My fiancé and I were craving Greek food and wanted to use a coupon from our Entertainment Book before it expired, so we decided on Sfinaki. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we felt it would be a good experience. The restaurant gives you a very authentic Greek vibe. We waited just under a minute to be seated and sat at the table by the front window. It was freezing there! I kept my jacket on the whole time. We didn’t take long to decide what we wanted but we waited a long time to be asked if we were ready to order. I timed it: we waited a whole 6 minutes. As we waited for our order to be taken, I swatted away fruit flies. I wasn’t impressed. After our order was finally taken(we both ordered the Chicken Souvlaki), it didn’t take too long for our Greek salad to come. It was alright, nothing impressive. When our main came, we noticed that our server was someone new. Not sure why we ended up with a new server but our previous one never came back. As for the food, the main was fine. Again, nothing out of this world. The mains were $ 18 each. Without the coupon, it wouldn’t have been worth it. Thanks to the slow service and just mediocre food, we won’t be back.

Now I’m a bit surprised after the average ratings but mine is based only on desserts: my specialty lol. Ordered the regular winner, Baklava which ranks up there. Fresh, full pieces of almonds, and home-made. Went for to go and smart how they packed the honey separately. But the real favourite, a new one, is the Bougatsa: a flakey filo with a solid vanilla custard. Add the white frosting & whipped cream, now I’m hooked. The décor itself is gorgeous: definitively date material or celebration. Liked the private table right at the front as per pic. Pretty romantic. Saw a sign celebrating their 20th anniversary. Very gorgeous service who nearly packed everything & patient too.

Always a decent place. Friendly service and food tastes great. A bit over priced though.

I gave it three stars strictly because the food served was fair. That being said the menu is in desperate need of an update. No changes in many years… Boring. The restaurant itself is horribly cluttered, kind of tacky and dirty. when we sat down on those horribly uncomfortable seats, my forearm stuck to the table ! The servers are hit and miss. the one we had last night seemed like it was her first job. I want to like this local landmark but it so very much needs an overhaul just stay current. The one item that I really enjoyed this restaurant(the stuffed calamari) has been taken off the menu and never run as a special again, too bad.

Let’s begin with I was asked to come for a birthday. So normally I wouldn’t go to a restaurant that has less than good ratings on Unilocal. Environment was decent. Nice staff. Decent space. I ordered the meatball dinner who after reading another person’s review thought it would be good. I wouldn’t say the flavor was bad. But It wasn’t amazing. I wasn’t wowed and I left hungry as hell. The dinner came with 4 small beef patties with rice half a potato tzatiki and Greek salad. I was less than impressed. I just ate because I paid for it wasn’t cheap. 17 bucks I think for it. What a rip off. Never coming back. Ever.

We were headed to a different restaurant and came upon this one. It looked interesting and had a good menu. It is family owned and operated. Our waitress was one of the grown daughters. She was charming and helpful. The food was fresh, well prepared and plentiful. The lamb was very good. If you have a hunger for Greek food, this is definitely the place to come.

Absolutely horrible! Bad service! It doesn’t even deserve one star! If I didn’t ask, the server would never bring my bread which was supposed to be served at the beginning of a meal. There were so many empty tables. But she took me and my friend to a tiny one. We felt like we got discriminated. Please avoid at all cost!!! Small portion, pricy food. You will feel u got rid off!

3.5 stars. 4 stars for the spanokopita dinner dish, 3 stars for the veggie moussaka which tasted pretty bland. service was efficient, maybe not the most attentive but we were a large group with our own kids table with 7 kids. even i would avoid our table if i could! i don’t know why they give water in teeny tiny glasses. i only mention this because i made the same criticism of marcello’s and then a couple months later they changed to regular size water glasses. i like to think that some rando nobody Unilocaler(i.e. me) had everything to do with that: P i found the portions to be generous, to the point that even i couldn’t finish my plate — and i eat everything in sight if it’s there long enough. i would go back for the spanokopita.

Very good service and nice atmosphere but everything was doused in oil. That made the lasting taste in your mouth when the meal was done and wouldn’t go there again as a result.

Food was pretty good. Not the cheapest but fair for what you pay. Friendly staff. The atmosphere and décor are the best part.

