Service was fast and food was okay. Wasn’t blown away but it wasn’t bad. I’d come here in a crunch. Lots of seating.

Korean food in Richmond can sometimes be a hit or a miss, however Hanok was a pleasant surprise. Met a friend here on a weekday for lunch. Great prices for the lunch sets that come with miso soup and the banchan sides. I ordered the chicken Yaki-udon. Flavors were solid and pretty tasty with large pieces of chicken. Service was great despite all the bad reviews of service on Unilocal.Maybe because it wasn’t too busy during lunch? The server was really friendly and quite attentive for an Asian restaurant(y’all know what I mean by that in Richmond). Would recommend coming here for lunch. Pretty authentic Korean restaurant. Ps. They make their own tofu!

Service was minimal but servers were friendly. They didn’t speak too much English. The food was disappointing. The seafood tofu soup had almost no seafood — one very overcooked(hard) shrimp and a chewy piece of octopus. I am not sure how my friend’s dish was. There were only three accompaniment appy dishes(usually four) and very skimpy in quantity. The additional fish we ordered was also very tough from being overcooked. We will not be returning.

They have three locations: Richmond, North Vancouver, and Burnaby. Had dinner at Richmond location last night and it was pretty good. Loved their steamed dumplings, the sauce has perfect sweetness and sourness. And the steamed pork slices with special garlic sauce which has two sizes: Medium & Large. Medium is good for 2 – 3 people, so you can try more dishes. Many reviews mentioned their tofu, and they have a whole list under tofu menu, I guess tofu was really their specialties. Yes, tofu was great, but the spicy tofu soup overall wasn’t too impressive. It was somehow tasteless to me, not spicy at all even with extra kimchi(I guess their kimchi isn’t spicy). By the way, Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ has the BEST tofu soup!!! Location: 5⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Food: 3.5÷5 Traditional Stone Pot Bibimbap: 3⁄5 Drinks: 4⁄5 Price: 4⁄5

Brutal service! To the douchey young guy server who didn’t give AF about the quality of service and who clearly didn’t wanna be there… ugh. It was frustrating to witness. From picking at his nose as he took the other table’s order, to giving me the head wave when I asked him where the washrooms were, to checking his cellphone in plain sight, to the blatant coldness. Cmon man! The food is ok. We shared a couple of set menus including the pork belly with a choice of soup. I originally wanted the pork bone soup but had to opt for the tofu soup because they either ran out of pork bone soup or haven’t even made it yet for that day(note, this was around 5pm). The picture on the menu shows the pork belly comes with rice cakes, but in reality it didn’t, so I was a bit disappointed with that. The next set menu we had was the udon with a choice of side. We wanted the sushi but had to opt for the chicken teriyaki instead since the sushi option was crossed out and«not available» on the menu. The pro is that there are tons and tons of tables available, the con is that the booth we were seated at had some funky smells to it. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Sat down and placed my order. it took them 25 minutes to get the small side dishes(kimchi). We asked 3 times in a span of 50 minutes for our food. Server does not apologize for delays. First time walking out on a restaurant. Also server is very unhygienic, as he keeps brusheing his hair and not washing them afterwards. 0 star

Sat down at 7pm took an hour to get a waitress after asking 5 times to take our order. Service is terrible here. Their food is mediocre. I will not be back for the food. The service is bad enough to not bother coming. I rather walk down a block and go to Haroo if I’m in the vicinity. Do not recommend.

Food isn’t bad and price-wise, it was better when they had their lunch combos which included a free side dish which I now believe have been removed. Details on my blog post!

I went there on a Sunday noon and ordered their lunch special, Stir-fried beef with rice. It tasted fine, and they offered bottomless side dishes. However, I was not satisfied with their service. My friends and I were led to the back corner table and they never checked on us. One of my friends had to walk to the front desk in order to complete our orders.

Sometimes they lack servers during busy hours, but they work very hard and are very polite. The food is great and reasonable for their prices. Can request mild spiciness. They have lunch and dinner sets that are great to choose at a good price. Can request for wifi password. Food is served very quickly and usually all at once.

Amazing food, especially the tofu. We got the seafood soup, grilled mackeral, deep fried tofu, tofu kimchi soup, and the jajangmyeon. The banchan were pretty standard; seaweed, potatoes, pickled radishes, etc. I think that the highlight of the meal was definitely the tofu-the sweet and sour sauce was great– but the texture and flavour of the protein was what really made it. Since their tofu is all handmade, it has a very distinctive taste, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Portions are plentiful– I was stuffed just from the noodles. Prices are reasonable and service is good. But seriously, come for the tofu.

