This is one of my favourite chain restaurants and my absolute favourite Moxie’s location in the city to visit! Management staff is clearly visible on the floor every shift(as I’ve yet to be there and not see a general manager or assistant manager present). They are not too high and mighty to bus food to the tables or clear plates away, something that has always amazed me without end. The doors are often held open by host(esse)s before one even arrives to the door. My latest visit(Fathers’ Day, as it is my Dad’s favourite place to eat) was quite surprising as our server Sara(h?) was highly inattentive and largely ignored us most of the night. Taylor, her trainee server however, was simply amazing! I can’t wait until we can tip her directly on our next visit! She was highly attentive, very friendly, impeccably and immaculately dressed, while most nimble of wit to understand my father’s incessant sarcasm, Irish accent and poker face while attempting to make jokes. Our meals were simply delicious! My Dad had Medium prime rib with a restuffed potato(something Taylor understood with my Dad’s vague explanations and European hand gestures and Sarah did not). My mother had the Loaded burger and I, the Blackened Chicken Burger with Yam Fries. The steak was succulently juicy and the potato deliciously whipped and spiced. The steamed broccoli was crisp and healthy. The loaded burger is just that: unable to fit in your jaw. I recommend taking off at least one of the buns. A knife and fork may be necessary to consume this monstrous burger. The Blackened Chicken Burger was moist, full and delicious. As ever, the Yam fries were in lovely shoe-string format with heavenly chipotle mayo dipping sauce. We skipped dessert to save our waistlines! We were wished well on way home by both our server(Taylor) and the hostess. Look forward to seeing your soon!

Never had a bad meal here… I usually always get their in season salad which has strawberries goat cheese quinoa… but opted to try pasta on a very hungry day and LOVEDIT… never had pasta in a restaurant that was to die for. DON“T get me started on their white choc brownie… just typing that I wish they delivered. YUMMM

This Moxies is closest to the office, but we went tonight for a date night. Parking is never an issue. We were greeted by four hostesses, and asked if we wanted bar or lounge. We chose lounge. We were greeted quickly by Morgan who was cheerful and got us our drinks quickly. I tried the frozen vodka soda, which was superb. We ordered the med bread and it came out in a decent amount of time. I prefer the two non salsa sauces — you can ask for all three of the same if you like! The appie was good and Morgan checked up on our drinks without asking. Our mains eventually came and were very tasty. I tried the new steak with mushrooms and Madeira sauce. The baked stuffed potato with mash potatoes was very nice, although I wish they just had mashed potatoes alone — still good tho! The rigatoni is also very tasty. Morgan checked up on us again for drinks and our meal and our bill was ultimately settled. Overall, service was great, food came out in a reasonable time and tasted wonderful. We’ll be back.

I have tried this location three times and each time I’ve had a bad experience. First time I went there my steak was undercooked/raw. Second time I decided to try a chicken dish and asked before I ordered it if it was boneless chicken. They said yes and low and behold it came out I had three bites and found a bone turned my stomach and could not eat another bite. Last time I went I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done. Tired of the stupidity will definitely not be back!

I’ll start by saying that my husband and I go to Moxies a lot. Usually another location. Bad service, waitress forgot our apps, I love the bruschetta!!! That’s why we went, we ordered two! No problem I’m pretty easy going, however none of the rest of our meal was right, how do you forget gravy on a poutine? Seriously just cheese on fries 0. o And no I would not like to try the lobster bisque, I ordered Caesar salad. They fixed up the food for us when we got it right if was finally pretty decent, just took a while to get there, all except the bruschetta, tasted burnt. Manager apologized and gave us a free coupon for an appy that expired a month before our actual visit. You can do better Moxies