Been here twice now and enjoyed it both times. The service is quick and friendly, the food is not swimming in grease(as is with some Greek places), and the food tastes delicious. The lamb shoulder just falls off the bone and is full of phenomenal flavour, the potatoes and rice are nicely seasoned and not too salty/buttery. I am glad for the pita bread portion being relatively small(as others have said) as I would much rather eat my whole meal than munch on bread. I also like that they usually bring the salad before the full meal. My only complaint(of sorts) was that the calamari was quite chewy last time, not sure if it was because it had been frozen before, or it was just larger pieces and that was how it was, but it still tasted good, so really, not a huge issue. Feedback-wise, I would also want about twice as much tzatziki as they provide normally, but that is just me maybe haha

The food was OK. The service was the worst I’ve ever seen. It took 45 minutes per drink and two hours to get any food on the table before we even got a salad. At the end, it took three different times to figure out our bills and it still wasn’t right.

This is my go to place when out-of– town guests, or good friends want to celebrate with Greek food at lunch or dinner. The service is good, the food has never disappointed and has exceeded expectations more than once. Our favorite appetizers the dip combo(hommus, tsatziki, and tarama) is a must starter along with their dolmathes, with it’s killer avgolemono sauce. Unilocal pricing categories need to be tuned up a little a $ is Cheap($ 10), and $$ is moderates I would give this a $$.5;, and other Greek restaurants just a $$(which Unilocal refers to as moderateas they try and keep things under $ 20.

With so many great Greek restaurants to choose from, I doubt I’d return to Sfinaki. Portions were small and the food was bland. Not to mention extremely overpriced for what you get. The Moussaka had been microwaved, and the potatoes and rice had zero flavour. The most pathetic part though? We were given one tiny piece of pita to split between two people. C’mon really? How cheap can you get? Pretty sad.

Just went here on a Friday night. My girlfriend made reservations for 11 people. The charged us $ 10/person to make the reservation. Never heard of this but my girlfriend really wanted to go here as it was in her neighbourhood. 5 of us arrived on time and they would not seat us until we were all there. One girlfriend had was planning on being late due to babysitter issue. 9 of us arrived still not seated. Restaurant could have been making money on our drinks but … Food was okay. My husband’s souvlaki was bland and chicken over cooked. Others said the lamb was dry. My calamari was bland. Definitely not work going again.

Unfortunately Unilocal forced me to give at least one star. Positive note: Greek meatball appy was good, food was a little warm and authentic Greek music The rest: service was super slow(15 – 20 minutes for the appy). My lamb shoulder was totally bland and without any flavour in the lamb, potatoes, rice, or even the Greek salad! I have no idea how you screw up Greek salad? My wife had the chicken souvlaki and I tried it. The chicken was way over done(shoe leather) without any seasoning. Just to get some flavour, I added salt and pepper which I haven’t done at a restaurant for over a decade. It didn’t help. I was going to ask for some ketchup but that just repulsed me too much to pay $ 55 for a meal that REQUIRED ketchup. I ended up just leaving half of it untouched. Absolutely terrible experience… do not go here.

Ordered the kalamari appetizer, arni psito lamb shoulder, mousaka, and baklava dessert. $ 51 +tip Kalamari was great. Meals were both good. The mousaka was a bit disappointing because it wasn’t very thick so you didn’t get a lot of eggplant or zucchini in each bite and the bechamel was over toasted. Baklava was pretty great.

I’m always a sucker for decent Greek food. Add this place to my list. Parking is available along Hastings as well as the side streets. The inside looks like some mythical garden, with plenty of plants everywhere. The waitress was very friendly and professional. Special mention here. Lunch is a bit on the pricey side, at $ 14 or so for most platters. Nothing too surprising though. Our lunch platters came with pita bread, which were nice and shiny(read: oil). A bit bland, but nothing some tzatziki couldn’t fix. Overall my lamb souvlaki was quite tasty. The greek salad was heavier on the tomatoes than other places, but this is not a bad thing. Also it wasn’t too sour. The lamb itself was very nice. Served with a half-potato, as well as the dish of tzatziki. The world needs more places like this. Recommended.
