We were on our way through Nelson and decided to stop here for lunch. Little did we know that we were in for such a treat. The food was amazing! We had a veggie appetizer sampler which came with tamarind and mint chutneys. Everything was so good. We also got full really fast. For our main meal, we split the vegetable korma with saffron rice and garlic naan. Being from the states, we expected the korma sauce to be heavy on the cream(and calories). But not here. He makes it with cashews and almond milk(I think that’s what he said). It was much lighter than we were used to, but just as tasty. In fact, I don’t even want to have cream-based korma sauce after having this. The owner/chef(not sure if he was both or not) was very nice and obviously took a lot of pride in his food. He also told us a lot about the history of Nelson, which was fun to hear since we were tourists. I basically can’t wait to get back to Nelson, just so I can eat here again.

The Best! Delicate, aromatic, wholesome and delicious. The owner is gracious and visible as he interacts with customers and his team. I’d come back to Nelson just for this restaurant.

The best Indian food I have tasted ! Nice clean place and the service is great. We go there a couple times a month. Also do a take out in between.

If I hadn’t spent all of my time on the patio the last time I was here, I would have noticed that there is a lot more to this place than just a nice patio. What can a girl say??? Sun, good food and a nice cold brew… Who could go wrong??? Especially since they serve beer from the local brewery(Nelson Brewing Company), YUM! Of course they also have wine and hard liquor. One thing I hadn’t noticed… I can’t believe they have a pool table in the back… That would have been fun the first time around. They also have«Off Sales» where you can purchase beer to take back to your hotel room or camp site with you. Don’t try to purchase after 11pm though… It’s the law, I guess they have to abide to it. hmmm, giggle. Think they might have changed around the menu… Or I wasn’t paying attention before(wouldn’t doubt that of me). They still have the normal pub food(burgers, appetizers, etc), but now they have these great pizzas(2 for 1 on Monday nights, well while I was in town). What looked like to be a GREAT pasta dish(better get out that napkin as demonstrated by another patron who had it all over his shirt by the end of eating, well maybe it was because of how much alcohol he had consumed???). Salads and some other great dishes that wouldn’t be considered normal pub fare. It looked like there was something there to satisfy almost anyone, probably even some vegetarians. OFCOURSE, the service was just as great, if not better. I noticed that another couple from Seattle was looking for water to go and one of the people working there was making sure they had enough to take with them. I was given ice to put into my dog’s water bowl, so she would have less chance of overheating. Highest recommendations for this place, not only for the food, but also for great service & atmosphere.
