Fresh and well cooked seafood. The white wine sauce was a bit too heavy on it. But the presentation and experience was definitely worth while.

Went there with a couple of girlfriends last week and we didn’t know what to expect. Read some other reviews and we were looking forward to our meal. The menu was easy enough and we told our very nice waitress we had no idea what we were doing. She explained the whole process, we choose Combo A or B and then our sauce, we went with the B and the Holy Smoke sauce and added pasta. She came out with a big bowl and dumped it on our table! So fun! The bowl was left so we could put shells in. We feasted! It was so good and tasty. Nothing like eating food from the table with your hands, it was a wondefful experience and we will be going back!

I’m very surprised that there aren’t more places like this in Vancouver! The food is is delicious :) My partner and I came here as we were craving seafood. We ordered the combo B with the holy smoke sauce, added noodles and 1 additional pound of shrimp. So good! My only complaint is that since this is the ONLY restaurant like this in Vancouver, they should make the environment more welcoming and fun.

I am giving this place a rating only on basis of food delivery via Skip the Dishes. Is it a good seafood place? I don’t know. I do know it’s the ONLY place I can order whole Crab and Prawns from with delivery. I love that! Was jonesing for crab two nights ago and voila, it arrived within 45mins with just a $ 4.95 delivery fee. Very happy they deliver!

Good service and good food. The holy smoke sauce is wonderful. They give warm bread at the beginning. The crab we got was fresh.

Can’t believe this is the only place like this in the lower mainland. You would think that there would be more places like this being in the Pacific Northwest where quality seafood is accessible. I’ve experienced this style of dining before in a few different places in the states and this experience doesn’t quite match up to my previous experiences south of the border. Although it is similar, the Cajun flavour lacks depth and tastes like a heavy tomato sauce without much spice. We thought the corn, sausage and pasta was fine but the actual crab quality and quantity was low. For a place called So Crab So Good, it is quite misleading. The interior isn’t super fancy but the kicker for me was the location of the restaurant. The building itself already seems a bit shady and to top it off, there’s an Asian rub and tug next door. Wonderful. My rating does not factor in the massage parlor as I think it’s something out of their control.

This is located second floor in an old building pass boundary. I would of never found it. It’s pretty good! A little too hot for me the sauce. One of my most memorable experiences is eating here with a bunch of people and very social and enjoyable experience. The owner makes the food and is the cook and he is seriously hard at work for his customers. He came out to greet us all. It was a big group and service slow but the experience was excellent! They dump heaps of seafood on the table for you while they give u mallets and glove. So much fun!

Quirky atmosphere but once you get passed it, the food is really delicious. Had 7 people in my party and 2 orders of combo B with the«The Holy Smoke» sauce, which had a kick but was so good, 2 orders of garlic bread(which was good), 2 orders calamari(which was so delicious), 2 orders of the shrimp with mayo and a calamari burger was enough to fill everyone up for a really great price.

This place is one of it’s kind! It’s like Seattle’s Crab Pot but the sauce is way better! It’s worth trying!!! Two combo B comes with 2lbs of dungeness crab! check in on Facebook and get free pasta!

There is no crawfish here. Service was good, i called at 1:45 to tell them i was on my way and to see if theyd still serve us, since they close at 2, and reopen at 5 for dinner. Luckily, they did serve us. The sauce was good, maybe because i like garlic! They also gave us bread to start with, not a lot of places do that without charging. I’ve had better cajun foods, but this was not bad at all, i was a bit nervous since im not from canada, trying their cajun foods, and especially after reading the reviews, but i’d def come here again if i wanted crawfish in Canada.

What a funny little place! It’s a little quirky of a building and they had country music playing in the background which I found very unusual but charming. We weren’t sure how this was going to go but we loved it! We ordered the Combo B for 2 people and it was lots of food for a good price. Our server was really great and accomodating to my Gluten Free diet. She kept the bread to the side, checked the ingredients on the sausage(yes, it was GF), suggested that I NOT have the Garlic Butter Sauce due to wheat being an ingredient. The menus could use an update but meh. who cares! It’s the food that’s important and they won us over with that. A little hole in the wall turned out to be a gooder!

