This is the worse Korean restaurant I have been to in Vancouver /Richmond in all respects. I came here for dinner with the family on a Saturday night. As expected being on Alexandra Road it was busy. We wanted a simple quick dinner of rice and noodle dishes. The dining room was not full when we got there but still waited 10 mins to get seated. We got our table and given a pot of tea without a lid. It made serving the tea an experience! Menus were dropped on the table without any explanation of items even when I asked for some suggestions. We eventually ordered 3 soup dishes and a pancake. My ox bone soup arrived as a nicely coloured broth but was devoid of any flavour! It had slices of beef which were also tasteless. When I asked the waitress why the soup was so bland she gave me a shaker of salt and pepper and was told to put them with the green onion(that came without explanation) in the broth. None of these condiments helped. The tofu soup had spiciness but beyond that the broth was lacking flavour. The rice cake and dumpling soup had ok dumplings but the soup was the same broth but with the addition of salt! We never did get the pancake we ordered and didn’t bother reminding the server. I make it a point to praise and criticize restaurants I spend my money at. When I raised all the points with whom I thought was the head server(?) she gave her apologies and said I could have the dinner for free. I declined as I usually do to these offers and hope my criticisms would change their ways. Being on Alexandra Road with all the completion you’d think they could do better. Maybe the regulars know what to order because the place got full while we were there but for my money I will go to Haroo down the street.

We came here on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday dinner. Pricing is regular priced as any other Korean places. We ordered a Jap Chae, seafood pancake, small bone soup, and a sizzling plate of ribs and the bill was about 27 $ each between 4 people. Food is quite tasty and presentation is just like any other. Our side dishes didn’t arrive until we were probably ¾ done with dinner and we got: kimchi, sweet potatoes, and bean sprouts and the portions of the side dishes were so small. I deducted a star for poor service. Not only were they slow at getting us a table that was already reserved, they obviously lacked communication and only half of the restaurant was opened. Service is definitely no the greatest; I think they either need to hire a few more people or they be more efficient and attentive as it was so hard to flag anyone down for simple things like tea and they are always in a hurry to go. The laminate floor was bumpy and you can literally jump up and down on it. Not all tables had the fan above for bbq and area was probably too crowded. Renovations are still ok. Parking available in parking lot.

Everything was average. The menu was standard for Korean cuisine. Inner atmosphere was dark and cold. Servers forgot our order a few times.

I was so dreadfully disappointed with this restaurant. First off, it is in desperate need of an renovation. It is extremely cold inside and unkept. There were cobwebs in the windows, and small flies all over the place(due to oil splatters on the walls). The food was mediocre and the service was amateur at best. I really think they need to improve their facilities to attract customers. Will not go back.

Took a weekend day trip recently to Vancouver. Was on the hunt for a restaurant for dinner in Richmond. The thing is that it seems like reservations are a must at the most popular eateries. And there tends to be a long wait for a table if you don’t. After checking out a couple restaurants only to find they were full, I ended up at Woe Ga Jib. Upon entering the entrance area, you will notice that there are two different eating areas. The one on the left was filled with diners, while the«quiet area» seemed completely deserted. Decided to sit in the main dining room on the left. The menu here has your typical Korean dishes including many soups, noodles and Korean barbecue. Prices seemed to be reasonable for some things and expensive for others. I had a sore throat and wasn’t feeling great, so I decided to order the ox bone soup with potato noodles($ 9.95CAD). The ox bone soup is known in Korean as sul lung tang. It is boiled to the point that the broth is clear and a milky white. The soup arrives unseasoned, so you add salt and pepper based on your preference. I liked the soup as it was just what I needed to fight my sore throat. The meat inside the soup though was a bit on the tough side. The soup could have used some green onions on top, but none were provided. While banchan(side dishes) is usually offered when you are eating at Korean restaurants, I didn’t receive any. I think it is because I ordered soup. For the entrees that do include banchan, they only give you a few sides here whereas other places may give you 5 or 6 items. The service left something to be desired. Basically my interaction was limited to when I made my order and when I got my meal. It was a busy evening though, so I guess it was understandable that they might not have had time to check on how we were doing. I would rate this spot about 2.5 stars as I had a so-so experience here, but rounding down since the food portions were minimal and service was inattentive.

I went last night and ordered buligogi beef in broth dish. Very unclean restaurant. Tons tons of fruit flies on the table throughout the meal. The marinated beef in soup must have been very dated while eating for my both hand turned red and itchy which I thought was the fruit flies. It turns out it was the unclean food I found out an hour later walking in Richmond Center with an upset stomach from dinner. I was hardly able to walk to the washroom; nearly fainted.

Been here many times but this is one of the not so popular Korean restaurant in Richmond. Probably because too much competitive. This place is large but not a lot of people dining there. Food is not bad. The seafood pancake is good and so is the beef bulgogi. The server here seems a bit speechless or no expression on their face. Décor has been the same 10 years ago.

Horrible food. Completely ruined the gamjatang. Potatoes were hard and the soup has no flavor. The kalbi had decent flavor but was extremely stringy and difficult to chew. Not to mention that its over priced. Never coming back.