My boyfriend and I have eaten at this restaurant many times. There are lots of good things to say about it. It’s a beautiful restaurant, the décor is very modern and dark and sets up a nice dining atmosphere. I have never noticed the restaurant being dirty as some of the other reviewers have said. I’ve never had a bad meal here(save for the fish tacos which I wasn’t crazy about. They weren’t cooked poorly, I just found the pita wrap the tacos were in was too chewy for tacos and it made the whole dinner really messy and hard to eat). I find the service really really boring and at times very cold and awkward. Everyone who works there seems to be under 20 years old which isn’t an issue in itself, but they all seem really inexperienced. Tonight we went for dinner with friends and once again we had a waitress who looked about 12 years old who failed to crack a smile even once. She didn’t ask us why we were out celebrating(we were there for my boyfriends birthday) or how our night was going or anything. Our food arrived in a timely manner and was cooked well so no complaints there. But not somewhere I would choose to go again for a special night.

Sitting at Moxie’s right now trying to swallow what could have been edible. My husband couldn’t eat the BBQ ribs. They were pre-boiled, covered & oven cooked again BBQ sauce. It ends up tough, dry, and overpowering boiled pork taste. My sister couldn’t eat, let alone cut into the overcooked, dry steak. My son’s penne was excellent as always. The manager came over because of the steak problem. I asked her if our server was new because she was beyond painfully lacking. 18 min for coffee & no explanation why it took her so long. More often than not, new servers tend to be exuberant, eager to do a great job… not in this case. It’s Thurs nite 6:15pm& less than half full restaurant. Don’t come here… really expensive $$$ for horribly cooked food, unqualified servers. Because the manager made an effort to come over, I gave 2 generous stars. This location use to be wonderful on many level but no longer.

Have come here 3 times in the past year, the last being yesterday for supper. It has never disappointed. Moxie’s has a classy atmosphere similar to that of Earl’s, and other restaurants in its price range. The staff are notably charming and attentive– the waiter we had last night came back at least every 10 minutes to check up on us. On to the food! I had the feature soup, which happened to be chicken gumbo.(I was intrigued by this, since gumbo exists on a HUGE spectrum of spiciness and viscosity. I was hoping for something stew-like, with chicken, peppers and sausage.) What I got was pleasant, veggie based soup with chucks of jalapeño and a few pieces of chicken. Not gumbo in the purest sense, but with a side of garlic bread, still satisfying. Two of the others in our group of six had the Montréal-smoked meat sandwich… which easily contained one of the most intimidating amounts of red meat I’ve ever seen. Naturally it was served on rye bread, with fries and a whole pickle on the side. I’d recommend this sandwich mainly for die-hard carnivores and anemics. As for the pasta, the portion sizes are also quite large. I’d strongly recommend the Mediterranean linguine… it’ll make a delicious lunch for the next day! All in all? A perfect place for a first date. The menu has something for everyone, ranging from Japanese to Italian to All-American inspired cuisine. The drink menu also looks good. They have a wide variety of wines, and I’m determined to try the raspberry-kiwi crush margarita next time I’m there!