After seeing numerous instagram posts and pictures, my friend and I have decided to check out this place, which turned out to be… an OK choice. We had combo A(almost $ 19 with tips per person) and it literally had 2 oysters and some seafood including several prawns, crams, and squid. Overall it had 80% pasta and 20% seafood. Potatoes were awful though. The rest did taste ok, and I recommend this place if you want a «new» experience(aka eating food with hands). You will be filled by the time you leave the restaurant for sure too. Service was excellent, I was just really disappointed by the amount of seafood I got compared to how much I paid.

I don’t get it… how come there’re many bad reviews! I was craving for seafood yesterday so me and my bf went there for dinner after work. The restaurant is not those super fancy decorated one but the service was good! They are very polite and explained clearly to our questions to the menu. We ordered Combo A(bunch of seafood) and Combo B(like combo A But with crabs), my Bf got the Holy smoke sauce(cajun, lemon pepper and garlic butter) and got the same but without cajun. They go so well tgt and the seafood is fresh especially the shrimp. Theres also a bonus special yesterday which we got pasta mixed with the combos as a bonus without any charges! I also like how they provide each of us with a wooden hammer, with just a couple hits the crab shells easily cracked open, it was so helpful! Our bill came to $ 44.xx after tax, and we were really full! With 2 fruity tasted ice bars sweet treats when they gave us the bill, brings back my old memories when i was a kid… love this place even more! However i wish they have more variety of seafood! Will definity go back next time!

Came here a few times, and was never disappointed. Always order Combo B(the one with the crab) Because the point of this is the crab. If you’re going to order Combo A then it’s really not worth coming. The price is very reasonable for you what you get(2 people serving contains 1 whole crab) I would recommend the Holy Smoke sauce, it’s a buttery creamy garlic sauce, with varying levels of spicy that you can chose. Their crab is always fresh, and cooked just right. It’s fun to use the little wooden hammer and smash some crab legs. Come here for the crab!

I went in the summer with my family and some visiting relatives, just something fun and different. We ordered a range of different things, pastas, corn, shrimp, mussels, calamari, and of course, crabs. Honestly, the food was nothing to be excited about, especially when seafood is so accessible in a place like BC, by comparison it was not particularly fresh and the shellfish had something that border-lined on a foul odor. I hesitate to say I would’ve have probably enjoyed a fillet-o-fish from McDonalds just as much or slightly more in terms of taste. However, for me all was redeemed by the growing looks of concern across my cousin’s face as large bowls of food were dumped on the table. The pleasure was watching my family trying to pick up slippery pieces of spaghetti from the table and trying to transport bits of crab into their mouths. Service was kind of slow and not particularly enthusiastic but again the entertainment value for me trumped all.

Recently for a friend’s birthday my hubby and I made a trip out to Burnaby Heights to try out So Crab So Good Restaurant & Bar, a seafood restaurant similar to The Crab Pot in Seattle. If you haven’t been to The Crab Pot, basically it’s a seafood restaurant where they cook all your seafood in a giant pot and pour it directly out on the table. Diners are given a wooden board and a mallet so they can hammer away at their crab(and anything else you want to smash up!). So Crab So Good is located on Hastings St, in Burnaby Heights — a bit hidden as it’s actually located upstairs, above a breakfast hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It’s a fairly small restaurant, so you will need to make a reservation in advance otherwise risk being turned away or waiting quite a long time unless you come right when they open at 5:00PM for dinner. They are also opened for lunch. Note, they are closed on Tuesdays. As we were a large group reservation, we had to arrive by 5:30PM on a Saturday. We were presented with a one page menu with the key order being either the So Good So Crab Combo A or the So Good So Crab Combo B. Combo A includes shrimp, clams, mussels, corn, red skin potato and sausage cooked in your choice of seasoning(Hala-Cajun, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Butter, White Wine, Origin of the Sea, The Holy Smoke — a combination of Hala-Cajun, Lemon Pepper and Garlic Butter) and your choice of spice level ranging from No Spice to Extra Spicy. Combo B includes everything Combo A has plus dungeness crab. Both combos require a minimum of a 2 person order. They also have various fried seafood items and burgers, but you’re mainly here to experience eating off the table and smashing your seafood to bits with your mallet! My hubby and I ordered the Combo B to share. As a special, you can also Like their Facebook page and Check In for their special promo — which they will add pasta to your pot of seafood! We had that added for free and made for quite a filling dinner for two. The seafood was cooked to perfection. We chose to have the Holy Smoke seasoning with medium spice — which turned out too spicy for me in the end. I think next time I’m going for mild. Also I found the garlic and spices lingering in my mouth hours after dinner — so probably best not to choose that option if you are on a romantic date. Dinner worked out to be around $ 60 after taxes and tips for 2 people — a great deal if you don’t want to cook all that seafood as we paid more than that at The Crab Pot in Seattle. However, I found the service particularly slow. Perhaps it’s because it takes awhile to custom prepare each diners’ orders — whatever the reason, it took us a good 30 – 40 minutes to receive our meal. Also, they didn’t provide plastic bibs for us — so don’t wear white or nice clothes if you come here as it can get messy. It would’ve been nice if they provided plastic bibs with their company logo similar to The Crab Pot. Hopefully they can improve their service time and provide bibs for their diners the next time I come back. Or perhaps, I’ll have to bring my own!