Never walked out of a restaurant like this before. I went to the Woegajib today. and ordered short rib soup and cold noodle. The rice that came with it had unpleasant smell: most likely rice that was left in rice cooker overnight(server claimed that it wasn’t but seriously, I am pretty sure most Asian can tell if the rice is old or not as it’s our main source of carb) But I thought, meh I am probably just a little too picky. then came the soup. First bite into noodle, I can taste sourness and again funny smell. I walked out asking for bill. The waitress tried to charge me whole amount, but as I haven’t even seen the cold noodle, I refused to pay for the food I never received and just settled the bill for the foul smelling soup and left. There was 0, 0 customers in the restaurant, probably for a good reason. I went to nearby Chinese restaurant and I had to wait briefly for a seat as it was packed. I don’t think I will ever go back to this restaurant ever again and will do my best to inform everyone that I care for not to as well

Had to give it just 3 stars comparing it from Korean food in SF. The BBQ beef and mackerel was probably the best thing at the restaurant. The service was not bad and it was just ok overall.

3.5 There was a recent change in ownership(it used to Jang Mo Jib). Menu items are still the same taste wise, but it seems like they bumped the prices up a notch. ordered the following for the my recent visit: –short rib kalbi — expensive but very tasty –stone bowl bi bim bap — excellent texture and flavour –soft tofu soup pot — good kick –seafood pancake — crunchy and very yummy Service could use some improvement but all in all it was a decent meal.

Came here before when it was Jang Mo Jib and Mother House. Looks like they keep changing owners but not much else. Décor and place are the same. Not sure about the menus, but it’s what we expected — we were pleasantly surprised by their decent lunch specials, also offered on a Sunday. Tried the seafood pancake, soft tofu stew, bulgogi, and jap chae. Everything is pretty standard, nothing that stands out positively or poorly. They put squid in a lot of their seafood selections. Pancake was kind of soggy in the middle(but I find that most are, anyway). Service was ok. Glad that the girl recommended the lunch specials to me and she was very friendly. Couple mix-ups regarding the orders and bill, but nothing irreversible and they were nice about it. Hubby was a bit of a sourpuss this day and felt a little miffed because he thought there shouldn’t be any mix-ups at all given we were only one of maybe 4 tables in the entire restaurant, but again, nothing irreversible and they were nice about it. Overall, I liked the big parking, ideal for big families and very wheelchair friendly(spacious room/tables, big parking spaces and a nice ramp at the front door). Quiet setting — korean music in the background, but very faint(perfect!). We paid $ 40 for all of the above that satisfied 4 people on a Sunday lunch. Will come back should we have an urgent Korean food craving.

Waiter snapped at us before we settled the bill and demanded for 10%tips. While being snapped at by the this waiter, manager just stood there and laughed. Extremely Ridiculous.

Clean, simple décor. No frills, and no over-the-top decorative pieces that can overwhelm this place that is usually intended for tourists. Also not as dark as most Korean restaurants during the evening meal. It was nice to see our food under the bright lights(very important to me so I can speculate any unwanted pieces in my dishes). We had ordered several items for our table of six. The japchae was very good. It was not as salty as many other places, which I like. The noodles had a nice chew as well, not gummy as I have had before in other restaurants. The seafood omelette-like with potatoes dish was a little bland, but the accompanying salty-sweet sauce improved the plate a lot. Nice. We also had a soup made with pork bones and vegetables. The broth itself was clean tasting, but bland. It may be because the other dishes were full if savoury flavours in contrast to this soup. The pork bones must have simmered for hours, the meat had come off the bones very easily. The vegetables were also a bit bland, but still good. I do not know what kind of a dried vegetable was used, it had a nice chew to it. Because the soup was a little tasteless, I drank the soup in between tastings of each dish as a palate cleanser before trying a different flavour from another dish. We had also ordered some beef bulgolgi to try. The meat was a little too fatty, and the marinade was a bit too sweet for my own palate. But the cooking process itself was amazingly good. The food here is not exceptionally excellent, but is better than many other Korean restaurants in the Richmond area. Yes, I did give this place 4 stars, but that is because our servers kept our little plates of ban chan filled. The staff is very polite and always kept our tea pot and water glasses full. I would return here again, but not eat here often.

This location used to be called«Jang Mo Jib» but I’m guessing it got rebranded not too long ago. Essentially everything has stayed the same as before(menu, price, interior layout, parking availability) so if you liked this restaurant prior to the name change, chances are, you’ll like it now. We came late on a Wednesday night and there weren’t a lot of people, but interestingly, most of the tables had babies(just an observation). The two servers were nice and responded quickly to our requests(yes that’s a plus because I’ve had my fair share of poor customer service regardless of how packed a place was). We were late for our reservation and the second half of our party came even later, but neither time did the servers give us attitude nor seemed annoyed. The food was delicious(maybe starving helped the cause: P)! Everything tasted flavourful but not overpowering. The only disappointment was that you can’t grill your own meat like many Korean restaurants. I believe the cooking station in the middle of the tables are only for hot pots. I took one star off because the price is a little on the high end. It also seems like they priced their items to cater to larger groups(4 or more would be a good size).
