Overall I find they have a pretty good service and pretty good quality however I notice that with any Second Cup. I find that Second Cup in general, excels at making specific items on the menu(like their cinnamon swirl latte) which Starbucks doesn’t excel at; vice-versa; there are also items you can buy at Starbucks that aren’t as good when you buy them at Second Cup. I notice that this particular location at St. Laurent mall seems to change staff quite frequently which really appears to be the only concern I’ve found but other than that I’m really satisfied that they can pull all this off from a tiny kiosk in the middle of a hallway. The staff who work here are usually pretty easy going and won’t fret if you’re 10 cents short on your change. Id say that this is one of the three places at St. Laurent which I usually buy coffee from when I’m there.

I am apprehensive to give this place a higher rating after reading Samantha’s review. It seems it completely depends on the staff that is working when you go there. I have been there at least 5 times if not more because I LOVE second cup and I find it hard to pass up a chance to grab a coffee when I walk by. Overall I have had decent or normal experiences with the service there. One time I went, the girl at the cash was not at all helpful to me when I was asking about the menu items, and that ticked me off. On top of it, she wouldn’t smile no matter how much I was smiling and… if you know me, you’ll know I hate that. I can understand that sometimes you have a bad day, but when I am standing there practically beaming and at the end I tell you to have a good day(customer service habit) I think you would live if you just gave back at least a HINT of a smile. Another time my husband and I went, we were short 10 cents with cash, and my husband hates paying on cc for a small amount. The girl working at the time(different than last time) was really nice about it, and SMILED and said it was okay. I would also like to note, she is still alive because I have seen her again since then. Because it is in the middle of the mall, they don’t have an extensive selection of desserts/food but they have a decent amount so if you’re hungry you can grab something there. I like that there is ample seating right beside it, so you don’t have to go far to enjoy your food and beverage, and the seating area is always clean. It is in a quieter area of the mall too, which is a plus. There are two cream/sugar stations to avoid crowding, and those are also kept clean. Overall, I would still get my coffee there because I can’t resist second cup coffee… I am willing to put up with shoddy customer service for it from time to time.

I had the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at any business here a while ago that I haven’t forgotten about, and I’m not sure why I’m just reviewing it now. I ordered a mocha one morning, but I forgot to mention I wanted it iced until after he rang the transaction through. So I asked him if I could get it iced, and he replied to me «I can give you a cup with ice in it but it will cost you $ 2.» I thought this was ridiculous, for a cup with ice in it, so my response was«shit, seriously?» The guy said«ma’am I find swearing highly offensive and I’m going to ask that you not swear again or I’ll have to ask you to leave», after he said that him and his co-worker burst into laughter. At this point I was getting mad. I told him I thought it was a ridiculous price for a cup with frozen water in it. Him and his fellow employee also thought this was funny and I said something along the lines of «aren’t you guys taught in training to treat the customer like they’re always right?» and they laughed at that too. I honestly don’t know why that was so funny, but it really angered me. At this point I wanted to report them to their manager, I asked their name and he said«Jason Borne» and then the other guy said«James Bond.» I was so angry at this point I just wanted to get the cup with ice in it and leave, I handed them a toonie. The dude put it in the tip jar. They started laughing again. I almost threw my coffee at him. Not really, but I was mad. I NEVER forgot this. The absolute WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. I wish I got their names, but if the manager reads this by any chance, one guy had red hair and the guy serving me was tall, black, and had a shaved head.
