I like this place. It reminds me of an old school photography store, back when the staff were grown ups who had actually touched a real camera. It has the classic glass counter with gear below, with old timers standing there ready to answer questions.
The staff is friendly but not high pressure. I feel bad because I’ve bought three things from here and returned two of them (not the store’s fault). The customer service and return policy is excellent. As well, if they don’t have something in-​store, they will bring it in, usually by the next day. They have a decent selection of used cameras and lenses as well, including film cameras for dinosaurs like me.
If you are tired of getting blank stares at the large brick retailers who want to upsell you a TV when all you want is a camera bag, give Kerrisdale Cameras in Burnaby a try.

Oddly enough, didn’t come in here for cameras but for the cool GoPro mini-​video recorder that you mount on your helmet while boarding or biking but sales rep Rocco very helpful in listening to my quest to use this for hockey.
He sounded cautious yet confident that it could withstand a blast from a puck as it is encased in some hard plastic, as well as he’s heard some stories where it still worked after major drops or even in the water.
For $ 350, it’s worth a chance lol.
Easy to use, plug and play with a SD card.
Overall this store isn’t as nice as the Kerrisdale but it’s a lot more spacious.
Then again, parking’s here free and readily available than W. 41st.

My husband looks at this place how I look at food.
My husband is a photographer. He’s been all over taking pictures of trees and not people, and since we’ve been together, he’s been dragging me all over taking pictures of more trees.
We come here to look at lenses, camera bags, tri-​pods… He wanders by when he has a day off to look at what he wants to buy next. Had he not lost his Go Pro in the ocean, he would have been able to buy accessories for it.
The staff is really knowledgeable and really about helping their customers.
