You don’t expect any luxury when you stay in a youth hostel. But what we did hope for were a clean room. Our room was tiny and rather dirty (did they even care to use a broom for the floor?) and the en-​suite shower (no toilet in the room) was disgusting. Thank got we only stayed one night. The breakfast, which was included, consisted exclusively of toast and jam and some cheap Nutella replacement. Cereals and milk had been there but were out when we arrived at about 8.30.

Great YHA Hostel in the centre of Brussels. Rooms are clean, basic — but ensuite, and cheap. A big downer is the 0100 curfew — I don’t know how literally they enforce it, because I didn’t test it out, but. walk in at 0100 and there is a banging nightclub in the hostel! So it’s not all bad at all cheap leffe, and the DJ does requests. What more could you want?!
