My review is based in esthetics only as I have never tried their hair services. Mackenzie is my brow goddess and even though it’s been a while I can say she does a fantastic pedicure as well. Easy location with parking but if you are on transit it’s a short walk from the Ctrain and loads of buses service the area. The shop itself is an Aveda Salon which means it smells like heaven when you walk in. The only challenge for me is getting past the retail section at the front door as I want all of it. The spa side is quiet and tranquil like you want in a spa. The treatment rooms are a good size so you don’t feel like you are in a closet and the pedicure room is nice and bright with lots of room if you come with a friend.

Brittney at Diva Salon on 17th is a miracle worker. She took my dour, uncoloured and heat damaged hair and provided an unbelievable balayage, olaplex(really, if you are lightening, get this!) cut and style. The staff are super inviting and professional and take care of you the minute you enter the studio. They have comfortable and spacious waiting areas and uncluttered and organised styling stations. A full line of Aveda products are available on display to look through and on several, even test. But back to my Master Stylist, Brittney. She is professional warm and easy to discuss hair concerns and aspirations with in a thoughtful and non-judgemental manner. Her technique is a joy to observe, there is a degree of skill I have not seen from other professional stylists. She explains her process, time commitment and expected outcomes before initiating her work. My hair has different textures, densities and waves. These were taken into consideration when recommending products and styles, and her recommendations, when seen to completion, turned out far better than I had anticipated. Along the way she described products she was using that were available in a no pressure manner and how they are best used. Any question levied was answered without hesitation or irritation. And I ask a lot of questions! The final style and blowout was again beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you to Brittney and Diva for providing me the style, poise and confidence I need and had been lacking in my appearance. I would heartily recommend making an appointment with them today.

moving to YYC forced me to find a new place to get a haircut. my girlfriend suggested this place and they had a really aggressive first time visitor discount, so I felt compelled to go. why I keep going back: 1. super friendly staff 2. they have lots of drink options while you wait 3. product selection(yes, it’s an aveda spot) is pretty good and they give you a discount when you return empty containers of hair product(for recycling!) 4. convenient location with a decent size parking lot(FREE!) 5. great check in offers of free aveda gifts 6. lots of service options(see: waxing, if that is your thing) 7. xmas gift card + treat bag which was pretty awesome(they have set the bar now, and am hoping this is an annual thing!) 8. Oh yeah, they can cut my hair really well plus it comes with multiple shampoos /hot towel /neck massage It is a bit pricey, but you are paying for a great experience!

5 stars for the stylist… I went there with Anita… And I have to say she was AWESOME… Since the first minute she was super friendly… Also, she was super professional, she provided a consultation, and I explained exactly what I wanted and that was what she did, nothing more, nothing less… My hair was very damaged and dry, she offered a treatment that was like magic, now my hair looks very healthy and stunning… I am super happy with my hair cut and my healthy looking hair!.. It was a 6 stars service… At the end she also offered the products that suit with my hair needs, and I think she made a great recommendation… I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants a good haircut and a beautiful hair… She really knows about hair and how to make you look good… I had a pedicure in this salon with Ashley, and it was good my pedicure last for 2 weeks like It was made the day before… The staff at the front desk was very nice, and the place was very clean… I definitely have nothing to complain about this place, I recommend it 100%

I have been going to Diva since early 2000’s, and have been quite pleased with their service over the years. Mostly, I get my hair cut, but I have also gotten color, massage, and waxing done. They taught me I have curly hair(sounds silly but I really just thought it was«frizzy» growing up) and more importantly how to tame it. PS, the right cut for curly hair is the MOST important part. I still force out little tutorials with each visit, and my lady is still so patient! Aside from the lovely cuts, I love the fancy coffee & Aveda tea while you wait, little scalp massages before AND during your shampoo and random Aveda samples they give out. The only reason I gave them 4⁄5 stars is simply their prices are a little more than I’d like, but every time I’ve cheated on my stylist, I’ve paid for it dearly in other ways… Would totally recommend Diva.

