I am extremely giddy about this Dollarama store. I was off work last week(and this week took actually) and one of my many spring projects was getting my kitchen pantry sorted out. I was responsible for hosting the biggest gong show behind two bi-fold doors. I love to cook, so I have most dry ingredients and spices known to man, and no order, and to complicate matters, I enjoy buying in bulk. When I opened the doors, nothing fell out — but if i was looking for cinnamon? farro? shredded cococut? Good luck! It took me 2 minutes to put my hands on any one thing. I went to Dollarama looking for solutions to my kitchen pantry problem, and solutions I found by the cartload! Given that this business is called Dollarama, I don’t have to get into the specifics on prices here, but the selection was vast for the task. I knew I wanted glass(since I have an aversion to putting food in plastic) and from there, I just needed to decide what shape(round or square) and how many(LOTS). For very little money and about a half a day of focused attention, my pantry now looks like a Martha Stewart kitchen. All my pasta, rices, grains, bulk spices, crackers all have homes in glass jars so that I can see inside of them. My old system was to have all the bags secured with a clip, with one cardboard box for pastas, one cardboard box for grains, and two shoe boxes for bulk spices — you get the picture. If you are doing any home organization projects, definately check out Dollarama. What an affordable way to bring order. And the staff are great(for me). They didn’t pester me. :)

What can we say? Its the Dollar store! Value is guaranteed but don’t expect luxury or personal service.

29⁄30 Save for the«Everything for 99¢ Store» in the Bay Area, this is the most organized and vastly stocked dollar store I have ever been to. AND some of the stuff even survives the trip home, instead of falling apart once you get it out of the tons of unnecessary packaging it comes in. Fill up a shopping cart with genuinely useful items for under $ 10! Did your socks get wet because your shoes aren’t properly insulated, and you parked in alongside a frosty puddle? Head on down to Dollarama and pick up a pair of dry socks! Got some American friends that want strange and exotic Canadian snacks? Dollarama, eh! This is the only place where I can find Nuty Max candy bars! Babysitting and don’t want your charges touching your Dr. Who collectibles? Buy some cheap-ass plastic toys at Dollarama that they think are magical, and will make you the hero of the day! Got a buttload of makeup that needs organizing? Buy some daily pill organizers at Dollarama, they’re fantastic for getting your giant eyeshadow collection in order! Last minute party times? Dollarama’s got you covered, and the Liquor Store is nearby! Getting pug fur all over your passenger seat? You guessed it, Dollarama carries pet covers for your car. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Because, despite the name, not everything at Dollarama is $ 1. It’s more like, spend anywhere from 50¢ to $ 2.50 :). And once, I got an enormous lecture from a teller for buying a bunch of tambourines. I WILLBUYALLTHETAMBOURINES I WANTTO!

I know what you’re thinking: «WHO is this Sapna G. chick? What a dollar store whore». I’ll admit, I’ve developed a recent obsession with dollar stores. I don’t know where it came from, but it hit me… hard. Don’t be surprised that I covered yet another dollar store this week. But don’t worry, I aim to please and the information that I am about to disclose is a crowd pleaser. Wait for it… I have yet to visit a dollar store that has as much selection, organization and variety as this dollar store. I’m not kidding. Here’s a mini listing of only a FEW of the things I saw in this dollar store that I’ve never seen in any other: –Party size bags of chips — Gardening seeds! 3 packages for $ 1! You can grow tomato, zucchini and pea pods in your backyard for UNODENIRO! — Yarn — Vases — like the nice, ‘found in flower shop’ kind. Not the ‘oh, you must have gotten this at a dollar store’ kind. — A multitude of packing ribbon — like the kind of selection you’d find in a fabric store! — Artificial flowers — Dog biscuits! — Hamster food — Chef Boyardee — Butterfly cookies — yes, you know, the ones available ONLY in China Town! — Feather Boas — C’MON! This alone makes it worth the trip! — DVDs — Fig Newton bars — *Great* Music playing in the background Remember, this is a very minimal list of all the treasures you’ll find if you visit this location. It’s mind-blowing the stuff they carry, and the best part you ask? If you’ve got a toonie, you’re bound to leave with at least one bag in hand ;)