Went to use up my social shopper coupon, I made a reso at 8, decently late time for dinner. But since it was the last day to use the voucher, it was very busy. However, if they accept a reso, they should’ve reserved a table. One group was there waiting for more than an hour past their reservation, and owner asked them to just wait rather than offering to extend the expiry date to come back later. I’ve had groupon voucher extended for 2 months because the owner moved 5 – 7 mins away from her original location and she wanted to give her customer a chance to reschedule and use their vouchers(spa). That’s how you turn a negative experience into a positive one. By addressing issue and finding ways to improve and be fair. So their unwillingness to extend expiry date and forcing everybody to wait despite their failure to keep the reservation didn’t come across as a good service or business to me. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait as long. 30 mins wait. And another 30 mins for food to arrive on my table. Food was okay. Nothing too special. Plastic forks were a bit weird in a restaurant that is not food court nor fast food. I think for what we paid, it was okay but I wouldn’t definitely pay regular price for the food you get. The girl people mention in reviews — yes she had some problem with understanding English but most of times, she was able to communicate. Space is small and very odd(upstairs, almost like an office space) but that didn’t bother me too much.

I was initially hesitant to come here, given the negative reviews below. But my friend pointed this restaurant out and really wanted to do seafood for dinner, so I relented. This place is almost a dead ringer for the crab boil place in Richmond that closed down already. If you can ignore the fact that it’s located on the second floor of what I assume used to be a Mexican restaurant(a lot of the old décor remains), and that to get up there you have to go up a flight of dimly lit, leaf-crusted stairs(really, they don’t sweep the stairs), this place might not be too bad. The lack of décor and the wax paper on the table didn’t really bother me(duh, it’s a crab boil place. Wax paper makes sense), though I figured I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover… But we’re here for the seafood… which is terrible unfortunately. Me and my friend ordered the Combo A, which included a lot of tiny mussels, closed up clams, potatoes, sausage(99% sure it’s the Farmers sausage from Costco), corn(probably the seafood boil’s only saving grace), squid(surprisingly not rubbery), and shrimp that honestly look like it had been cooked three times over — defrosted, then nuked. For a restaurant whose main draw is its seafood boil, I really expected some fresh seafood! Is that too much to ask in Vancouver of all places? Instead what I got was a «seafood boil» I would’ve been able to assemble myself by going to Costco and buying out the entire frozen seafood aisle. And the bread aisle(bread they served in the beginning refs from the big C), as well as the pasta aisle. And the sauce they smother the seafood in. When they say the sauce is spicy, it’s spicy alright. And for someone who can handle their spicy food, eating my way through the boil left a nasty feeling in the pits of my stomach — the kind that you get while downing something that’s probably 50 shades too spicy. Well, the spice level wasn’t that bad, but it was«all spice, no flavour», which I suspect was done to cover up the taste(or lack of) the seafood. Also needed more salt or some kind of seasoning. I suspect that even if we got their garlic butter sauce instead that it would suffer from a severe lack of seasoning. We paid 15.95/person to eat sad, dead seafood, but there were a handful of tables that night that ordered Combo B, which is essentially Combo A with a quarter of a crab per person(so half a crab shared between 2 people, and it’s a 2 person minimum to order). Combo B is about 26.95 — so you are essentially paying $ 10 more for a quarter of a crab. It so happens that most of these tables used a Socialshopper coupon for their meal with Combo B. Not something you should pay full price for to be perfectly honest. The night’s total came to about $ 40 including tip. I left feeling a bit sick to my stomach. Even if you held me at gunpoint, I would never come back again. The service wasn’t even as bad as other reviewers put it(though this one kid didn’t seem to like his job, and it showed), it’s just the food that was a terrible letdown. I would’ve given this place just 1 star, but the owner seemed like a nice enough guy. Come here for novelty’s sake, if you’ve never had a crab boil. But avoid if you want to eat good seafood. Or edible seafood for that matter. And don’t want your wallet to cry.

