Although the Brussels Waffle and Gaufre Liege can be found on any number of streets in most of Belgium’s major cities, it was Waffle Factory and its several location that seemed the most «chain-​like» or «quick-​casual» of all the shops visited during a recent trip, the process streamline by big boards and suggestions for customization while the results were actually on par with many others at a higher price.
In this particular instance visiting the corner store at Rue du Lombard 30, a number of English speaking tourists just finishing up an order as the options were perused, a credit card friendly environment was a welcome change compared to places like Belgaufra or Le Funambule and taking the opportunity to double up on both styles of dough the process from entry to ordering to exit took less than ten minutes with the total tab just € 7.50.
Saying yes to Powdered Sugar, the dusting added before toppings including molten Dark Chocolate and a hefty scoop of Speculoos Ice Cream, opening bites of the Brussels version showed a good crunch over light malt with the Ice Cream unexpectedly high quality considering the low pricetag, a taste of the Liege Waffle proving to be even better with the Sugar Pearls melted to form a sticky caramelized base beneath a texture pillow-​soft yet stretchy.

The waffle factory (the very small spot with the yellow sign) is the perfect waffle place. The waffles are just amazing — best combi: strawberry, banana, chocolate.

Delicious waffles for a decent price. The staff was nice. The seating areas and restroom could due with more cleaning. They had quite a bit of seating, which was nice. We enjoyed being able to leisurely eat our waffles and watch the goings on outside. I would definitely go back.

Advertise as being open until 20:00. We popped in at 19:30 last night to get dessert and the lady behind the counter just waved her hands and shouted «closed. Out» at us and pointed at the door. Lovely.

Excelente sorpresa en el corazón de Bruselas. Fuimos una semana y fue nuestro local de desayunos y de alguna cena. Por unos 5 € te tomas un gofre de más que decente tamaño y un chocolate/​café. Tienen la masa recién hecha y eso se nota. Calidad y variedad de gofres tanto dulces como salados. De Lieja (el clásico más blando) como de Bruselas (más crujiente). Yo siempre con nata y mi acompañante con Nutella. La opción de salados también es muy buena. Lo dicho, de lo mejorcito que hay. Añade un piso superior con vistas a una calle transitada y wifi gratis y redondea un sitio para mí de 10.

Been here twice in two days! Waffles are decently priced for the quality. The dough itself is chewy and sweet, and it’s toppings are tasty and not given in stingy portions. Decent preparation time, free wifi, restroom inside, lots of seating. Only thing that was a little inconvenient is that they do «takeaway only» by 6 pm or so, even though they close at 8 pm. We still sat and ate on the smaller ground floor area and they didn’t chase us away. Definitely would recommend! Currently they also have € 1 discounts if you bring in a physical paper coupon.

Mmmm good. After walking around the aroma from this long time waffle shop pulled us in.
Placed our order and watched them take the waffle from the press to our plates.
I had one with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. My wife one with chocolate, strawberry gelato and whipped cream. With a couple coffees our sweet tooth was satisfied.
Truly international, sitting outside with people from Bahrain, UK and Italy.

Awesome dark chocolate drizzle + waffle :) it’s less of the crunchy waffle and more of the thicker type. Eat in to avoid a mess of sauce/​syrup all over your hands and face lol.

Notre petit tour de Bruxelles s’est terminée par un dessert à la Belge. Rien de tel qu’une bonne gaufre pour achever un palais déjà bien ravis (cfr critique Kom Bij Ma).
Direction rue de l’Etuve (avec son Manneken Pis) où se côtoient plusieurs vendeurs de gaufres.
Le côté pratique de cette restauration est sa salle, on commande en bas et on peut manger sur place à l’étage avec Wifi et wc gratuit. Très pratique quand on est en groupe et qu’on veut déguster sa gaufre à son aise.
Les gaufres sont préparées sur place et on peut ajouter plusieurs ingrédients par dessus.
J’ai trouvé la gaufre de Liège très bonne (je suis un grand fan des gaufres de Liège) et la cuisson suffisante (un peu plus peut aussi). J’avais choisi la sauce au spéculoos et j’ai été ravi du mélange. La gaufre de Bruxelles était très bonne également, légère et croquante.
N’hésitez pas à prendre des couverts, cela facilite fortement la dégustation !

This is a great place for a waffle and a drink. A student of mine and I are traveling with Ef tours and stopped here for a quick bite and to rest our feet. They have some tables out front and more upstairs. The menu is somewhat limited, but they have a few specials that are great deals and the food is great! Try the waffle with spéculoos! They also have free wifi.

We went to this place after we saw the «lunchWAF» which were basically calzones with a waffle outside. I thought it was pretty tasty for a quick lunch option. They also provided a great sitting area with free wifi so that was a big score.
The only downside would be the price is kinda high for something so basic. But it is a tourist area and I haven’t seen this type of food before.
Also, good service.

Unlike the rest of the waffle shops, this one has a sitting area, and that’s why we went in there. I bet it’s mr as good as the rest f them, but it was decent.
We ordered a pack consisting on a waffle and a coffee and it was a good deal.
Oh, btw! You need to try the speculus waffle, it’s the thug in Belgium!

