I came to Coreana with my fiancé this afternoon. We were worried about the negative reviews, I don’t know why people complain about the restaurant. The food is really good and people are very kind. It’s just because of the culture difference. It doesn’t mean they are rude.

We were seated after a minute of waiting. Service was horrible. After waiting 5 minutes, went to desk to get a menu myself. After 10 more minutes, we left, due to no service.

The worst service I have ever received. DONOTEATHERE. Not only are the owners rude but they can’t communicate. The food comes in small portions and is very expensive for painfully mediocre tasting food. The waitress spilled soup all over my mother and didn’t even offer to replace the soup, when we requested another, the waiter was rude about it. After ordering tofu, they forgot the tofu then gave us 3 small pieces that weren’t even cooked. The family who owned the restaurant ate their own food the entire time we were dining and we couldn’t order more or even get our check until we walked to the door.

I’m so sorry that my phone died and I couldn’t check Unilocal reviews for this restaurant before entering. This was a good location and looked appetizing in the front but I was wrong. It took them 5 min to notice us, 10 min to bring drinks, 40 more min to bring one dish up, 10 min to bring another dish we ordered, and 5 min to bring the last one. I probably wouldn’t have complained that much if their food was edible. But they were absolutely horrific. Bim bim bap, we spotted a thin layer of beef that was barely visible. Rice was hard. Unflaverful over all. Dulbulki, overly sweet, most edible of all things we ordered though. Soon tofu, in other places I’ve tasted flavor but this one was plainly just spicy… Spicy soft tofu with few seafood pieces. And I’m not the only unhappy camper here. There was a couple who left before food even gotten to them, we figured it’s because how slow their service was. There was only one waited for the whole entire place. The hostess/owner looks like she just woke up and even chewing something while seating customers. I hope people stay away from here.

I don’t know what other Unilocalers are complaining about. Went there on Canada’s Day for lunch and ordered Yuk gae jang, Fried Rice, Hwae dup bab(Sashimi rice) and Ja jang myun and it tasted great!(Except Hwae dup bab) Better than most non authentic Korean restaurants near Niagra Falls. Although people who work there were elders who looked little out of hand, food tasted great!

Do not ever go here ! Went into this restaurant and was not greeted by anyone, but one standing man who«stared us» for five seconds. we just went ourselves to sit. Ordered the food, and rice not came with the bowl soup. we asked for the rice, and the man who brought the rice almost threw the rice in front of my wife, because it was hot(why not carry it on the table or something). No service afterwards. When we asked for the check, we got the check, but he didn’t bring the card back to the counter. so we went to the counter. then he asked us to swipe the card and press the numbers.(we have never ever gone to a restaurant where the owner asked us to enter, swipe, put the tip onto the machine ourselves !) . We didn’t understand the machine directions, so we pressed ok. then he said why no tip?(hello, why do we have to understand the machine directions and enter the tip amount as well as putting the meal price on the machine ?) Do not ever ever go here

DONOTEVERGOHERE!!! It is the dirtiest restaurant I have ever been. There were a lot of flies above my head and the smell of naphthalene was very strong. Food was okay but after my brother tasted kimchi, I had to change my thought because he said that the kimchi was warm. If they did not store kimchi in the refrigerator, where did they store it? On the counter? Oh great. That means I and the flies had same food. lol!!! + the cashier did not know how to open the register. Had to wait like five minutes more. I am Korean. I do not expect real good Korean food outside of Korea. BUT!!! Hygiene is totally different story. I have no idea why this owner does not pay attention to clean his/her restaurant. .

