What can be said about this place that hasn’t already been said? It’s pretty much been summed up. Dirty, smelly, severe lack of proper security, slow/bad bar service, small venue and mediocre music. I wasn’t shocked but I was relieved to see this place getting only 1 star reviews as some of the others for equally crappy bars have been things of delusion. If you’re banned from other bars, like basic EDM and need a place to get embarrassingly high and flail on narcotics, this is the place for you.

Their mediocre music can be heard from 2 blocks away. Service meh. If you’re 18 and could care less about service & atmosphere, it’s a perfect place for you. It’s not for someone who is looking for a great night out. Nasty!!!

Are you fucking kidding me!!? This place is infested with drug dealers and criminals it seems! Just wannabe gangta thugs running this joint! Last night a guy got punched in the face twice for no apparent reason by a couple of guys that seemed to be on something that made them edgy; the reason why I think that they were edgy is because they kept pushing and nudging people on the dance floor the whole time I was there, so I stepped off the floor and just stood by the far end of the bar for the rest of the night! Guy who got punched was bleeding all over the place and the worst part was that the bouncers dragged his ass out and basically asked him to fuck off! Now, me and my girlfriend stuck around until 2:30ish but the guys who assaulted that poor man were still there and still running wild! What a fucking joke! Never ever ever going to this place again! Who’s to say this won’t happen to me or someone else next weekend!

Worst management, dirty and sketchy patrons. Go anywhere else but here. I came later in the night, and the coat check was full. I brought my coat into the bar and had it stolen in less than 2mim while I danced right beside it and in arms reach of a security employee who was obviously on drugs. Lost my keys, cell phone and whatever the hell else was in my pockets. Security was a joke. Totally didn’t give two shits and when I started looking around the bar for my coat because security wasn’t helping me find it, they threw me out of the bar. Yep. In my t shirt. On a –20 something January night. No keys, no cell phone. Worst. Bar. Ever.

Upon check in the coat check employee forced my partner to remove their shirt because they stated that all coats need to be checked in. This was their SHIRT over their clothes. The only reason I suspect they would do this would be to charge him for the coat check as a cash cow. The music was horribly monotonous, maybe if you’re high on drugs this music would be okay but it was very repetitive and I normally enjoy edm or dance music. The population in this place was a very young demographic, probably 18 – 20 years old. The dance floor had hardly any people on it. Overall, my biggest concern with this establishment is the poor service and lack of respect from the employees. Upon check in the individual made snide comments to us and another individual saying«this is what I have to put up with all night» because she didn’t stamp our wrists initially and we started to walk away. We checked our coats, I paid for my friend and was only given one ticket for both coats. When we wanted to leave(early because it was horrible) the coat check girls got into a power struggle with my friend because they had never given her a ticket, they had only given me ONE ticket for both coats even though they were adamant that they had given her one which I know they hadn’t. I was completely sober the whole time so I know I did not mistake this. The girls gave us dirty looks and made rude remarks when we tried to explain exactly what the coat looked like. They refused to return it and told us that we needed to wait the rest of the night to get it back. I called the manager in at this point because it was ridiculous and they were behaving unprofessionally. It was just about the control and power they felt they had over the situation. When the manager arrived I calmly explained the situation and she spoke to the coat check in girls with my friend, again they said they gave a ticket which they did not, the manager was unprofessional and became frustrated with the situation, got my friends coat and said to her«they DID give you a coat check ticket!» and accused her of losing it. Then threw the coat at her and said«here’s your coat, have a nice night, BYE!!» And stormed away.

Twist Ultra Bar in a few points: 1. Bar not open on time, employee states, «we were caught with our pants down.»(I wonder what they were doing? 2. DJ «NOSHOW»… no DJ was playing. 3. While waiting for our drink order, the secuity guard asked us «who are you and why are you here?»… do i have to explain the concept of customers. 4. Ordered a Cosmo and bartender states«What’s that?»… For an «ULTRA» lounge specializing in high end Vodka thats shameful. 5. You don’t have to waste your time… Go to the commercial across the street. They know how to make a Cosmo…

This place is Edmonton’s worst night mare. What a sh**box of a venue. It’s kind of sad because at least Vodka back room had some good nights. This place is a sad and pathetic attempt at nothing. Dear bar owner, you can’t make money by simply having a club that serves alcohol on Whyte ave. This«bar» is a sad excuse of a night club that should be avoided at all costs. The drink specials suck, the music makes you want to scratch your ears out, the people are sketchy, the venue is dirty(my friend who doesn’t even know English had only five words to say — «this place is a sh**hole») and the management there looks like they may be on crack. I only met one person in management while I was there — Ian? And his eyes were as big as saucers and he was barely coherent when I was inquiring about the shift from back room to twist. I would never, ever go here, even if I were paid. We left after half an hour if… Well the best i can describe it as is torture… And i will never return again. Places like this that hire just anyone off the street and have no standards honestly worry me. Having not been to the Edmonton bar scene for a year, I’m really sad about what at least one venue has evolved to and I sincerely hope this place is shut down sooner rather than later before it makes even more of an embarrassment to the Edmonton bar scene.

I was going to come here and crack jokes about HOWINCREDIBLYTINY this place can be, but think the other reviewers got the point across. Thanks for saving me a few words, guys! Unlike Nicole B., I am a fan of dance music, but the dance music they play here is incredibly cheesy. It’s even cheesier than something you would here on 91.7 The Bounce. If that doesn’t scare you off, then I don’t know what will.

I have to agree with the other review. This place isn’t any fun. The place is really small and dance floor is even smaller. They don’t play very good music and the place was empty. It tries to push itself as a cool lounge but that doesn’t come across very well on Whyte Ave. I think this place really doesn’t have an identity and has no idea what it is trying to be. So no one really goes there because they don’t know what to expect. Overall it is a pretty dull place.

Twist is a very small«ultra lounge». I use quotations because there is nothing«ultra» about this lounge. I don’t think it should qualify as an ultra lounge. Twist is very small. It has a capacity of less than 200. There is nothing special about the atmosphere and there is nothing special about Twist in general. The music is mostly dance music(which I’m not a fan of at all). There are never many people there. The bartenders are fun, but then again there were guest bartenders when I went. But the guest bartenders were the only thing fun or entertaining about the the whole place. We left after half an hour — we were hoping it would somehow improve, but we were wrong.
