I’m from Los Angeles, but stayed in Dundas for a while about 10 years ago, and came here to eat a few times. I still think about the juicy roast beef sandwiches with dipping sauce, and French fries with gravy. There’s not one restaurant in LA where you can find anything similar to these. I’ll always remember Tally Ho’s.

Really great souvlaki platter. Juicy and tender chicken with a nice helping of tzasiki. Also has a nice burger and fries combo.

Tally Ho gets 4 stars from me, not because it is a high-quality foodie destination, like most of my other 4-star reviews, but rather only because it does what it does really well, which is being a late-night, low-brow Arby’s-style roast beef sandwich joint. Note to anyone who follows my recommendations, do not expect prime rib, nor artisan rolls, this is simply a 4-star, post-party, hangover mitigation destination. The«double beef basket» is the only thing I’ve ever had(except when I’ve opted for the regular beef basket and a 2nd regular beef — sandwich only, lol) and it is perfectly what it is. Namely, a shaved, well-done roast beef on a wonderbread sesame roll with my choice of horseradish and a dark brown(almost black) gravy from a powdered mix that is a guilty pleasure when added to the sandwich, and especially to the frozen fries. :) Pure nostalgia, but it’s so bad it is good! Those fries with gravy, and the entire vibe, takes me back to Christopher’s Charcoal Pit in the Scarborough of my youth, many decades ago. If you’ve ever wondered what the very first Arby’s was like before it became a fast food franchise chain, this is probably as close as you can come to answering that question ;) I am embarrassed to say that if it was closer, Tally-Ho would see me more often than I care to admit, lol. Cheers, .James.

I decided to give this restaurant a try. I ordered the beef basket which had a roast beef sandwich, fries, coleslaw and gravy. The sandwich was decent but alittle too much beef was stuffed in. The beef was an okay taste but they could have seasoned it more than the bland taste it was given. The fries were as good as fries can taste. The coleslaw could have been bigger to compensate for the large portion of fatty foods. The price was decent(approx. $ 8) for the portion but it wasn’t anything special.

Generally known for their roast beef sandwiches, the chicken souvlaki is some of the best. They make them fresh and are seasoned and cooked very well.

I’m not quiet into this beef sandwich. Beef seems a little bland for me. I prefer beef more juicy. But this restaurant closes very late, so it’s still a good place to fill a hungry stomach at late night.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember, my father has been a patron since he was around my age and it’s the one place we always stop at if driving through Hamilton. The place itself is a decent size with some booths and some regular tables, large windows and pretty decent restrooms. The food, while not fast food does have some pre-cooked elements such as the roast beef which is made fresh daily. The beef baskets are great if it’s something you like and the gravy is pretty good too although I’m not a big fan of it as I don’t really like roast beef. The chicken souvlaki pita is one of my favourite dishes, the chicken is cooked over a charcoal flame and is amazing. My absolute favourite dish though is the Greek salad, the dressing is fantastic and they will add as much or as little of the salad items as you want. The staff are great as well, they know us well enough now that they don’t even have to ask us our order. They’re always happy and will talk to you as they work. At times they run slow but they do get really busy.

A double beef basket… The one thing I miss the most about Hamilton! Thank god, I moved or I would be there a couple times a week! :)