Went as a group. Ordered a few dishes to share. Pork bone soup & soon tofu was bland. No taste, no heat. Service was rude & horrible! Where do I begin? There were so many incidents. Back room was empty but they didn’t want to move the tables together. They wanted us to sit at 3 separate tables. We had to move the tables ourselves. My sushi dish was suppose to come with appetizer & miso. I had to remind them 15 mins after I got my sushi & after I finished it to give it to me. Turned out to be salad & cheap miso broth. I wouldn’t even call it soup. Owner took my friend’s order wrong & tried 3 times to force her to take it. We all clearly heard her order by number & name. Nice try! He reluctantly gave her what she really ordered. We ordered 4 green tea. We got a dimsum teapot with 1 skimpy teabag &7 small Chinese teacups. It was basically hot water with no tea aromatic. OK, whatever, maybe he got our tea order mixed up too. Nope! BIGSCAM!!! Owner charged us $ 14 for tea! $ 2 per cup even though no one drank the«hot water»! He’s insane! If I order 4 tea, give me my own bloody teabag so my water will actually have some colour & flavour! Owner is rude & snarky. He tells us «this is Niagara Falls. I can charge whatever I want here. This is not Toronto». Crazy!

I stumbled upon this place on a recent bungled trip that left me stranded in Niagara Falls with several hours to kill. At first I found myself in the old casino, Casino Niagara, which I hadn’t been to in YEARS so nothing looked the way it used to, in fact, I am pretty sure it was a fraction of the size it used to be! I couldn’t find my way around and was on the verge starving. Turned off by the idea of casino buffet so early in the day, I ventured outside, knowing the choices were pretty dismal. I wandered up that street whose name I can’t recall anymore, the hilly one with all the tackiness galore. I remembered seeing a small stretch of street behind Casino Niagara with a small few restaurants that weren’t the typical US chains when I was in Niagara last year, so I made my way to the top of the hill and there was Coreana. I had been craving Korean food for days before, and I figured I can’t expect too much, but went for it as it was probably my best bet. It looked big inside, but upon entry, you wouldn’t even know what a massive joint this place is, but as others have mentioned, there’s a whole sprawl in the back. What you should know about restaurants like this, located in a place like Niagara Falls where there aren’t that many Koreans, is that they cater to the(mostly) Korean tour bus groups that roll into town. Don’t ask me why, but those tour operators tend to cart Korean tourists to Korean restaurants in these foreign lands. Nevermind that they’re in a totally different country and should be introduced to various cuisines, even if only a couple of different ones, but in the case of Niagara, I’ll let it go since there aren’t too many great places to eat there – in fact, Coreana may be one of the few that are decent! On the other hand, people like my parents and other relatives born in Korea tell me that they miss their rice and kimchee if they go without it for even as much as a day. I walked in alone and dined alone. I had the entire place in which to select a seat but the owner? sat me in the front, behind a screen but on display in the window, unbeknownst to anyone in the restaurant who might walk by. I felt like a sniper, but thankfully my waitress was aware of my presence as I was the only one in that area so I had her all to myself and she was pretty attentive. She was young and spoke English. I was there well after the lunch rush(if there was one that day, I have no idea) so it was pretty quiet. I ordered the dolsot(hot stone bowl) bibimbap($ 12.95), which I don’t normally order as I don’t like it when my food stays scalding hot throughout the entire meal, but I didn’t see the regular bibimbap on the menu(I’m sure if I’d asked, they’d make it happen since it’s just a matter of serving it up in a regular bowl), and as I said, I had a few hours to kill so it was fine. The banchans(side dishes) served were kimchee, sugared-beans, bean sprouts, and one other(can’t remember now). They were all pretty good so I figured my bibimbap can’t be too bad(it’s not that easy to screw up), and it wasn’t, except that the namul(seasoned vegetables) were all cheap stuff. I know that $ 13 isn’t absolutely insane and given that it’s Niagara Falls, is about right, but the dish contained lots of lettuce, lots of julienned carrots, those bean sprouts used in egg rolls, and a bit of zucchini, along with the standard fried egg and a few pieces of bulgogi for meat. The few pieces of zucchini ended up turning to mush as the bowl was so hot and the carrots were so thinly slivered that there was hardly any texture to be found, but all in all, the food tasted good. I expected there’d be a lunch menu but their only lunch specials were salmon teriyaki and a soupy-stew – one I can’t recall, largely because I wasn’t interested. Price-wise, everything cost more than what you’d pay in Toronto Korean restaurants, but then again, the right ingredients probably aren’t so readily available anywhere near Niagara Falls, PLUS, it’s Niagara Falls. I remember going to a Denny’s out there at 4am and a typical breakfast that would normally be about $ 5(this was a while back) at their other locations was $ 23US! I’ve been to some of the Korean supermarkets in these smaller cities and towns in southern Ontario and believe me, they’re probably not much better than one you’d find in North Korea. Having said that, Coreana is pretty good if you find yourself stranded in Niagara Falls, craving Korean food!

