Made a little trip to the mackenzie king estate to check out the grounds and the ruins. We then stopped at the tea room for high tea. We ordered the mackenzie blend tea which was very good and the scone. My bf said the scone was delicious and I had a bit of the cream and jam that came with it and I agree… it was real cream and homemade jam… Amazing!!! As for the crème caramel, it was plan, and the sauce tasted super strong, almost alcoholic?! I didn’t care for the sauce, the desert itself was bland and needed maybe some vanilla or something to make it pop. The wait staff were nice and the team room itself was nice. We sat outside on the veranda and enjoyed the view. For 2 teas, 1 dessert and 1 scone it came out to about $ 18. Not cheap, but it was something new and I enjoyed the scenery.

Tea is fine, food is horrible. I’ll go back for tea only next time.

On a tour of the park area surrounding the estate we were getting hungry so decided to pop in for lunch and tour the grounds of the Mackenzie King estate. Waited to be seated for at least 8 minutes before I went and found the server and made him aware of our presence at the front door. There are three dining areas, two inside and one on the porch. As there was only one server we were seated in the smaller of the two inside dining rooms that seemed closed in and crowded. Given that the five or six tables in that area were all full it was fairly loud. We both ordered the chicken wrap with salad. OMG the chef really needs to learn what basic seasoning is. These grilled wraps had to be the most tasteless chicken I’ve ever eaten. Salad was a mix of greens with oil/vinegar dressing on the side. Wife had a white tea that she enjoyed and I had a coffee that was tepid and the dregs of the pot. If we ever ate there again I think we would stick to the tea and scones on the menu. This is definitely not the food of a stately manor house.

After visiting the historic estate of Prime Minister MacKinzie King, have the Afternoon Tea at the Mooreside residence. The service is delightful, the food delicious, and the setting is beautiful. My only gripe is the price, but it’s worthwhile.
