air you get is from the small entrance door — nothing inside. We were told it was going to be a 15 minute wait for waffles which is fine — by the time 35 minutes came by we finally got our waffles. Luckily for them the berries were very fresh, and tasty — the waffle however a little dry. It is a real shame because this place is stunningly gorgeous — I might give it a third try one day!

Super cute little place that’s walking distance from my home, which instantly gives it points. The waffles were nice — crispy leige-style(rather than the more chewy Brussels-style) and I had the most popular — strawberries, dark chocolate & whipped cream. As an extra delightful little surprise, the whipped cream was strawberry flavour!

Classy waffle joint. The liege waffles are quite delicious, especially with speculoos, which sort of tastes like warm, liquified Teddy Grahams ®. The prices are steep, however, at over $ 6 for a waffle with speculoos and no toppings. I think if they got that down to $ 5 they would see a lot more repeat customers, such as myself!

Kinda depends what you want; if it’s the atmosphere, Martha Steward/Yaletown furnishings, then this is it, with some classical music playing in the background. But for actual taste, upbeat ambience, I still prefer Nero’s on Robson St. still. Ordered the dark chocolate w/strawberries waffle, server still nice to add some whipping cream. Waffle had a sweet, almost-glazed texture to it, which I liked. Waffle was soft, though a tad more thicker, so not as fluffy, depending what one likes. Can say the dark chocolate was good. It’s a good place for the well to do folks here at Coal Harbour so it’s walking distance, and for the tourists too staying over at the Westing Bayshore. Wouldn’t make a deliberate attempt to come here, only if i’m in the mood and in the area. Nicer than Nero’s though to bring a date. Lemon Bar, brownie, apple pie, butter tart & nanaimo bar also available. Metered parking in front.

Contrary to the reviews below, I actually really liked this place. I am not, however, a waffle expert but I can say that the service and food were actually really good in my opinion. The place is quaint and nicely decorated. It is a café where you order and find a table, but so are all other coffee shops so this was no surprise to me. I ordered the caramel machiatto and it was delicious(not too sweet and at the perfect temperature). I also ordered a waffle with strawberries, blueberries, and nutella and it came with a dallop of fresh whip cream on top. It was a bit rich for my taste but delicious nonetheless(for reference, I also find normal nutella crepes quite rich). I did come with a social shopper where it was $ 13 for 2 hot drinks and 2 waffles with any toppings. The regular waffle prices compare to crepes so i think the price points are fair. But I do love the coffee. If I still worked downtown, I think it would’ve replace my Starbucks run.

A long weekend in Brugge last year became essentially a Belgian waffle marathon. So, I was excited to see a Belgian waffle place right up the street from us. The anticipation turned to disappointment as the waffles proved inferior and the service much the same. I was so eager to like this place… but left with my waffle craving remaining unfulfilled. The waffle itself was rather dense and chewy. From the small view into the kitchen, it looked like they were made with dough instead of batter. The waffle itself had a sweetness that should have been covered by the strawberries and whipped cream. It was definitely not the light, airy waffle with just a hint of crust we tasted all over Brugge. The service was, well, a little odd. It is unclear when you walk in whether there will be table service or ordering at the counter. We were told the kitchen was ‘busy’ and a waffle would require 30 minutes to prepare. The restaurant was only half full, and a couple of those tables already had their food. To be fair, our order arrived in 15 minutes. Two large parties came in behind us — one was told the kitchen was closed and the food would take 40 minutes and the other got the same 30 minutes. Both parties left upon hearing the news, meaning eight people walked out of a less-than-busy place. The choice of waffle toppings is pretty good — fruit or chocolate. They were offering speculoos the morning we went. It is a nice option if you are familiar with the delicious Belgian cookie, but hard to imagine the paste(or Nutella for chocolate fans) doing well on such a dense waffle. If you are not into waffles, they offer 4 or 5 choices of paninis. I was so rooting for Waffle & Berries, but it comes up pretty short.
Overpriced sandwiches and ok coffee. What it has going for it mostly is the fact that the nearest competition(Take 5) is worse. And the nearest competition after that is about three blocks away and is a Starbucks. So, if you’re in the neighbourhood and don’t feel like walking, and don’t mind spending a bit, go ahead. Note that I did not try the waffles, so maybe this review doesn’t apply to you if you want the waffles.

Nice atmosphere. Great service. Mediocre waffles. I love waffles. I especially love Belgian waffles. Thus I was quite disappointed when I tried a place whose namesake is waffles and the waffles tasted bland and mushy, rather than crispy. The waffles themselves have no real flavour, somewhat like eating thick heavy toast. If you do decide to get waffles here, is recommend shelling out the extra $ 3 for chocolate and berry toppings so you aren’t just stuck with the waffle itself. Or, go to the few new waffle places on robson, a block away, instead. That said, this place has great service! A very friendly Russian man(could have been the owner) was caring and attentive.
