I go to the market for some staple items and for Portuguese specialty items. The mild chorizo(meat area) is really good here and you can BBQ them and then chop it up and serve as an appetizer or with a side. Good in soup also. I get fresh veal or pork/beef cutlets from here also and they will run it through a tenderizer to make the meat softer. They also sell vacuum sealed tiny sausages in meat, chicken and spicy that on the BBQ make a great app. Not a fan of the restaurant for lunch/dinner. Menu changes everyday and very limited. I don’t mind«home cooking» restaurants, but this one is mediocre. For a pastry or expresso bar, then it is not bad.

I kept passing this place and did not know what ethnicity it was so stopped in yesterday to check it out. It is a Portuguese market with a lot of meat and frozen fish. They seem to have a big variety of olive oil, sausages(chorico, etc.) and tables full of bacalao. As there was no Portuguese community in my former hometown, I’m not very familiar with this cuisine. I would say, however, that I did not find a lot of items that were very interesting looking — I enjoy Middle Eastern, Indian, Chinese and Eastern European groceries more. They have a lot of decorated terra cotta pots. I guess this must be a Portuguese or Azorean specialty. The checker was friendly but ditzy. She kept getting distracted by a ringing phone and did not know how to make change. It took me about ten minutes to buy three items with cash and with no one in front of me. I might be more interested in their offerings had I a better knowledge of Portuguese cuisine and culture. I looked them up in and evidently they also have two stores in Toronto.
