Definitely my go-to spot for baked goods. They always have a delicious loaf of bread to take home. Often, we also pick up some almond croissants which are the best and have large Marcona almonds on the outside. They had tiny little pastels de Belem that were excellent but aren’t always available. They have lots of other culinary delectables(cheeses, meat, spreads, olives, cookies) that are all so tempting that it’s hard to walk out of there with only one thing.

Very nice place in one of the best locations of the city, Leblon. The sandwiches are great — yuo can choose the bread and everything that goes inside! There are a good variety of food made in the bakery and ready to take away. The place is beautiful and cosy, but is full most of the times, specially for breakfast on weekends.

I had one of the best sandwiches here. It was a roast beef sandwich with a fantastic sauce on it. I got a mango juice with it and that was awesome. I’m sure you have read this but getting juices while in Rio are a must and this one was very good. We sat near a dessert case and I couldn’t help but steal a glance every couple minutes because they all looked so good.

Chicken salad was a tad bit salty and the toast didn’t help(both are tolerable separately though), and the suco de frutas abacaxi was on the bitter side. I’d still give it another chance bc of the many options they have! Maybe their sandwiches would be a better choice. Everyone has an off day! Plus, I really like the atmosphere!

Adoro o Talho Capixaba! E a burata é maravilhosa!

Talho is such a versatile spot… I’ve dropped by for fresh bread for dinner, a quick lunch or an afterwork pastry and cappuccino upstairs in their café area. They have a great selection of deli sandwiches and though they don’t come with sides like we’re used to in the States, they’re simple and fresh. Talho also serves breakfast with dishes ranging from just bread and butter, yogurt, granola to a spread for two people which includes most of the above. Another thing I love about Talho is the attentive servers they have working upstairs. I’ve dropped spoons and napkins and they’re whisked away within minutes. Nothing escapes their attention! And because they’re constantly patrolling the dining area, you hardly have to wait for your check if you’re in a hurry. While there are more coveted tables downstairs along the sidewalk, these are often occupied and I find that the service is not quite as attentive. Probably b/c they’re scurrying around dodging customers in line waiting to check out.

Second time here in four days so I figured it’s time for a review. I think it’s important for people to understand that this is not just a bread store or a small café, but rather a mix of everything. They have a pretty good selection of meats and cheeses, but their bakery is where they shine. In addition to the always-great bread that other Unilocalers have mentioned, they also have pastries. If you want more than just goods to take home, the café in the back is an excellent choice. Although the prime seats are outside, the service and selection is just as good in the back. Warning: if you’re going on a weekend, get there before 9am or else you may be waiting in line. Omelette, waffle, and fruit salad are just some of the breakfast choices that are in addition to the good selection at the bakery downstairs. Locals seem to be the majority here, so it definitely helps to speak some Portuguese.

Best bread in Rio! I always take back their grainy loaf to São Paulo… Great coffee, good service and a well curated selection of groceries, wine, meats and cheeses. A solid choice for breakfast, lunch or cake if you’re in Leblon. Good breakfast options and the sandwiches are good. Always busy so try and avoid peak hours if you want to snag a table.

Was here for breakfast. This is usually a delicatessen store with some few tables outside and a bar inside for breakfast or food. The breakfast was nice. Nice croissants and bread, good coffee. Service was good so overall a great experience

Probably one of the best places for breakfast(café da mañha) in Leblon, although there’s not much competition really. Don’t expect french style pastries(no chocolate croissants f.e.), but the sandwiches are very good, and you can choose the ingredients. Pricey though(like everything in Leblon), around 12 – 15 euros(35 – 45 reais) for a sandwich and juice/coffee. Since the café is in the back of the place(most of it is reserved for the bakery/deli shop), unless you’re lucky enough to get the few tables on the street, there’s a slightly closed up feeling about it(there is a window but it looks on a closed garden/wall). Still, clean, new, and the service is ok(nobody speaks English of course but you can ask for an English menu which will help you explain what you want).

Went there once, saw a queue and I left. Second time I went, saw a queue, actually queued and managed to get a table within 15mins. Ordered their breakfast set for 2. For that price, I was expecting a wee bit more(comparing to other breakfast/brunch places I have been to), but there is no denying that their bread(variety that came in a basket — croissant, puff pastry with chocolate, wholegrain, baguette…) was really really good. Coffee was a bit cold, but besides that, I would surely go back to try the other things they have to offer… some of the pastries looks absolutely delicious :) p/s: I’m glad that I stayed in line :)

Great place to have coffee, espresso drink, juice, or tea with a great baked good in a good area of the city. I recommend this place. They have lunch and food as well. Salads to sandwiches. It is really clean and when you see it or get there you notice it. I enjoyed the baked goods and local crowd. This is a good place to get together and plan your day in the morning or night, great area of Gavea.

Definately not my favorite for breakfast. It is very crowded and pricey. But you can get a muchhhhh better nice breakfast at Le bicycletee or Escola do Pao. This place is good to buy some Brazilian appetizers.

I didn’t order any of their deli food here, but rather used this as a daily stop off to pick up wine, bread, and cold cuts to take to my family’s apartment as we walked by. The staff is very friendly, and seemed to be quite good at managing the huge nightly crowds at this place. While they do serve food, and have a café in the back, the main focus of this place is as an upscale deli and bakery — prices aren’t cheap, but the quality is excellent. I remember when this place was a butcher shop, and am glad that it got put to good use after they closed. Interestingly, the place right next to this is a classic old-school ‘padaria’ that has been there for years — it seems to be doing quite well also, despite the new competition. Talho Capixaba is a bit more upscale, and has a wider selection of ‘gourmet’ items, though. You make the couce depending on your mood! Will definitely be back! Don’t miss their little breadsticks — they are phenomenal!

I came here based on some reviews on other sites saying it was a good gourmet deli sandwich experience. There was no sandwich menu and no clear counter specifically for sandwiches. There were a handful of pre-made pastries and some stuffed rolls. I had a braided roll stuffed with spinach(or some similar greens) and sundried tomatoes, which was pretty good. There’s also a café upstairs, which also has desserts/pastries available.

I’m pretty spoiled by good sandwiches in San Francisco but I think this Rio deli plus gourmet food market competes. We more or less played Russian roulette with the sandwich menu, since it only seemed to be available in Portuguese. In addition to many of the items being a complete mystery the prices are quoted in «per-kilo» cost. You have absolutely no idea if they’re going to bring you a giant hoagie or a finger food sandwich — I think in the end the sandwiches ended up being about half a kilo and R20, comparable to a high-end US sandwich. The«safe» order is their roast beef sandwich(mostly because the word for roast beef in the menu is English) and it is decent — comes hot with swiss cheese(I think? No way to be sure.) on ciabatta. The«adventurous» order everyone was jealous of was the«Australian» sandwich — prosciutto, sundried tomatoes and some kind of delicious cheese served warm on a brown roll of some kind. We also bought some cheese, sliced deli meat and artisan bread. Great for enjoying on the patio later, and unlike local grocers vending lower end mass-produced packaged goods, felt worth the higher price point. When in Rio, well worth the visit!

O melhor pão do Leblon!