The sound of Moxie’s Grill and Bar reminds me of chains like Cactus Club, SawMill of the sort nevertheless I went and gave it a try with my companion on a casual date night out. As soon as we walk through the first door, there stood an attentive server awaiting at the 2nd part of the door holding it open as we walk through. One of those special moments I suppose. I was of course — impressed — because with restaurants as such they don’t usually go that far and beyond — it’s impressively rare. Upon entering we were immediately sat at a nice cosy booth for two. I must admit the décor is beautifully done, modern, sophisticated and has an air of classiness. As usual; being new to Moxie’s, I looked around admiring its layouts and the way the walls were tiled nicely. Then I notice what looks like layers of dust to me. Yes, there were layers upon layers of dust hanging over the top ceiling and everywhere my eyes could possibly land its vision upon. Quite a surprise. Usually stuff like that shouldn’t be that visible but it was. Not entirely bothered. As long as it does not actually fall into my food, I’m happy. Our waiter was a happy chap and had a lovely waitress as a shadower; as soon as he introduced himself, the waitress took her time to explain the daily featured drinks and recommended some items off the menu. So far, we were pleased. As usual being human, we love fumbling about stuffs on our table. Opened our napkins that contain our utensils. To my partner’s horror, he found a ball of hair sitting quietly and cunningly right on top of his napkin. He didn’t seem like he was bothered by that so he threw it down the table and proceeded into opening his napkin but found more strands of hair in between the napkin and the utensils. I followed up with mine and found a couple of strands of hair as well. I felt disgusted. I personally had dined from high class restaurants — fast food restaurants and had never ever stumbled upon strands of hair in my napkins or anywhere near it. This was my first and I hope it’s the last. Not taking anything to chance, I notified our waiter and had them brought to us fresh napkins. Sadly, there were still strands of hair but less. Still,. that was a little bit. I mean overly off-putting just before our appetiser were due out. Anyway, our appetiser finally came; Med bread served with trio dips. The only dip that won our hearts was the garlicky dip. Enough said. The bread was fresh and has a finishing crisp to it. Yummy. Followed on, we ordered a Blackened Chicken Burger with Fries for my partner and a Top Sirloin with Prawn Lobster Butter as our mains. The food came out looking amazing. I had a couple of bites off the burger and oh my days it was crazy good. Then I proceeded with my Sirloin which I asked for to be medium rare but after the 2nd and 3rd slice of it, I realised it was much rarer than I asked for. The waiter had it changed quite immediately with no fuss. A couple minutes later my freshly re-made main came out looking better and fresh but after the 1st slice, it was quite clear that the steak was still quite raw and this time had blood drooling over partial of my mashed potato. They ask if I like it re-made, unfortunately I could not see myself stomach any further tries so we skipped straight to dessert. The white chocolate brownie with french vanilla ice cream, warm choc sauce and real whipped cream finished our meal at Moxie’s quite beautifully. The service was excellent, with the manager who came by to apologise; took our first two drinks off for the first main mistake; proceeded to taking the main completely off for the second mistake; also handing us some enticements for our next hopeful visit(free bite of brownie each and a free appetiser with a purchase of an entrée each in the form of a voucher). I would have given a 2 stars for the strands of hair and twice the mistake done with my main but due to their utmost excellent service that went far and beyond what was expected, I give them a shining 3 stars at its best as an overall experience.

Came here the other day with a group of 5 from work on a training day. The service was pleasant and the atmosphere professional. The prices were steep for lunch — with the exception of a few $ 12 items(like soup and a ½ sandwich). One of our group ordered the seared tuna salad for $ 17.99 which I swear came with about 2 ounces of tuna on a medium sized bed of lettuce. Eeek! I had the chicken proscuitto sandwich but it was nothing to write home about. Another discouraging thing about this location was how filthy the light fixtures were. Once we looked up, it was kind of hard not to look around the room and notice all the dust and spider webs handing and food splattered all over them. Everyone in our group agreed that it was like Moxie’s was trying to be fancy with their descriptions and prices but that the food did not live up to the descriptions and the lack of cleanliness left a lot to be desired.

Just stopped there for beers and caesars. Awesome patio, good staff, kudos especially to the hostess from Sunday. She’s from New Brunswick, noticed I spoke french, and made my day!

This restaurant is, like many people will point out, exactly like all restaurants in this price range which is just fine with me. This is exactly the right atmosphere that you can wander into in your uniform for some drinks in the lounge after work, or have a relaxing date in the dining room. I can go here regardless of my mood or how I’m dressed or what the occasion might be, and it works. It’s comfortable. And that’s just what you need some days. The staff are all very friendly and the food is consistently good quality and tasty.

Went in to this location to celebrate a co-workers birthday on Friday. I found the décor & ambiance very pristine & beautiful; since it was such a beautiful day out, we choose to sit out on their patio which was set up nicely. The waitress although busy as it was lunch time, still provided great service; polite, timely & engaging. The food arrived in a timely manner & was delicious! We opted to further celebrate with dessert; 3 of us had the trio while the other 2 had the white chocolate brownie which was absolutely moan worthy. Hahaha. Overall; food was delicious, ambiance was great & staff were very attentive! Definitely a place to go!

