The food was ok. The service was not good. I think we had the owner as our server. She kept apologizing for everything, and there was a lot to apologize for. We ordered soup, salad and a couple of pizzas. It took over an hour to get our food. They were out of shrimp for the Butter Shrimp pizza. I kept offering to help so we could get our drinks. She did comp the drinks in the end but it’ll be a while before we go back there.

I love this place. The owners are fab, the food is great and I love the concept. The only down side for me is that I don’t really like the coffee. That of course is a personal choice, and others seem to like it.

Great restaurant in Discovery Ridge. The food is very good and the owners are very nice people. I just recently at the Thai chicken soup and it was excellent. For a nice little restaurant in the Southwest and located in Discovery Ridge I would highly recommend it.

Excellent food and great service! I love their thin crust pizzas and Monday’s pizza and wine deal is great.

Javino is a cozy little place in discovery that is most definitely worth the trip if your looking for great food and a comfortable atmosphere. If I could offer my humble criticism, it would be to fire most of the front line staff and bring in people who understand what«hospitality» means when referring to the hospitality industry. Its not that they are rude, they are just not polite. Besides walking around behind the counter with her mouth open(** our server), I didn’t catch a glimpse of a hint of a smile. With that being said, the atmosphere is just great, I harken back to my chef school days, visiting my friends cozy room to have a drink while we reminisced about the football season, now over, and our predictions of the season left to come. I guess what it comes down to is yes, I will most definitely be returning, the food is just too good to pass up. But no, I will not be staying in for a pint or two, for that I would need at the very least a smiling face to talk to.

Javino’s is a great little coffee bar, that is also part bistro and wine bar. It offers casual and very comfortable surroundings, and a pretty extensive coffee and food menu. There is a box of toys as well, for the younger set. It is frequented by the residents of both the neighbourhoods of Discovery Ridge, as well as Elbow Valley(as they don’t have their own coffee house — yet). Everything has only improved under the new ownership(which took over a year or two ago). I would say that the one drawback Javino’s has is that it is trying to be all things to all people — something which usually doesn’t work out all that great, but Javino’s seems to pull it off ok. All in all, recommended! It is very nice to have a cup of coffee here and read the paper early on a Saturday morning in the neighbourhood!

If Javino weren’t tucked away in the Southwest corner of the city, I’d likely spend a lot of time here. As it is, I have occasion to go to Discovery Ridge once every week or two, and I will make it a point to hang out here for an hour or two each time I’m there. Javino is equal part wine bistro and café, with a pretty substantial menu, all the typical espresso drinks, and a decent selection of beer and wine(it may have a full bar; I don’t remember at the moment). It has indoor and outdoor seating options, and strong free wifi(with plentiful power outlets). It’s usually pretty quiet when I’m here(on weekday afternoons). My one complaint is that I found the food here really salty and a little greasier than it needed to be. In particular, the panini and the soup($ 11 for the combo), both central to the menu, were both salty and a little oily, though otherwise tasty. I’ll work my way through the menu to find something that better suits my palate. Actually, one more complaint(this is a major pet peeve of mine): the prices on the online menu don’t match the ones in the store! I trust they’ll remedy this soon.
