We recently stayed at the Olde Lantern Inn as part of a weekend ‘stay-cation’. We weren’t really sure what to expect, never having stayed at a B&B before but were extremely happy with our experience. The inn has 5 different rooms as well as a welcoming common room, several areas to relax outside, and a breakfast area that accommodates both couples and larger groups. While encouraging guests to interact with elements like the outdoor fire pit, we still found we also had plenty of privacy when we wanted it. We stayed upstairs in the Marchel Foch room which consisted of an extremely comfortable four post bed, a fire place and reading area, a window nook with a gorgeous view of the vineyard and a bathroom equipped with a large Jacuzzi tub. The rooms are a perfect mix of cozy charm(beautiful hand crafted furniture, vaulted wood ceilings) and modern convenience(remote controlled air conditioning, tv and dvd player as well as a selection of movies). Breakfast was served a little earlier than we would maybe have preferred(between 730 and 830) but the food itself was fantastic! I really enjoyed meeting some of the other guests and hearing everyone’s travel stories(Al, the owner of the Inn had seemingly countless travel experiences and stories to recount. An incredibly interesting man for sure!) We also took advantage of the close proximity to the Grand Pre winery(literally a few steps through the back vineyard) and went on their wine tour and tasting. Our guide(Katherine) was fantastic giving us lots of information and answering all of our questions while keeping it very light and fun. We were happy to learn that she also works at the Inn and would be the one cooking us breakfast in the morning :) I would definitely recommend the Olde Lantern to anyone looking for a relaxing and personal wine getaway in the valley. I can see how this place would be especially fun for several couples travelling together(something I think we will keep in mind for our next visit).

We have stayed with Al Connor at the Olde Lantern Inn twice and each time we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Al is a remarkable man, one of those rare individuals who has many talents and he uses them in the management and running of this inn. He has made furniture that you will see in it and he has designed and built much of the inn itself. He is a chef and cooks the breakfasts for the guests. He is a wealth of information to help you enjoy the area. We highly recommend staying at the Olde Lantern Inn. The area where the inn is located is great to explore too. Wolfville nearby is home to a university so there is a very youthful and energetic feeling about the area. Grand Pre is of historic value being the historic site connected with the Acadian saga. We hiked to Cape Split on our last trip here, which is a 5 mile trip to a point overlooking the ocean where you can hear the tide as it roars in. Be prepared for the 5 mile return trip though and bring plenty of drinking water with you. Olde Lantern Inn sits next door to a vineyard and a great restaurant also so you will be treated very well by Al and those who work together to make your stay a delight.