We stopped by to try the $ 8.99 pasta lunch special. You are able to create your own pasta, toppings and sauce combination. You can also pay for additional options. We ordered two pastas and paid $ 2.99 extra for a chowder set(seafood chowder and Portuguese bun). I picked fettuccine, clams and scallops with holy smoke sauce. There was a free topping of bacon crumbs that I picked as well. It actually tasted pretty good! Plenty of fresh tasting clams and probably previously frozen scallops for the price. Lots of sauce and it was mildly spicy. The chowder set was just as good. Portuguese bun was fresh and crispy. The chowder was loaded with seafood but was missing the potato. Some people would question if that is really a «chowder» but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. My only complaint is that the clams were intentionally opened completely and placed around the dish. I would have liked it if the clams opened up naturally and mixed into the pasta. The presentation of the pasta was a bit odd with a circle of clams around the plate. 4⁄5 for the food. My date had mixed pasta, sausage and scallops with garlic butter sauce. He said it was pretty good as well. We also received some ice pops for dessert when we paid for our bill. Awesome moment reliving my childhood even for a short time lol! That was free so I was surprised and enjoyed my ice pop in the hot weather. Our server looked really young and did not know how to be a server. She assumed we were ordering the a crab combo or something and set up the wrong cutlery before we placed our order. When she did take our order, she then preceded to take away the cutlery and give us the proper set up for our meal. That is inefficient. It took forever for her to bring our water to our table. That should be one of the first things she should make as a priority(anyone’s drinks). Also, she did not seem to like her job. Ambiance is okay. Lots of orange everywhere. Nothing fancy. Cleanliness can use some work. First off, we had to go up a set of stairs to get to the restaurant. The stairs was full of dried leaves. They should vacuum the stairs regularly as first impression matters. Also, there are no screens to the windows so flies were flying around my meal. I chose to sit next to the window for better lighting and was met by numerous flies flying in and out of the window. The rest of the restaurant looked clean enough. This place has potential to be better. Because of the cleanliness and inexperienced server, I rate this overall experience as 3 stars. I might stopped by to try a crab combo. There were 3 tables eating those combos but I only wanted a small meal. I do think the pasta special was a good deal and I might stop by to try that again as well. It is not Anton’s pasta standard or selection but still was pretty good!

I’d hardly call this place ‘creole’. It’s a boiling crab/crawfish king/crab pot knock off, but who doesn’t like seafood? So decided to give it a try. They have a pretty limited menu. Choice of 1lb of shrimp, crab or muscles which generally range less than $ 15. Some appies like calamari, yam fries and other fillers. The food wasn’t bad, we ordered the ‘all of the above’ sauce can’t remember what it’s called but generally I’ve had good success with the sauces that say all of them. You can choose how spicy we chose no spice because I can’t handle heat very well which was in hindsight a bad idea because it was quite bland. Butter garlic rue essentially. The calamari was pretty tasty. The food was okay at beat, it didn’t blow me away. They also ran out of rice which is weird, what Asian owned restaurant runs out of rice? The décor is kinda mediocre but its cute, you can’t really expect anything fancy. Very small so not sure if it would be good for a big group that’s larger than 5. For the other people who reviewed complaining about the paper table clothes and eating it off the table obviously don’t get out much because that’s how crab pot type restaurant works! Duh. Like I said, I wasn’t blown away, if the prices were lower or they offered a groupon I’d maybe go again but can’t say I’d be upset if I never went back.
