Roberto’s Italian Bakery

Felt very unwelcome when i came in, the staff made me feel uncomfortable and it was disappointing that they only made particular dishes on certain days

The buns are freshly baked in the morning. Hey are perfection. Every time I pass by this bakery, I pock up a bunch. The meat lasagna is pretty good. I personally found the service to be friendly and the place to be clean. I would agree with another reviewer that sometimes the prepared food does look fired out and crusted over. They really should keep it covered.

Not impressed at all. They have a bit of bread for sale. Some expresso machines… and a few pastries and some dry goods and that’s it. Really quite a barren small store.
I got there just after 2pm and the hot table was disgusting. All the pasta, meat, everything was VERY dried out and looking quite disgusting. I wouldn’t have eaten that if they paid me.
Their pastries /​baked goods were very few… but they did look decent.
The bread, especially the individual sized buns, looked pretty good.
There’s really not much else to the store.
They take cash or debit so I gave them a $ 20 to pay for a $ 5 bill. Technically it was $ 5.03 so the change was $ 14.97. It took the lady a while to figure out how to give me the change and she was about to give me $ 15 in change (3 fives) which was fine by me… and then decided instead to give me $ 14.95 in change which meant I got a giant handful of change that I have to take care of now.
It’s one thing not to accept credit cards, especially for small payments, but if you’re going to do that you should at least give the customer a couple cents off so they don’t have a pouch full of change to carry around.
I also asked what was the difference between the two cannolis and one lady said size only the other said one was made with ricotta and one with just cream. They disagreed with each other and I really didn’t know what was going on.
There’s another Italian bakery about a block away (Lago Italian Bakery) that is much better than this… and even Grannma’s which is right next to it has better everything and coffee plus a place to sit.
I really can’t recommend this place. Although they didn’t rip me off and I didn’t notice any obvious health violations so I’ve given them at least 2 stars.
The lady did tell me that they have orders they fulfill through the day so this place might be better suited to people who place an order and come pick it up fresh. Certainly do not go here for the hot table (which was why I stopped by).

My parents come from an old school Italian village. They are very particular with their bread. It needs to be crusty on the outside and COOKED (inside needs to have air holes and not able to roll up into ball) inside. They love the Calabrese loafs! I love the olive bread! Breads, pastries, old school pizza are all awesome!!!

Nothing better than finding that the bakery near your home has a couple of high powered espresso machines to turn out delicious caffeinated beverages whenever you need a fix.
Roberto’s is located in the Humberlands plaza on Bathurst in Oak Ridges (just north of King Road), and is convenient for more reasons than just the coffee. They also have a full serve deli meat counter and fresh bread and pastries they make in house daily. My father actually drives here at 6am some days to purchase hot fresh Italian buns for lunches a couple times a week and let me tell you… NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, beats the smell of hot fresh buns 1^st thing in the morning.
Roberto’s also offers a a full menu of hot table options as well, (ones that I plan on trying in the near future) including pastas, meats, potatoes, veggies and pizzas. They were already filling up the table when I arrived today, and they looked unreal!
Today however, when my home coffee maker was dry of all grinds to make my daily pot of gold, I quickly scooted down the street and was served a cappuccino with a double shot of espresso within mere minutes.
