Rave Coffee

After trying most of the coffee venues in the Canmore/​Banff area, we decided to give Rave a try this morning. The shop is located in a non-​descript spot in a strip mall. When you enter, there is a bit of a small warehouse feel… but kind of trendy as well. I ordered the dark (all pour over), but can’t remember the coffee description. My friend ordered the Americano… which she asked for a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ decaf/​caf blend. For my taste, I didn’t like my choice as well as some of the other venues in town… and it was slightly more pricey. Overall, the service was good and I would still recommend giving this a try as maybe it was just a function of my selection today.

A little on the slower end of service… Really slow to make 1 drip coffee, but worth it. Nice ambience and tasty brews.

Bad service. Barista served his friends before a few of us that were already waiting for our drinks. Doesn’t matter if the coffee is good or not if you treat your new customers like crap I won’t be back and will let others know.
Worst part is that I pre-​tipped the guy… Wish I could have that dollar back.

Really enjoyed our experience at Rave! We came in right when they were closing and they were so kind and took the time to brew some seriously delicious pour overs. They are meticulous and make their pour overs with an exact amount of water at the perfect temperature. Right when they hand over your coffee it’s ready to drink and delicious. We were in town for 4 days and went at least 3 times. Great environment and passion for roasting and brewing.

Awesome place for a quick warmup after spending time in the snow! The guys here are attentive and customer service personalized. Variety of tasteful, gourmet coffee beverages as well as a menu of hot chocolate flavors that makes the normal «hot chocolate» NOT boring. This was a hit with the kiddos of our group. Both adults and children were definitely pleased!

Every time we travel back to Calgary from Canmore we pass by this place. I always see it from the road but we’ve never taken the time to stop in until this past weekend. We just plain needed a caffeine fix and wow, did we get it. The guys roast their own beans in store and there are a wide variety on sale from blended light to dark roasts and single origin varieties in a range of roasting shades. The drinks on menu cover a wide range of tastes and brewing methods, two leaves teas, and multiple iterations of hot chocolates. Yes, you can get a pour over here…
Rave Coffee has a coffee subscription ‘club’ where they send you a different 950g bag each month with brewing instructions and growing history. It’s a great way to learn about the characteristics of coffee around the world.
Dean and Taylor were nice to chat with and our coffees were made quickly, but more importantly delicious!

Awesome little coffee shop in downtown Canmore. Pour over with 10+ coffee options — the Rwandan and El Salvador were really nice. Friendly staff and good eats too. Might come back tomorrow and try a different cup.

Amazing little corner café with all the right moves. I had the Rave White, and it’s by far the best flat white I’ve had. They roast their own beans which you can purchase, as well as a small but effective and well curated assortment of coffee accessories.
Tl;dr: Friendly staff and amazing coffee. That is all one needs in life.

The breakfast bagels are delicious! I also tried the new Coconut iced coffee and was not disappointed! I was worried that it would be too sweet, but it was just right. Would def. come back when in Canmore!

Amazing coffee for even a coffee geek, they have fresh and locally roasted coffee from all over the world … If you are a serious coffee lover, it’s a «must go» place.

Easily the best coffee in Canmore, this is the only third wave café in town. (if I’m wrong about that, I’d like to know!) They have tasty little treats, but the star here is the coffee. They roast it themselves, and they do a pretty good job for a new biz. Every coffee I’ve had here has been excellent, whether it’s a pour over or espresso based. They also have some interesting coffee info in the binder on the coffee table (turns out light roast beans don’t actually contain more caffeine, who knew!)

I love this place, I ‘m going to get my coffee at every morning before work. It is a delight and the service is chamant.

My best coffee experience in Canmore. Finally a café that knows what they are doing! The staff was very knowledgable and friendly, and we ended up liking our coffee so much that we bought some beans. On par with Fratello and Phil & Sebastian in calgary. My boyfriend and I are looking forward to visiting again to try out some more of their beans.

GPS was taking us over the neighborhood and when we almost gave up the search, we saw a sign for «Rave Coffee» and drove into the parking lot.
The cute, little shop was very inviting, with a few chairs and couches. The back part of the coffee shop is where the beans are freshly roasted and you can look at the machines though the glass doors. They even sell small and large packets of coffee beans in the store.
We bought a café latte and loved it! So, ended up getting a large packet of coffee beans before heading out. These guys know their stuff about coffee!

I come here in my slippers.
The coffee is tasty and the staff is incredibly knowledgable. If you love trying different types and flavours of coffee, this should be your first stop in the morning.
Regular and Gluten free treats are available, made locally.

This place has potential, but needs help. We are locals, coffee fans, and have been meaning to stop by for awhile; finally did, and were immediately confused.
They’ve got a huge area for roasting (much bigger than necessary, it seems) in a great sunny space by the windows, but it’s glassed off and seemingly inaccessible to patrons. The main counter where customers come in is a tiny dark space off the back parking lot, with two couches (which were both occupied by one girl on a computer, who didn’t offer to free up some space). So after paying $ 27 for three lattes and granola bars, and unsure what to do next, we asked if we could sit in the coffee roasting room, where there was a table set up by the window. The owner (I presume) said sure, but while we drank our coffees and ate our bars, the barista (different guy) stood over us, eating popcorn in our ears. I suspect that he didn’t want us to feel too welcome in the «non-​customer» area. Also, there was a lady sitting alone in the far corner (the manager?) texting on her phone and staring at us as we sat there. She didn’t say a word.
The whole thing was uncomfortable.
Coffees were great, bars were good. Overpriced, but whatever, it’s Canmore. They need to rework their layout, and their customer focus. Unless they just want to be a roasting operation that sells beans and maybe coffees to go. Not sure that they’ll survive here.

Alex, yours has to be among the most idiotic, embarrassing reviews I’ve ever seen on Unilocal or in any forum. Complaining because a coffeehouse and coffee roaster serves coffee? Your post should be deleted.
Coffee is fantastic– I love how espressos are prepared on a lever machine, such gorgeous theatre! I’ll make a beeline here every visit to Canmore.

I stop by every week to pick up some fresh beans. The Ethiopian is my favorite.
Always fun to talk coffee with the guys on the other side of the bar. They are passionate and know their stuff.
The coffee is great and they are getting more snacks.
Personally I like that you can go to Rave and not have kids running everywhere. It is a coffee shop for conversation, a good book or some computer work.