Fascinating place. The side dishes served with my meal were excellent. Service was good, but I thought the drink containers were laughably small given the spicy food patrons are consuming. Either serve some water in a Carafe or increase the size of drink containers please. Overall good with room for improvement. Food was good but not outstanding.

Came here with my husband after a morning of strolling along Niagara Falls. My husband ordered the bibimbap. It was ok. Not a lot of flavor. I added lots of the sauce to give it more taste. A little skimpy on the meat too. There was a limited selection of sides. I guess we’re used to the Korean restaurants in California where you get a huge variety of sides and they keep refilling them throughout the meal. I got the sashimi plate. I could have sworn the menu said you get a variety of 8 different fish, but what we got was several slices of 4 kinds of fish. Maybe I read it wrong. The fish was very fresh and good, however the pieces were smaller than what we would get at home. Having never eaten sushi in Canada I really can’t make a fair comparison on whether or not the quantity is comparable to other places, but the quality was decent.

Kalbi ribs were decent, which salvages the 2 star… But everything else was pretty poor. My parents got the salmon teriyaki and it was super overcooked — I think they prepare everything in advance. And finally, I kid you not, they played Gangnam Style on repeat for the entire meal. SERIOUSLY?!

We were looking for a Korean restaurant last week and found this place in Niagara Falls, CA. They have a huge place but hardly any customer. Could it be that it was a Monday night? Three of us ordered the bibimpap and was a bit disappointed that it has a few pieces of beef only. I ordered a beef soup and it was bland. The waiter screwed up the beer. I ordered a light bud and instead gave a regular bud to my friend and he gave me instead my friend’s blue. Overall taste and service we experience was not good. The food was a far cry from the other Korean restaurant I have gone before. I could not recommend this to my friends.

It was a bit disconcerting to see this huge restaurant completely empty on a busy night for most other restaurants on the strip, but we decided to give it a try. Normally, I have apprehensions eating at Asian restaurants that try to fuse two cuisines together, whether it’s Vietnamese-Thai or in this case, Korean-Japanese. They always manage to screw up one cuisine or another, or even both. Generally when you have a broad menu in trying to appease everyone, you end up pleasing no one. But, I figured we are pretty deprived of Korean in Vermont and it’s a lot lighter than Italian or Indian so here we were. The first thing I noticed was just how vast the restaurant space was. There’s a hallway past the bathrooms that leads to another large banquet room. It was sad to see that so much space was underused. The other thing was how aloof the waiters were. The restaurant was completely empty, yet we end up just standing around for a good few minutes and then we were seated relatively spaced out from any other customer. The menu itself had some fairly priced staple Korean dishes, all around $ 10 – 15. I still fathom why they didn’t offer a kimchi fried rice dish when they had both components. Instead, it was just regular fried rice. Another example of catering to tourists. I ended up ordering the bimbimbap. The dish actually came with very well cooked and half crunchy rice with a perfectly cooked fried egg on top. But, there was barely any beef and no accompanying sauce. The banchan offered wasn’t a particularly large selection, but I liked the greens and the kimchi was good. Overall, not too shabby of a meal despite also getting a flat soda.