I went to Diva last Saturday to get a hairstyle for my sister’s wedding along with the rest of the bridal party. It was the worst mistake ever. If I could I would give this place a 0⁄5 stars. First, the salon gave us students to do our curl down hairdo. The hairstylists didn’t even know what a finger curl was(1920s signature hairstyle). Next it took 2 hairdressers to curl my short bob. 1 hour after leaving the salon I had to return, because my hair had completely straightened. They gave me a Gift Certificate for half my money back(not even Cash back!!!) since they could not give me the hairstyle I wanted. First of all, they knew I was from out of town and the GC is completely useless to me, and secondly, they shouldn’t have wasted my time and told me right from the get go. A 3rd stylist curled my hair once again. Well, their stylists and products aren’t very good because I went home crying. Finally I got my sister, the bride, to curl my hair on the day of her wedding. She also had to redo hers as the curls had also fallen out in her hairdo. So in all: we didn’t get the hairstyle we wanted, we were charged for a professional do that was done by a student(which would be cheaper), the curls they put in didn’t stay for anyone, and finally they couldn’t even give me my money back, instead they gave me 50% back in a gift card. I won’t recommend this place to anyone and I will be contacting management as this was completely unacceptable.

Can’t live without Sanja! She’s been doing my hair for 3 years and I need a fix from her every three weeks… also love the free parking and more recently, the new coffee. Front reception and crew who answer the phones and make«reminder» calls are brutal!!! If it wasn’t for Sanja I would not be willing to put up with reception and crew’s awful attitude !

Commitment. Trust. Sensitive Scalp. I have issues when it comes to people touching my hair. There was never any hair braiding while sitting on the carpet in elementary school for me. For years I have flitted from different stylists at various Market Mall hair outlets only to return and find they no longer work there, but I have found my hair soul mate at Diva with Sanja. She is an Educator Stylist, so I know, she knows what she is doing to my hair. Her cuts are amazing, she is friendly, no awkward silences while a shower of split ends land on your lap. Free bang trim in between appointments and a makeup touch up after your cut. The scalp massage is also to die for. I am now in love with Aveda products and the whole salon smells wonderful. Can’t say enough good things, have yet to try out the spa aspect. Will be returning in a couple weeks as part of a bridal party not with my usual stylist, so we shall see if the review improves!

I have been going here for years, and have always been very satisfied. I see Michelle for waxing and Sanja for my hair. Both these ladies are at the educator level, so it is more expensive, but still worth every dime. I am a student so sometimes I need to scrape to go there, but they always make me feel very comfortable and welcome. I believe in paying for the quality service, and will continue to see these ladies. Also, the Aveda tea is like crack, so good!

Loved it! Best haircut I got for 50 $ I think it’s amazing getting a scalp massage and a shoulder rub before they start its soo relaxing. They offer make up touch ups after and when I dared to get a new talent to do my hair a master stylist made sure she was doing a good job. My hair looks fantastic and I won’t be going anywhere else for a LONG time

I agree with the above person that about location(Westmount). I’ve had issues with Arlene’s way of talking to people and also I found that she doesn’t really resolve clients’ problems. My problem had to do with a New Talent stylist from 2010 March scratching the«New Talent» words on her card and then manually scribbing«Stylist»(which is one level up) on there. Then reception told me that this person IS in fact a ONLY New Talent. She shouldn’t pretend to be one level up when she’s not. Worse is that this makes it an outright lie because a Stylist is licensed, New Talents are not(no matter how close they are). I don’t know about you, but I would feel much safer going to someone who has passed the test(the license) to handle chemicals going into my hair. Of course, Arlene’s suggestion would be to fix whatever I don’t like about my hair just to shut me up, but she did not understand that my main issue was the New Talent lying in her business card and how big of a deal that was(licensed vs. not licensed). I didn’t even make any comments about my hair and was not even asking for a redo! I’ve recently gotten Arlene’s manager(the owner’s) name and will be contacting him to discuss my issue. This is not the first time she has misunderstood my issues and I find that this is always the case. Also I find her impolite. Also, she may state facts strongly to make herself sound knowledgeable, but most of what she states don’t even relate to the issue at hand.

I love this place. $ 35 haircut gets you a wash, head massage, good haircut, follow up wash, hot towel and some pretty good conversation. Ask for Vanata
