I’ve just realized that my last post was 2 months ago… I was busy with my full-time and part-time job and didn’t have enough time to blog. Literally there are more than 50+ posts I need to catch up. I am thinking to finish these off during Christmas holidays. Please stay tuned :) It’s such a sad feeling to see my ranking goes down from 7th to 40th or below. Anyways, enough talk about my personal stuff, and now back to SophiaEats! Since Sushi Bella’s successful restaurant launch in North Vancouver in 2010 they’ve expanded three other locations all over Metro Vancouver. Sushi Bella is famous for their trendy French-Japanese fusion dishes and creative Bella Sashimi & Appetizer selection. I work here part-time on weekends, so I’ve got to try a variety of dishes! More to come :) *Disclaimer: This review is solely based on my personal opinion and experience. The first dish I tried is Bella Tower($ 12) which is one of their most famous items! The crab meat base is mixed with avocado and shitake mushrooms, and topped with chunky salmon & tuna sashimi, tobiko and deep-fried lotus root slice. Bella Tower tastes better with its creative sauces — wasabi mayo, balsamic sauce, pesto, garlic chips and capers! Because of the crab mix and pesto, it gives out very creamy and rich flavours. One thing I like about this dish is that the crab mix isn’t pre-made! Beautiful Creation! I can never miss Salmon Sashimi when I visit any Japanese restaurant! Salmon Sashimi($ 10) usually comes in 6 slices, but this one contains 8 slices because they are cut thinner. Toro($ 2), Red Tuna($ 4), Hamachi($ 3), Amaebi($ 3.5), 2 Uni($ 3.5 each) Nigiri Sushi(from Left to Right) — My favourite was Toro and Hamachi! They were really fresh, flavorous and creamy. The prawn head was deep-fried and served with the crab mix. You can enjoy it as a delicacy :) — Below is the second visit with one of my friends! For appetizer, we ordered a Puri-Puri Ebi($ 8). The panko-breaded prawns are deep-fried, and come with salad and house-made creamy, fruity sauce. It is extra crunchy compared to the regular prawn tempura. Of course I ordered Salmon Sashimi($ 10) again! This is the regular size of salmon sashimi. It was not as fresh as the first time, but still tasty. Toro($ 2 each), Hamachi($ 3), Red Tuna($ 4), Tamago($ 1.5 each) Nigiri Sushi(from Left to Right). This time there was a slice of avocado on top of toro nigiri sushi, which gave out more creamy texture. We also got some Bella Rolls! Crazy California Roll($ 7) and Crunchy Go-Go Roll($ 6) are the two most popular rolls at Sushi Bella. Crazy California Roll is basically a deep-fried California Roll topped with a variety of different sauces including unagi, chilli mayo and sriracha sauce. Crunchy Go-Go Roll is a must here! It’s filled with double prawns, yam tempura, avocado and topped with crunchy flakes and chilli mayo. It’s the cheapest, yet most filling Bella Roll! For dessert, we got an Ice Cream Tempura($ 7). It’s a huge scoop of Vanilla(or Green Tea) ice cream covered with thick batter and deep-fried. The batter was a bit overwhelming and became soggy pretty quick. Overpriced and honestly their nigiri is almost supermarket quality. Fish was not fresh and it was the first time I’ve ever had chewy salmon nigiri. I definitely won’t be coming back here. Would rather go to Sushi California if i’m looking to satisfy a cheap sushi fix.

I was so excited to try Sushi Bella after hearing about their Kitsilano and downtown locations and finding out that we had one in our neighborhood! I must have driven past this restaurant many times, but never noticed it. When we decided to go, I have to say parking was difficult. We had to drive back and forth a bit, and finally managed to find a spot, but walked through pouring rain to get to Sushi Bella. Once inside, we were very impressed with the décor. Modern, clean and very trendy. The service was friendly, efficient and fast. First, we tried the gyoza, which tasted a bit dough-y and tough. We wondered if it was cooked from frozen. We ordered three of their special rolls, Crunchy Go-Go roll(delicious), Volcano roll(good) and Lady Mango roll. All three of these rolls looked beautiful and artfully plated. The Lady Mango roll was my most anticipated roll, but was a big letdown. The giant chunks of mango tasted like they were canned or frozen. They didn’t taste fresh. Next, we had the california roll, which was mediocre. The servers were quick to bring tea refills, but the tea was always lukewarm. Very unsatisfying. If you’re interested in beautiful sushi that you can add to your instagram feed, this is the place. But I’ll stick to my favorite sushi restaurant, Yakko Sushi, which has fresher and tastier ingredients.

I love all the Bella locations, this particular location is very quaint and romantic. Wait what… A sushi restaurant that’s romantic… yes! It’s dimly lit and there are some semi private booths… meaning they are about 3 arms length away. Excellent service, amazing top quality sushi and beautiful presentation. If you want to impress a date take them here and order everything ! yum Yes it’s a little more expensive than your average sushi garden… but remember you get what you pay for. This is definitely a place to impress.

One of the first things that caught our attention was how nice the restaurant is. The staff are friendly and the food is really good. Our table ordered Chicken Karaage, Hawaiian Poke, Lady Mango Roll, and Ugly Truth Roll. My top picks for the meal were definitely the specialty rolls. The Lady Mango Roll had avocado, red beets & yam tempura roll with tropical mango salsa. I really liked the mango salsa, it was sweet and tangy, and really helped to bring the roll together. The Ugly Truth Roll had bacon, asparagus, crab mix, cheesy chopped scallop tataki & bonito on top. This roll was so yummy, I liked how the scallop was lightly seared. I found both rolls to be very delicious. I would say that although the Tuna from the Hawaiian Poke was really good quality, it could have used more sauce and more flavor. I would definitely come back to Sushi Bella, but my only hesitation is that they are a bit pricier. Also, I would like to add that the Chefs have beautiful plate presentation.

I used to frequent this location when I worked in Kingsway. I also found myself feeling uneasy going in for some reason. The staff is polite but I’d still feel uncomfortable. They’d offer tea while I wait, as I’d usually have my order to go. The sushi is a bit over priced for what you get. The chili chicken is just covered with a sweet and sour sauce, not too special. I needed food, that was quick and close to work, so this was it. If you have a choice, go else where.

We had sashimi nacho, volcano pizza, crunch gogo roll and house green salad with sashimi(all salmon). Every sauce was incredible. Sashimi was very fresh and their garnishing was like an Art! I think their style combines Italian and Japanese. We are very happy with their presentations food, atmosphere and service act… 10% off for their grand opening til the end of Feb. Definitely I will be back to try other dishes.

Hardcore heavy-duty unrefined power sushi house. I feel like I just ate a buffet after having lunch at this restaurant. I don’t like it. — Above average modern décor. — Sour miso soup with no tofu. — Crispy authentic tempura. — CHUNKYTUNA and CHUNKYSALMON(and still very cold in the middle) — HUGE Dynamic Roll — GENEROUS amount of imitation crab meat like they don’t cost them any money — questionable combination…(chopped scallop on saba, wtf?) If you want to feel like a garburator, you will enjoy this restaurant.

Henry H you can criticize and express all your dislike towards Sushi Bella Metrotown. But please be civilized and show some respect. DONOT insult other patrons with your own pre-judgement. I am so offended by Henry H’s review & I don’t like it at all; his comments are being mean, not true and not fair so to speak. I just have dinner here and I really didn’t feel like anything close to Garburator coz I enjoy the food in this Sushi Bella. This Metrotown store is compatible to their Downtown store in Davie St. except the ambiance is more romantic & the music is softer… All I can say is I will be back to try other items on their menu.
