This used to be my go to place for breakfast when hungover but since it has come under new management it has been going downhill fast. Although the staff are friendly the service is terrible. We waited 10 minutes for water and coffee after ordering(we were the only people there), when our breakfast arrived(20 minutes later) there were multiple hairs in each of our dishes, the ham looked like it was a fried peice of lunch meat, the bacon tasted like it was cooked in a dirty pan, the toast was barely toasted and the hashbrowns were undercooked. May I also note that the price has gone up but the portions have shrunk. It sucks because this place used to be so good but unfortunately I will not be going back.

First time ordering… food was allright, not the best… i was ordering an hour before closing so that may have been a factor. Ordered dinner for 3, subbed sweet and sour chicken balls for the almond chicken. The chicken balls had a bad aftertaste, like being fried in old oil is best i can describe them… the spring rolls were hard and chewy, But tasted allright despite the texture. Bbq cho mein and sweet and sour pork were good… beef chop suey was below average. beef was good but instead of usual brocolli and vegetables there was lots of filler, big chunks of cabbage, peppers, onion, celery… not a lot of broccoli, baby bok, etc… half of it was inedible. Would substitute something else next time. They deliver to queensborough which is good but they charge 3 dollars extra… delivery took over an hour. Portions were a bit less then other places, but price was lower too. so hard to quantify the value. I might order from them again, but probably not.

Solid 3.5. This is surprising, no 2014 reviews, considering in this neck of the woods, where else can you get Western food, Chinese, and bubble tea under one roof? Ok I may be pushing it, just breakfast is what they serve. Granted, it’s not date material but sufficient enough. Have ordered takeout for their General Tso’s chicken, it’s good enough if you are in a pinch. Friendly service, though English is a bit limited. They do have soon good in-dining specials. Credit cards ok.

I order Chinese delivery from here. The food is good. This seems to be the style of Unilocal reviews these days, so I’m going with it. Good lemon chicken, non-greasy chow mein, fortune cookies that don’t actually contain fortunes but advice and random lotto numbers. If you don’t live in New West or South Burnaby, you’ll probably never go here anyway.

Bacon perfect, not too greasy, yet crispy. Delicious. Expected greasy spoon quality but was better than bon’s. Nice bright light too — airy quality with tall ceilings.

The last review of Happy Mom was 6 mths ago and there are no pics :( We’re always on the look out for good, cheap breakfast places so we thought we’d check out Moms before going down to the quay. First off, the address is Twelfth Street(like it is on the street sign and on GPS), not 12th. It’s a painted up greasy spoon with good $ 3.99 breakfast. Decent quality home hash(real potatoes cut into cubes using one of those hand press type devices), 2 small eggs, good sausages(better than IHOP& Denny’s), and not too thin toast with a good spreading of marg! Waitress said she was new. Was polite friendly and came by to refill our coffees from a coffee stained carafe — it’s goes with this type of place. Chinese food & western breakfast at this cleaned up café. Faux crystal chandeliers, + a disco & strobe lights by the front window :). I totally forgot to ask about the disco light and strbe. :( Would I go back? Yes! 1 star deduction as the hash was pre-seasoned with pepper and something else. I’ll ask not to have the pepper on my next visit.

This is our 5th time ordering from happy moms café. Food is great, never too greasy and is loaded with veggies! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options or willing to omit items to make them be. We have never been inside the restaurant(as we always order in) but one thing to note is that delivery time is VERY slow. We’ve waited an hour and a half before, and seeing how we are like 2 mins away I find this sad. That being the only reason I’ve given them 3 stars instead of the 5. But with it being the only vegan friendly Chinese place that delivers, I have to deal.

More than just a café. It is a good weekend breakfast place, but it also has Chinese food for both dine in and take out. It is good food and good prices. I recently ate there and tried a number of their spicy numbers. I like hot spicy Chinese and recommend the Szechuan Spicy Prawns, Szechuan Spicy Beef Chop Suey, and Szechuan Spicy Chicken with Veggies. They do takeout too.

A great breakfast place. Good basic breakfast with great light and an interesting local clientele. A good way to start an amble down 12th — an unfortunately overlooked shopping street with great stores.
