Had a great time at the now called Steak & Sushi, with tasty food, good wine and a cozy booth. The only factor preventing me from giving a higher mark was the price point, especially for the sushi. Granted, this is not a sushi restaurant and I shouldn’t expect to be falling off my chair at each bite but 30 $ for the Chef’s combo for a few pieces of sashimi and a very average California roll is a bit excessive. Do not get me wrong, it is fine sushi… for a steakhouse. The steaks are good apparently. Loved the Phoenix roll, it was delicious. Above all, the wine selection was great and our waiter/sommelier was gracious and friendly. Overall, I recommend the place, especially on nights with special offers to soften the blow.

This is a quaint steakhouse that has the feeling of a lounge. The low lighting with red and green accents gave the restaurant an interesting feeling. Strangely, we were the only patrons of the restaurant. I ordered the steak and seafood. The steak was cooked perfectly but was pre-sliced for me when it arrived at the table. Uh, what? The salmon sushi was also delicious, and obviously freshly made. The drinks came quickly and the service was very personable throughout the evening. One turn off that we noticed was that the wait staff began vacuuming the restaurant while we were still at our tables. We took that as our queue that they wanted us to leave so they could close up; they could have simply told us instead of starting the vacuum.

My go to restaurant in the Byward market! The steak is amazing and they’re always updating their menu. Oddly enough when I go I usually get the sushi since it is to die for! I’ve almost always had excellent service, other than one time when the food took forever. But the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

Good, but not great. I was here for business, and had a full meal here of their Steak & Suishi combo, local dark beer, and cheesecake for dessert. So I dropped $ 60 here including tax and tip. The atmosphere was good, definitely a cool vibe was in the air. The waiter and waitress we had were fun personalities that added an aura of enjoyment to our meal. The suishi was ok. Not great. 90% of the suishi places in Toronto can mop the floor with their suishi chef. The spicy steak wasn’t. It was cooked to order though — I sliced it up and it melted in my mouth. Just when your menu says something is spicy — it has to live up to that word. Did the food taste good? Yes, it did. Did it meet the expecations set out in the menu? Not really. I think I’ll return to the Fish Market next time I return to Ottawa…

This is my first visit to Steak in Ottawa. The first thing I was impressed with is the service. Our waiter was very personable and took our drink order immediately. I had my first drink order within 5 minutes. He then came by shortly after and took our food order. I ordered some tuna Sashimi and a California roll. I have to say, for a steak house, this was the best tasting fish I’ve had in Ottawa. It was even better than a Japanese restaurant up the street. I asked the waiter where they get their fish and he proudly stated that they finally found a place based out of Montréal that delivers fresh fish to them twice a week. The hot sake I ordered with the meal was also very good. I will update this review once I taste the Gorgonzola filet.

Absolutely great food. We started with California and spicy salmon maki followed by two sirloins. Everything was fantastic. Wine was very good and for dessert we shared a bottle of chilled sake. Was a bit expensive but definitely worth the price. Great place for sushi and steak lovers.

Good food, trendy décor and great location but(unsurprisingly) on the pricey side. Not a bad place to start our a night in the market but I wouldn’t go far out of my way to come here when there are many other restaurants that match this place in quality.

Girlfriend took me here and the service was horrible. I loved the look, but the waitress did not like her job and it showed. The food was slightly better than what I would expect from a bar strip, but when you factor in cost… just not worth it.

Great steaks, cooked to perfection. Sushi starter was excellent, very tasty. Good service, and a different set of cocktails on the menu sets this place apart from some of the other offerings in the area. Well worth a try.

This place is okay and that is all. Sushi and sashimi was on par with many of the all you can eat sushi places in town and the steak was about the same as you would find at the Keg. For the price of the meal meal I expected a little more quality. The steak was not trimmed properly, too much fat and gristle was left on the meat. I ordered our steak rare and when I cut into it was the right texture(soft) but was more grey than pink internally. The flavour was okay but just didn’t have the refinement you would expect from a $ 37 piece of meat. Drinks were good and priced appropriately. The staff was friendly and polite but when things got busy service slowed down. The interior is very nice looking and there is enough space between tables so you don’t feel you are eating in a cafeteria like other places in the market.

Came in casually, not for big meal… Sushi was ok, although a bit too moist for me, cut into VERY small pieces. Service was fine, but waitress could have been more considerate, even we ordered two teas or a teapot for two of us to share, but when was brought two teapots(she noticed that we didn’t expect that), still got charged twice, which is not a big deal, but I think is a shortcoming. Wine list didn’t offer enough variety by glass, so left unordered… Overall: avarage place, not going second time.