This place was the only quieter restaurant on Tuesday everything was super packed. Ordered waited for 15 minutes and got my food it was good. The sides they gave me were only kimchi and this yellow cabbage thing. I asked of they were more and was told only parties of two or more get the full banchan set I thought was ridiculous. I asked if I could swap the two out for dish like the yummy sweet potatoes they had and the glass noodle they said sure OK. Those two were good. Upon leaving the Korean lady reminded everyone that dine in required a tip I was not bothered by this but it seems Vancouver residents do not tip. Do not worry the Korean lady Herr will remind you out loud so embarrassing I heard tell a party of 8 you so cheap no tip… They immediately tipped 15%… Don’t forget to tip people if you dine in its a must.

I’ve been to Hanok for both lunch and dinner, and I honestly have to say that I prefer their lunch by a long shot.(Although I do find good value in their appetizer platter for dinner, which includes tempura, japchae, dukbokki and kimbap. The food is very consistent, but their lunch specials seriously blow me away. The majority of their items are under $ 10.00 and they have a side menu where you can order their signature items in a smaller portion for only $ 3.00 per dish!(They also have larger $ 5.00 items as well) Anyways, we were surprised at how much food we received even though we only ordered a $ 9 tofu soup and three $ 3 side items. They also provide the Korean side dishes such as potatoes and kimchi so in the end, we couldn’t finish everything! The quality is still excellent even though you’re ordering a $ 3.00 quarter-order, and we enjoyed the seafood pancake a lot. The hi-light of the meal was of course their handmade tofu spicy seafood soup, which is a must-order whenever we come to Hanok!

According to one of my Korean friends, this is the best Korean restaurant in Richmond. I trust her taste plus she’s Korean so she knows what is authentic and what is not. So I went ahead and gave it a try. I also took my family to Hanok too. It was delicious! And yes, my friend is right! It was absolutely tasty and the seafood/tofu kimchi soup is right on! I highly recommend ordering the combo that they offer for $ 30-$ 37 dollars where you can choose 3 items. I remember it being $ 29 before but the price has increased. I can’t complain though cause the price is still reasonable and affordable!!! Quality of food over anything and Hanok still got it. The staffs are super nice! I know it’s under staffs but this applies to almost all Asian restaurants! They try to help you ASAP and I don’t mind!

Ordered the bibimbap lunch special. Was pretty good, but nothing spectacular for taste. Good price though– under 10 $. Side dishes were generous in portion. Restaurant is nice– spacious yet still cozy for seating, and nice finishing work. Service was a bit lacking. They left a stack of menus on my table(sat me at a table for 4 and left all the menus), and had to nag to get water refilled etc. Id come back but not before trying some other places first. That said, it was still a good lunch and overall good experience.

Their lunch menu is fantastic! They have a ton of specials for under $ 9. The portion sizes are huge, and they all come with banchan and miso soup! The ambience is quite nice as well, more upscale than the usual Richmond fare, with wood panelling and an oriental vibe throughout. Feels more $$ than it actually is. The utensils are really heavy and they even had personalized utensil wrappers. The service was very friendly too!

We had the chicken special that includes super herbs. It was alright. I don’t recommend it and it was over priced. But if you take your folks or grandparents, they will appreciate it.

This was the Mongolie grill and now a new Korean restaurant. I have to say, I like the interior with the spacious tables and great for groups. Staff is friendly, fast, and efficient. There were a couple of menus and specials to choose from and I had a hard time deciding. They all looked good and the prices were decent. I chose the $ 8.99 special which was a main dish and a side dish. I was not disappointed with the Bibimbap or the Bulgogi as main dishes and as sides dishes, the friend tempura and this korean sushi thing. The portions weren’t large, but it was enough. I was also pleasantly surprised that they also brought soup and Korean potatoes, Kimchi, and seaweed in the beginning. Yummmmm !! Definitely coming back to try more things on the menu.

Hanok Korean was open in Jan 2013 and it had long banner for lunch special at $ 8.99. Of coz, we gave it try. When we walked in, the entrance was spacious and it looked nice and clean. It has a traditional setting with wooden furniture and walls. They have great lunch special menu and it’s hard to pick what we wanted to try. We had 3 lunch special but it came out 6 dishes and 3 appetizers. Jeon — Deep fried veggie + Bibimbap — Stone bowl rice with beef Deep fried veggie was greasy, but the stone bowl rice with beef was good Japchae — Korean potato noodles + Spicy Tofu Soup Korean potato noodles was tasty and spicy tofu soup was delicious. Stir-fried Korean rice cake + Yaki Seafood Udon Rice cake was too soft and blend. Hardly to find any seafood in Udon. Overall, food in good portion and lot of selections for lunch. I would say not bad to have $ 8.99 for lunch at Richmond.
