The food and bagels are good though I’d not said anything exceptional. As many have expressed the owner is extremely rude and tries to charge you more as he can. I have him a 5USD instead of CAD and he didn’t give it back to me and said ‘money is money my friend«while USD is 1.4CAD! I’d not return just because if his service and rudeness.

Best bagel place! Smoked salmon bagel sandwich was amazing. This guy has been in business for 20 years, obviously doing something right. I used to visit when I was in university long time ago. Still amazing

I came based on Unilocal reviews and was so glad I did! This was my first experience eating Montréal style bagels and it was a really positive one. I tried their smoked salmon and cream cheese creation with a herb and cheddar bagel. I opted to include capers and red onions(because one of the reviews recommended this). In one word: delicious — and I don’t even like capers. The outside of the bagel was crunchy and inside was soft. I’m not sure if it was because the guy warmed up my bagel in a wood oven or if this is the texture of a Montréal style bagel, but I am won over for life. My husband tried their strawberry bagel and would definitely buy it again. The place closes at 6pm everyday. You can buy one uncut bagel for $ 1 and 6 for $ 5.75. This will be an easy breakfast or lunch option for me the next time I’m in town.

I got a BLT on an everything bagel and my boyfriend had the smoked salmon on an everything bagel. We switch halves to try both, and they are fantastic! Smoked salmon is by far the best. Comes with capers and onions(don’t skip these, they make it!). BLT was a tiny bit bland, I would suggest adding honey mustard along with the mayo that comes on it. Man working was incredibly friendly and efficient. Prices are decent as well. We sat in the café area — nothing special, but it’s cute. Will definitely be back again and again(but probably for my own smoked salmon ;))

Bagels are quite nice, some of the best I’ve tasted. I went for a quick breakfast fix and the sandwich did not disappoint. The coffee however needs some major work(it’s basically self-serve jugs), barely drinkable. Too bad, it would have made a good place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with a bagel.

I may not be 100% sure if this is the best place that sells bagels but I am pretty confident that they made some of the nicest ring dough in Ottawa. I chance upon the reasonably sized bagel joint when I walked into a crowded French pastry shop that leads me to the marche. Located just 2 stalls away from the entrance, I saw this intriguing bagel shops that named«Continental Bagel Company». I am such a sucker for anything carbs and I swish forward to pry what’s in store. Those guys were joyous and friendly. While I am only eyeing for bagels, nothing interests me more than the ring bread. In case u wonder, they serve breakfast with smokes salmon fillings, omelette in between your bagel. There are quite a good selection of bagel sandwich, like Subway, u can choose toppings/shredded lettuce and drizzle it with sauces of your liking. I love the way the shop smells when rolls of bagel is lined liked they sat on a conveyor, ready to be loaded to wood fire brick oven. Very traditional which I enjoyed whole heartily than the ones I had from a mass production. The fire lend a charred scent on my 7 grains bagel. They may not be most beautiful to look at; dark and less plumply disposition(color resembles any raisin cinnamon cousins). The bagel tasted good, some parts are crisp while the middle was chewy. It has a nice and noticeable flamed aroma in my mouth. I ate all my bagels plain and uncut to get the most unadulterated taste. The sesame bagel was a notch better for its magnificent fragrance. The dough is marvelously chewy and it has a faint sweetness as u bite into the soft texture. It’s hot from the«fire place» when they throw it in my bag, delightfully crispy on the exterior. The range for the sweet version is much greater than the savory options. There are 3 savory selection: some cheese, feta & herb and onion. I opted for 2 sweet ring dough uncut for $ 1 each, minimally priced for a home made bread surely. I heard they baked strawberry bagel the other day but I am so not lucky that I didn’t get my hands on it despite revisiting the stall in my 2 other occasions. Disappointed. If u are keen in other bakeries items, check the shelve display; they have pretzels both cinnamon and chocolate variants and puffs, Danish liked rolls. They have a dining area where u could sit down and chow down your orders. They did make good chewy bagels which I will go back for more without hesitation if I ever revisit the capital. And oh I didn’t know writing a review while riding on a rail can be so much fun and full of thoughts. I have never completed any on a train and VIA Rail has got a strong wifi network though sometimes it lagged a little. But see, this is fine! I posted it on the train!!!

We didn’t know what to have for breakfast one morning so we stopped by the little market nearby the hotel. They had Continental Bagel Company in there so we decided to eat there for breakfast and there were seats there. The bagels seemed freshly made on the spot. They seem to boil their bagels in water and lay them out to dry. They come in different flavors I suppose, but I stick to the usual plain bagel. I asked for ham and egg and he asked if I wanted a tomato and I said yes. Then, I saw him take prepackage egg and heated it up on the microwave oven and then added ham and tomato on top of the bagel sandwich. I was turned off by the prepackaged egg. Gross. And it wasn’t even a cheap breakfast sandwich! For the bagel itself, it was good because it was fresh and soft and healthy. Other than that, it was ehhh.

So close… I agree with Vera’s this place is one of the better places in Ottawa for bagels and is definitely better than Kettleman’s. The bagels are also $ 1each if you get them uncut and you can get multiple at a discount! It’s $ 4.50 for 6 bagels. Most of the bagels are nice. The spicy one kind of sucks. If you want a MTL style bagel this place is as close as you’re going to get without making a trip out to Fairmont West or St-Viateur West. It’s not quite as good… I have tried some of their other items and they’re ok. My only gripe with this place is that I wish they would separate the day old bagels vs fresh ones!

I cant get enough of Montréal Bagels. Way better than NYC bagels(sorry nyc but you still have my heart) There’s something about Montréal bagels. If you are a fan of H&H bagels(These bagels are smaller, sweeter, and denser and oh so delicious!) I tend to like this place over Kettleman’s, although Kettleman’s is open 24 hours. This place is typically out of «everything bagels» by 6pm but they seem to always have sesame and plain bagels in stock. Super nice to not have to go Fairmount in Montréal and get them in Byward market. Although, a trip to Montréal is always super duper fun. Get some lox on your bagel and you’ll be in heaven in 3…2…1
