Came here last evening for dinner and tried the hummus, calamari and had lamb and chicken souvlaki. Ruthy who served us was very friendly and approachable. As for the food, the hummus was good — would have been better if it had a bit more garlic taste. Calamari was very good too and the batter was not too filling and just right. The Greek salad was perfect, wasn’t too cheesy and fresh. The lamb and chicken souvlaki was pretty standard. Will definitely go back again as this is a better location and less crowded then the over-rated Stepho’s on Denman.

Very good food, friendly service, great prices, huge portions. We had the Roast Lamb, and the«Skorthalia» which is a dip made of almond, egg, garlic and spices, soooo good!

Wanted some takeout on Saturday. The only criteria were that it be downtown near Seymour and Nelson. This place was dead when we went in, but by the time we left several people had come in and sat down. Pretty standard«Mediterranean» décor, with a big screen on one side. The food was prepared quickly, and the prices pretty standard. Crispy calamari and good rice and chicken. The spanakopita was pretty tough however — had it been frozen or something? We had pretty serious garlic breath, standard for a Greek place. I would eat here again, no doubt.

My son & I ordered take out from Adonis last night, March 302013. SAVEYOURMONEY!!! The food arrived cold, tasteless, I ordered the lamb platter — it was full of fat and the meat was tough!!! The rice pilaf was greasy and boring and was a total disappointment. We called to cancel the order and the young girl who answered the phone was of no help, she did not understand a thing we said, so unfortunately we had to take the order.

We loved this place! We were visiting Vancouver for a week, and found is place based on its 4 star Unilocal reviews. Unilocal doesn’t do it justice. We would have kept eating if we hadn’t run out of food. I love finding places that allow me to eat enough food to actually feel full(not easy to do with my high metabolism) with a reasonable bill($ 37) and quality cuisine. We ordered the saganaki, which tasted good. For entrees, we shared the roast lamb meat platter and the moussaka. Both were outstanding. The lamb fell off the bone, the moussaka was full of meat, veggies, and cheese(?). We polished all of it off, and even had extra bread to clean the plates. The service was great. While this wasn’t surprising because the place was empty on a Wednesday night, they were super friendly and helpful. We would go to Adonis all of the time if we lived in Vancouver. Bad luck for us, good luck for you! We’re not sure why past reviews say eating in is weird. It is a nicely decorated place with friendly staff.

This place was dead when we were there, but it was a Wednesday night during a normal work week in Vancouver. Cam had a chicken gyro and I had the Adonis salad and the hummus. I don’t know what it is about Greek places serving 5x as much hummus as you have pita for, but that was certainly the case here. The hummus was unremarkable; it was pretty flavorless. I know not everyone is as much of a garlic fiend as I am, but jeeze, add some more flavor of some sort! The salad was great; the lettuce was fresh, as were the tomatoes and cucumbers and the dressing was really good. Cam liked his gyro. I felt terrible for the server because at the bar there was a guy who just kept ordering shots and wouldn’t stop hitting on her. When she finally told him she wasn’t interested(and she said it very nicely!) I was afraid he was going to fly off the handle. Fortunately, he just left, stumbling out the door and down the street glaring through the window at her. It made me a little uncomfortable, but what are you going to do… it wasn’t her fault. We might come back here for a quick bite to eat if we’re in the area, but I won’t go out of my way, and I certainly won’t order the hummus again.

Near Yaletown, Adonis provides excellent service and is very accommodating to kids. The friendly waitress tried to help our child as much as possible and gave her free apple juice and went out of her way to sterilize the highchair. I ordered the lamb souvlaki kebab with rice, potato, and a small salad. This was excellent and very tender. My DH ordered the chicken kebab, which he liked as well. We also ordered hummus for an appetizer. The pita bread was fluffy and hot and very good. The hummus was tasty as well. Portions are very generous.

I LOVED this place. It was close to our hotel at the Best Western and i love greek food so it was win-win. We came in and there was NOBODY in the restaurant but don’t let that fool you. The waiter(owner??) was very friendly. He was blasting some concert version of greek music and we loved it… didn’t understand a word that was being said but the crowd did and sang every word. anyways… i ordered the lamb pita and boy was i chowing down! I dumped ALL of the tzakiki(sp?) sauce on mine plus used my fries to clean out the rest! nom nom nom. Don’t let this little place fool you!

Came here on a whim(ie Unilocal hunting). The outside of the restaurant is nice and shiny. Parking kind of sucks here. The biggest problem with this location is that if you can’t find parking out front for whatever reason, you’re going across Granville Bridge. Outside was a sandwich board advertising $ 2.50 beer and $ 2.99 tequila shots. Unfortunately this ONLY applies to lunch(NOT dinner). We weren’t too happy with the«bait and switch» but what can you do. I ended up drinking water. The inside was not too clean, but had a cute little bar. The tablecloth where I sat was wet, and it was not from me. There was this one Greek song playing there that sounded very similar to Rebecca Black’s «Friday. Had a good laugh with the waitress. As an appy, they gave us pita bread. It was pretty bland. There was no tsatziki sauce, and even stranger, we didn’t get any plates to eat them on. So, we used our napkins. The food was pretty decent. The beef skewers were done well. The only complaint was that they burnt the ends of the skewers. So when I picked them up, they snapped off in my hand. At least we know the flame’s real. The roast lamb came right off the bone, and was silky smooth. Wow. The thing that set this place apart(and I’m not sure if this is a good thing) is the fact the food seems more bland than every other Greek place I ever had. The meat wasn’t as salty, but the blandess was noticeable for both the rice and the Greek salad. This probably also means that I won’t overload on sodium or sugar, but I’m not sure about this one to be honest. Overall, not a bad place, but there are also a ton of un-Yelped places on this block alone, so you have other options to check out too.

Adonis is one of Vancouver’s best-kept secrets for cheap, fantastic Greek food. The best roast lamb and chicken souvlaki(my personal favourite) in town. Excellent service and very friendly and inviting staff. Lots of people get their food to go, but we usually sit down and eat here. It’s never super crowded so it is great if you are out with a group of friends and decide to grab a bite to eat at the last second.

Lol, my review is very similar to the review below. I swear I didn’t copy. I do have to agree with him that their calamari is very good. and I had not mentioned that in my review. I am not sure why this restaurant is not more popular. It never really gets mentioned. I have eaten there many times. The service has always been super friendly. The food is very tasty. It is always easy to get a seat. I think the room is very quaint and comfortable. I pretty much always get the Chicken Souvlaki Kababs platter. The chicken is always tender and very flavorful. The other ingredients are fresh. I just find it to be a very pleasant dining experience.

This little gem does not get the attention it deserves! If my food baby could handle the carb overload, I would eat here nightly! I’m always pleased with the service, the generous portions, and the yummy calamari! It’s true that the restaurant is rarely full, which is a shame — we’ve been here several times, and never been disappointed!

Tiny little restaurant on busy Granville street — I was drawn in by the menu listing saganaki on it — I’m a *huge* fan of saganaki. Sadly, this wasn’t it — it was mozzarella instead of a traditional Greek cheese, but it was still melty and tasty. Their avgolemono soup was really good, though also different than I’ve had before — it was broth instead of creamy, but lemony and delicious. I will have to try to make it at home. Otherwise, the rest of the food was merely okay. Friendly staff, but we were the only customers in the restaurant for dinner. Doh.
