May Garden

Me and my boyfriend always go here for Chinese food and it’s absolutely superb! We usually get our orders taken within 5 minutes and delivered to us between 5 – 10 minutes of sitting down. It’s like sit down take out because it’s usually that fast, and it’s always fresh and we’ve never had problems with the food.

We just moved to the HRM and we were completely spoiled by the Chinese food I our last place. That’s the only reason why I gave it 4 stars. This was still the best chinese food we’ve had so far. It was recommended by a friend. When I saw the average of 3 stars on Unilocal I wondered what I would get. I’ve had better Chinese but not in Halifax. Good food, fast. It was take out so I have no idea about the service. It was way better than Long Dragon and that had 4.5 stars so it makes me wonder… Worth a shot. Try it.

One of the best places for Chinese food in Sackville! Love the meat egg rolls always stuffed to the max and the beef fried rice hasn’t been dry yet! Haven’t tried anything here I haven’t liked yet. The chicken balls have just enough batter and a lot of sauce. This is one of our regular takeout places.

Terrible food and over priced. They didn’t have vegetable spring rolls so we ordered meat, tasted like dog food inside. The portions were overall small and nothing to write home about. Ribs were super small with little meat, the container was filled with mostly sauce. The rice was good but not big enough. We ordered from here because long dragon was on vacation… This will never happen again!

Sad to say, but I’m extremely disappointed… I used to love this May Garden until recently. I recently ordered a takeout order, and after driving 45 minutes home, was extremely grossed because in my food I discovered 2 long blonde hairs… (no one in my family, nor I, have blonde hair). I decided to give May Garden a call not to be rude or anything, but just to let them know so this could be prevented in the future. Not only did the lady who answered my call seem unconcerned, but offered no apology besides asking if I wanted to return my food. I declined considering the fact that I had just driven 45 minutes to get my food; I was tired after a long day and did not want to make the drive back. The employee then assured me that someone would call me the next day about my experience. To my dismay, no phone call. Nothing. I wasn’t expecting much, and wasn’t even THAT disappointed until then; the fact that there was hair in my food seemed like a minor problem compared to the poor customer service I had after this experience.
I rarely leave negative responses — however this incident really bothered me, and the employee made me feel like my complaint was not important. I’ve worked in customer service for over 6 years so I understand that accidents may happen and food or other debris may sometimes get in the food — but I have never brushed off a customer who called in, especially when the customer was not mean or angry, but just trying to be helpful. Safe to say I will definitely not be visiting this May Garden again.

Good food. We ordered a few dishes: We ordered Eggrolls, Sweat & sour chicken, beef & broccoli, May Garden Fried Rice (this is a favourite of ours, it has chicken, pork & shrimp), Chicken chow mein, and almond sui gai. The waitress forgot our chow mein and it wasn’t until the end of the meal that we realized it was missing, so we didn’t bother saying anything as it didn’t appear on our bill either.
The entire hour we were in there we were the only customers in the dining area, which was a bit outdated and dreary. We originally went in for Dim Sum, but after we got there, it didn’t look like Dim Sum was even going to be offered at this location.
The food was good, but it was served luke warm and it came out of the kitchen really quick, which would normally be a good thing, but given the temperature, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was all pre-​made and just scooped up out of a pot. It definitely wasn’t pipping hot with steam coming from it. The dishes were served on plates, not in serving dishes with lids, so the serving size was smaller than what we would normally get at the Chinese restaurant we normally frequent.

I love the food from this place!
Always plenty of rice and there are no chicken balls anywhere that taste As good I swear.
Love there prices, especially at lunch time when they have specials up.
I did have have a rude server last time I was there, who ignored me and my boyfriend and never did bring over my drink, but I have had other servers who are wonderful and take great care of you.
I’ll be back prob later this week!

They have great food and, so are the prices, not to mention the service. with friendly service. Every time that I am back in sackville I go to this place and order a good scoff. and its enough to eat for 2 more days after we stuff r faces lol

Every new years, you will find me here! And probably every couple months.
This Chinese restaurant has been around since i can remember, and i have yet to have a bad experience.
Whether you want to sit down and have a meal, or grab some for dinner at home. May garden has THE best egg rolls you can ever have. There beef, and crispy and even by the time i get to my destination the foods still hot and the foods always cooked!
A must go!
