the first time I went there, they forgot about my order until after 20 mins then they told me that they forgot about the order and apologized, that was okay the first time, shit happens. yesterday however, I ordered from them and it took them more than TWO hours to deliver my order!!. I’m guessing that they forgot about my order. again! also, don’t expect to get any compensations for extremely late deliveries and such, because I didn’t get anything. the food was pretty good, so there’s that. I’m taking two stars off just because the service wasn’t so great.

I lived near Koreatown in Los Angeles for the last 5 years, and then moved to London a few months ago. I feared I would be unable to find good Korean food in my new home — but my worries were in vain! Soo Dam has a wide variety of excellent, traditional(to the best of my admittedly limited) knowledge food for super prices. For those of you unaccustomed to Korean food: the meal starts with complimentary banchan, or small appetizers. If you run out, you can ask for more — and it’s all free! There was a delicious kimchee, a soft tofu dish, an egg dish, some noodles, seaweed, and maybe another dish or two I can’t remember. My friend and I each tried the Soo Dam bibimbap(rice topped with meat and veggies that you mix up with sauce and egg), and it was great — flavorful and comforting at the same time. The kind waitress came over to inform us that we should add the sauce, and nodded approvingly when she was we had already done so :) My guy tried the jajamyong(noodles in a black bean sauce), which he liked, but which was a little plain for my tasted. Service wasn’t lightening fast, but wasn’t painfully slow or inattentive, either. Prices range from $ 9 — $ 10 for noodle or rice dishes, up to $ 15 or $ 16(perhaps slightly more) for meat-heavy dishes. They also offer lunch specials! I’ll be back soon, and looking forward to trying the seafood pancake, and the gam ja tang(pork bone soup.) All of the stews and soups look great — perfect for a cold wintery night!

It’s just not as good as before. This place use to have really good Korean food but I ordered the soondubu jigae and it was disgusting. It tasted so bland and the soup was way too thick, like they added flour. Won’t be coming here again :(sad, I really liked this place. At least their steam egg tastes good still.

The place was pretty empty during lunch time on a weekend which should have been a sign that this place isn’t that great. This is the first time I’ve eaten here and probably the last. I ordered bulgolgi lunch special, my brother had bibambap and my sister ordered the soon du bu chigae. Bibambap was decent, the rest tasted horrible. I’ve been to many korean restaurants and this is the first restaurant that I’ve ever been to where I didn’t want to continue eating. The soon du bu tasted weird with a floury undertone. My beef tasted old — it’s like they cooked beef just before it went bad and tried to hide it with a lot of sauce. The salad was also bad. It was overly salty and sour. The only thing that was good was the deep fried dumplings, miso soup and the kimchi appetizer(probably not made in house). The fish cake appetizer was not very good either and the rice noodle appetizer had so much wasabi and pickled taste, we couldn’t handle it. Portions of the appetizers were big, which is great. It’s just unfortunate the food didn’t taste very good to appreciate the portions. Price wise, they are comparable to restaurants in Toronto. It’s too bad the quality isn’t comparable. Service wise, it was ok. The lady promptly took our order and food was served in fair time. Although, she was a bit slow in refilling our water but eventually did in the middle of our meal. Location wise, the restaurant was easy to access and find. The 26 bus passes along the that road for those who bus so it’s easy to get to. I know London isn’t a place with good Asian food but I expected decent food that I can actually eat without raising some questions about quality.

Used to love this place but its quality has dropped by a lot. The jajangmyeon noodles were all stuck together and the tofu soup literally had 2 pieces of tofu, 2 pieces of mussels and a cooked egg which it shouldn’t be cooked in the real Korean tofu soup. It was a disappointing meal.

I really wanted to love this place but they wouldn’t give me a chance. I called in for delivery and they told me it would be an hour and a half so I asked them if t would be better if I just came in. I came in and besides a couple and the wait staff, the place was empty. That should have been a red light but with the good reviews, I had to know. After waiting twenty minutes(in a freaken empty restaurant) the girl comes and asks us for our order. My husband tried got get the bulgogi and they said they ran out. He asked for something else and they also didn’t have that. So we asked for more time since the back up wasn’t available. Another fifteen minutes went by and the girl comes out with a plate of bulgogi for another couple!!! We just got up and left, because they obviously had no interest in our business. Always going to kimchi house

