Argyll Autoworks

There seems to have been quite a few reviews removed from Argyll Autoworks since I first looked them up in November.
First off, Argyll Autoworks is not what you see at a Midas or other chain automotive places. It is a very basic operation, where they also differ from other places is their pricing and honesty. As someone who is admittedly bad with cars, I had hit a cement curb in a snowstorm in November and was afraid that I had bent the steering arm or some other major damage to the underside of my car. I took it to Argyll as admittedly I could not get into a chain automotive place. Sam had a look at my car and quickly told me only the wheel rim was damaged and quoted me $ 60 for the repair. Here I was thinking this could be a potential insurance claim and it ended up costing my $ 60 and I was on the road the next day. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

There’s nothing better than finding a reliable, honest and affordable car mechanic in town. I personally feel that Sam is da man! He gives a very honest report of how the car is every time. On a couple of occasions, he has in fact insisted and convinced me not to do certain fixes to my car which would normally be counter-​intuitive to a business procuring auto shop.
I got my car from Los Angeles and had to install a block heater (of course) when i came here. The first time ’round I got it done at Canadian Tire because obviously I was new to the city and had no real suggestions for a good mechanic. The heater they fitted stopped working before the winter season (2009) ended! LOL. Apparently the metal of the heating coil got brittle with all the cold and broke away. I then found Sam and he fitted a much higher quality one that’s lasted me for a while now and hasn’t shown much problems.
He charges less for oil changes, runs a small family-​style establishment and is a very friendly person. He also insists on using high quality stuff instead of cheap, temporary fixes. It’s still cheaper because the overhead is less with a small operation and his labor fees are quite reasonable.