Moxie’s. .. Earl’s. .. Milestone. .. Chop. .. they are all exactly the same. Mediocre food. Decent drink prices. Good looking waitresses. It is all the same formula for these businesses and the only thing that sets these places apart is the quality of customer service. Chop in West Edmonton used to have acceptable customer service but it has gone down hill in terms of customer service. So I started to go to Moxie’s and now they are going down hill. Would I go here? Only if I was bored with everywhere else and wanted to do something different. Meal: I typically go with a steak of some sort and a beer. I almost always go with the seasonal vegetables. Taste: Bland and boring. And the quality of meat they use is poor at best, no better than a Chili’s. The best way I can describe the quality of their meals is that its just McDonalds served on a plate. 6 out of 10. Value: The last meal I had here was very poor in terms of value. The steak size was no were close to the size as advertised in the menu. The rest of the meal, especially the seasonal vegetables, looked overcooked. 1 out of 5. Service/Cleanliness: When I first walked in, it took over 5 minutes for the greeter to even come to the front to take my name and sit me. She was clearly out in the seating area chilling with her friends who happened to be the restaurant at the time. When I sit down, it took another 10 minutes for the waitress to ask me what I wanted to drink. I received my food in a decent amount of time; however, when it arrived, she literally threw my food down and said«let me know if you need anything» as she walked away, as if she was trying to get away before I could say anything. I finished my meal and it took over 10 minutes for my bill to arrive. I had to go chase down the manager to get me my bill. 2 out of 10. Atmosphere: Nothing special here. It’s no different than any of its competitors. 3 out of 5. Overall: I would suggest taking your money to Joey Mayfield’s instead or going downtown. 12 out of 30 points, 1 out of 5 stars.

I am a fan of the food at Moxie’s and can’t think of a time that I had a bad meal here. What’s inconsistent is the service though. You never know what you will get in that department. We arrived early on a Saturday and the restaurant was getting full at around 5:30PM. There’s lots of parking though so that is good. We were seated in the booth close to the bathroom/lounge area. I had the salmon on naan in the past and enjoyed it so that was what I ordered. I found it a little less food now and the presentation wasn’t as nice now. The taste was still good as it wasn’t too dry and there wasn’t too much sauce. The naan isn’t the best I’ve had but decent. We ordered the bite of brownie to share, and it’s perfect with the ice cream and whipped cream. It’s not a big dessert but after having a meal, it’s enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. With desserts almost the same cost as an entrée these days, this was a steal at $ 3! I’ll continue eating at Moxie’s for the food but don’t really care for the service.

Came here to check out their steak. Parking is available all around the building. The interior is split into the restaurant and lounge/bar halves. Interestingly enough, the latter is isolated from the restaurant area by some automatic sliding doors. reminds me of a 7-Eleven. The inside décor reminded me of Christmas as there were plenty of red and green lights. It was surprisingly quiet on a weeknight, even though there were sports being shown on the TVs. Service was decent and professional. No complaints there. The top sirloin I had was actually pretty good. The onion jam($ 3) gives the steak a nice sweet finish. The steak had a curious rice cracker-like thing on top. I don’t know what it was, but it was too crunchy to eat with the steak, and a bit too salty to eat by itself. The vegetables are good. Overall the place was decent, but there are many other choices around here.

This is my favorite Moxie’s location for some reason. The food is always great and the drinks are awesome. Also, the service seems to always be top notch. Overall, I’ve never been disappointed here. The only downside is that it can get pretty busy on Friday/Saturday evenings, making it pretty hard to get it.

Moxies«We’re fancier than BP’s» Basically cut from the same cloth as Earl’s and Joey’s… Service is good and professional, food is delicious, wine list is good. I had the penne toscana(penne, bacon, mushrooms, white wine reduction sauce) with the house red(which I believe was a malbec). I would for sure have it again and do recommend it. Moxies is great for lunches, dinners, first dates, patio happy hours(try the bulldog) birthdays or anniversaries.