Went there for dinner, its a small restaurant in southern London. The tables are small so they have to combine tables if there are more than 4 people. Started with the side dishes and they were up to Korean restaurant standard. The kimchi was really good with a right amount of sour and sweet. I ordered the spicy chicken broth with potato and glass noodles. Not many Korean restaurants in London have this item so I had to try it. The portion was huge… a big bowl with many pieces of chicken(breast, thighs, rib, wings). I think there was almost half a chicken. Along with it are potatoes, carrots, glass noodles AND you get a bowl of rice to go with the soup. Needless to say, you will definitely be full from that. The taste was great as well, the broth had a mild sweet and spicy chicken flavour. The chicken was fresh and tender. Conclusion: Great taste, the giant portions were good for the price. There was only 1 server so food came out slower. Overall good experience, would come again.

First of all, I’d give it a zero star rating, if I could. My friend and I ordered Gamjatang and kalbi combo and we have never been so disgusted in our lives. The food was absolutely terrible, and I’d like to know when the last time they ever went grocery shopping was. The food is incredibly salty, and so we couldn’t finish even a fourth of our order. The kalbi combo only contained FOURTINYLITTLE pieces of meat, probably not even enough to feed a small child — definitely not an adult and definitely NOT worth $ 12. The gamjatang was just wrong all around — I don’t even know where to begin. It was slightly sour and incredibly salty, and I couldn’t eat past three little sips. For the sake of your own appetite and health, avoid this place at all costs. Not worth your money or time.

We love this little hideaway. Food is hot, staff amazing. Had the lunch specials. Soup, salad, kimchi, salad and egg roll. All for under $ 10.

If I had to describe Soo Dam in one sentence, I would say that it’s «Soo dam good». This place has such an authentic and home-cooked feel to it. You will usually be greeted at the door by a nice Korean lady who runs the place. Next comes the steamed appetizers. We all know that half the reason why we go to Korean food is for the small side dishes that are infinitely replenishable, and this is the only place around that gives you a steamed egg in a hot bowl! I always get the bulgogi soup because it comes with a delicious and sweet broth that mixes extremely well with white rice. The servers are always friendly and courteous, and the nice lady at the front actually gave me some tips on how to make the steamed eggs(hopefully mine will turn out as good as their’s). Overall, I believe that Soo Dam is one of London’s hidden gems that serves the community well. I will always come here whenever I feel like Korean food.

I absolutely love Soo Dam their staff are always polite and helpful, the side dishes are always made perfectly, and playing Korean music is an awesome bonus. All of the waiters, born Koreans know the meals with great skill and make sure you know what you’re ordering. I tried the Korean pancake, Mandoo soup, Kibimbap, Spicy Rice Cakes, and Kimchi Stew, everything is cooked just right and I love the Korean and English around the menus and restaurant. Great Korean restaurant to go to for a authentic Korean experience.

With a name like Soo Dam, my boyfriend and I couldn’t resist going in and giving this place a try. Our first impression of this small restaurant was that it looks very bland and boring; not as exciting as the name might imply. The menu that was handed to us on the other hand was very cool. There is a small selection of food to choose from but everything seems really good. For our starter, we ordered the Hae-Mul Pajeon(Korean style seafood pancake), not realizing that you are given some free side dishes. Our mains consisted of gamjatang(spicy pork bone soup) and bi bim bap(with traditional Korean vegetables). First off I just want to say that the free starters they give you is amazing! They give you four dishes: bean sprouts, kimchi, egg in a claypot, and glass noodles. Each dish was so good. I believe you are supposed to eat it alongside your main but we were so hungry we devoured it.(You can get seconds too) The Hae-Mul pajeon was equally as delicious. It was soft and a little bit crispy and comes with their dipping sauce. Korean pancakes are savoury not sweet like North American pancakes fyi. I didn’t enjoy our mains as much as I did our appetizers but it was still good. My boyfriend loved his meal and mine too. The portions were big so by the end of our meal we could hardly move. The only reason I am not giving this restaurant five stars is because of the wait staff. They were friendly enough but not attentive at all. We and another couple were the only ones there and we waited forever for our refills of water and tea. Our empty plates of side dishes sat at our table until our starters arrived. I would definitely recommend and would go back any day for their starters and Korean pancake!

I can’t get enough of this place! The food here is very home-style and authentic. I ordered the soon tofu and dol sot bimbimbap and they both tasted great. The side dishes were also excellent so I ordered seconds! hehe The service here is good and even when the place gets packed the waiters are still very attentive. Hands down my new favorite place for K-food in London!