What a terrible restaurant. The steak was tough, extremely chewy and half of it was fat. One of my friends ordered a steak medium well which came out more red than my medium rare steak. Another friend of mine ordered a medium rare steak which came out dry, when he sent it back the chef returned it to him and said it was fine. Fourthly(for those who are counting) another friend ordered one of the meals that are set by the chef(rather than one you assemble on your own) and they forgot the peppercorn sauce that it comes with. She waited about 10 minutes for the sauce and by the time she started most of us were half way through our meals. We left very dissatisfied, if you’re going to call yourself«steak» you should be able to grill a steak properly and get proper cuts of beef. This place doesn’t deserve to be in business.

This place probably has the best food on the Clarence strip of resto-bar-lounges. I had a chance to try Steak for a friends bachelor party so we were a pretty large group. Steak has a nice clean modern look with a smallish patio on the outside. The place is beautiful inside and out, including the serving staff :) I thought the prices were going to be extremely high but they were in line with chain steak houses. I ordered the NY strip with a side of veggies and it was good, not great but definitely good. I found my steak just slightly overcooked but with our large group I have to let it slide. I’d say it was slightly better than The Keg if I had to give it a comparison. The service we received would have been really good for a small group, so for the large group that we had, I’d like to say it was fantastic for any restaurant. The meal was pretty filling and there was no way I was putting away a dessert so we continued on with our shenanigans for the night.

Steak can best be described by the adjective, «snazzy». This spot brings steakhouses to a new level with it’s sharp and dramatic décor, complete with a bathroom you could easily host club events in. They are that snazzy. From the diner’s perspective, the restaurant seemed a little overstaffed that night which made for some excellent service. And despite all of the people, everyone worked well together. Our waitress was gorgeous and knew her stuff, a couple slip ups here(for example, bringing the wrong wine bottle) and there but her sunny attitude made everything easily forgivable. We started with calamari which was nicely breaded and had a spicy kick. I suggest it for one though; the portion was quite small. The sauce was like something I’ve tasted before out of jar but everything went well together. Accompanied by some Oyster Bay, Pinot Noir I got the classic sirloin with bearnaise sauce. The steak was SO good, juicy and tender– cooked to a perfect medium rare. I also really enjoyed the twice baked potato that had very creamy insides topped with sour cream and chives accompanied with the crispier potato skin. As for the rest of the sides, a bit disappointing. It was clear that the plates had been sitting for too long before getting to the table. The market vegetables were stone cold and not even that pleasant in flavour. Today, they were green beans and purple cabbage infused with something cinammony sweet. Even my bearnaise sauce tasted off and looked unappetizing. All in all some hits, some misses but a great dining experience before a night on the town!

— The Steak is good — Nice Atmosphere — We had good service from our waiter — Prices are normal for a steakhouse ****** I’m not a huge fan of baked potatoes, but you have to go with the twice-baked potato! It won’t disappoint! ******* We were also too full to get a dessert, but our waiter brought us some of the chocolate that’s made in house with our bill. Was a good end to the meal. Also, I think they have a deal on either Tuesdays or Thursdays(can’t remember which day) for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for $ 50. sounds pretty good.

I ordered a steak at Steak. Go figure. My steak was good but not great. Decent service, but very dim atmosphere(at some times I was wondering what I was cutting in to!). To me it’s a bar that serves good steak. Not a steakhouse that serves drinks. Go there with friends for cocktails but I’ve tasted better steaks out there.

When you go to a steakhouse you expect one thing: excellent steak. Steak delivered that. The prices are what you’d expect. The service was excellent. I was apart of a large group and the server made sure to check in on us appropriately. My steak was cooked perfectly and the side of mashed potatoes were delicious. There was a decent selection of wine to go with your meal. I’m recommending this over the big name chain steakhouses.

I loved this place! We were coming from the comedy club on a Monday night and wanted to stop somewhere for dessert. There’s a row of pubs, bars and restaurants down this one stretch but everything seemed to be closed at 11pm except for this place so we wandered in around 5 after 11. The staff was SO nice and the atmosphere was even better. There’s a huge walk-in wine cooler in the middle of the room, a nice-sized patio and beautiful huge doors that open all the way up so the people on the patio can walk right in to the bar/restaurant. The waiter told me what his preferred drinks were since I seemed slightly indecisive and when it came to dessert he talked me out of carrot cake and into getting the cheesecake which was awesome. The décor and atmosphere was nice but there were also tvs around so I could watch the New Orleans game. It couldn’t get any more perfect! Whether you’re going for dinner, dessert, or just drinks I’d suggest this place to anyone.