De visite à Bruxelles, j’ai bien évidemment voulu manger une gaufre, sauf que gros soucis durant mon séjour, il a plu tous les jours… Or la plupart des vendeurs de gaufres, né proposent qu’à emporter.
Je suis donc tombée sur cette boutique par hasard, même si les gaufres né sont pas artisanales, le point positif est que l’on peut s’assoir. Le choix des gaufres est vaste, sucré, salé, aux fruits, au spéculos, campagnarde, au kebab (non je né plaisante pas).
Mon choix s’est porté sur: une gaufre liégeoise, sauce chocolat, avec de la chantilly et des fraises. On va pas se mentir, ce n’était pas la gaufre du siècle, mais elle répondait totalement à mes attentes du moment. De plus, elle était exactement au même prix que les gaufres que l’on pouvait prendre à emporter dans la même rue.
Waffle factory propose également des menues pour 7euros ce qui est très raisonnable lorsque l’on veut manger sur le pouce. De plus, le service est aimable et efficace!

Friendly staff, but the «meal» waffles weren’t as good as the Belgium Waffles with Dark Chocolate. The place is deceivingly small. There is always a queue with very little seating upstairs and a tiny bathroom. I do recommend the belgium waffle w/​dark chocolate only. Avoid the Camparde (?) meal. Not great. See pics.

I enjoyed the waffles (Nutella and cream, and mozzarella). Servers are kind. The location is great.
Waffles are served with lots of chocolate and cream but very tiny forks: they are hard to eat if you are on the go.
Prices are good.

We’d been looking for a really good waffle place all throughout Belgium but it seems so many use fake chocolate sauce rather than real chocolate and very few offer fruit toppings! The Waffle Factory seemed to offer both, so in we went! They have some good options on the menu including chocolate filled waffles. Overall though it was a standard waffle. It was nice enough, cheap, and almost like a fast food waffle. It’s nothing to write home about but it was decent enough. They use proper melted Belgium chocolate and had fresh strawberries so can’t complain!

Vraiment pas convaincu.
Le principe de départ d’offrir un vaste choix de gaufres chaudes salées et sucrées m’avait de suite plu mais c’était avant de les goutter…
Prenez un morceau de carton, plongez-​le dans du bouillon pour lui donner un peu de goût, servez et vous aurez le même résultat que les gaufres qu’ils proposent chez «The Waffle Factory».
Non, je n’y retournerai pas.

Speculoo with the waffle is a must try if you’ve never had speculoo (the spread).
4 € for a flavored waffle, a little expensive but it fills you up.
I would come back.

I wasn’t a huge fan of their sandwich style waffles, but their liege waffles were wonderful! Very near mannequin piss in the just off the central square. Free wifi and WCs are a plus for those traveling.

El gofre te lo hacen al momento. A mi me gustó el normal, solo con azúcar, y lo acompañé con un «hot chocolate».
El local tiene planata baja, piso superior y una terraza pequeña. Dispone de wifi.

Great waffle place in the touristy part of Brussels, right by the Grand Place. When you peek through the window, you can see the baker making fresh waffle dough. It was great to watch them make my waffle from start to finish.
I got the waffle with chocolate syrup, nutella, ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream on top. I know it’s a lot but it was dessert time and I earned it after hiking around Brugge.
It was delicious, hot, perfectly cooked and the toppings just made my evening a bit sweeter. It’s a great little stop for something sweet. I didn’t try their savory waffles, but I can definitely vouch for the sweet kind.

This was the first place I went to to grab a bite after landing in Brussels. There was a line out the door, so I assumed only good things. As I approached the cashier to order, I noticed that the only people around me were fellow American tourists, mainly college kids enjoying the summer free from class. I’m not a fan of sweet waffles so I went with a savory option, the Kebab.
Meh.
It was okay. Not a whole lot of lamb, way too much cheese, a dab of onion all stuffed into a waffle. Perfect drunk food, not so much the case if you’re a late 20-​something with an irritable bowel and a case of jet lag.

Bön forcément vu que je suis française, mon avis est surement pas le meilleur. Niveau connaissance en gaufre j’ai pas vraiment de comparaison :) .
Bön forcément Waffle factory c’est une chaîné donc on en trouve partout et à tous les coins de rue, donc jusqu’ici c’est pas très dur d’en trouver ^_​^
Pour ce qui est du choix, aux fruits, au chocolat, au miel … le choix y est, et le goût n’est pas mauvais, même pas du tt (bon j’adore ça aussi) .Point positif les gaufres à 1 €, parfait pour les petits creux .
Je né demande qu’à connaitre les bons plans gaufres de Bruxelles, avis aux Unilocaleurs.

This place is annoyingly crowded. A tour group was in here when we went. They have two floors. You have to order downstairs and find a table if you wish to eat here which I don’t recommend. There were people next to us who were just hanging out and didn’t order/​eat anything… they were there for the free wifi.
The place is smokey and hot eventhough it’s cold out. The ventilation system sucks. You’ll leave smelling like smoke.
But do they have good waffles? Well, yes but not as good as Dandoy’s a few steps away. However, they have Nutella and Speculoos waffles here. Not only do they have Brussels and Liege waffles, they also have waffine which is like a thin waffle with filling in the middle.
As an afternoon snack, we tried a Brussels waffle with Nutella, strawberries and banana; a waffine with Nutella; and a waffine with Speculoos. They were all good. I finished the 2 waffines and half of the waffle — I had to take a late dinner. So heavy!

Great place to grab a waffle if you’re a tourist to the area: decent selection, loads of sugar, plenty of seating, free wifi, English-​speaking staff, and warm drinks.
Waffles were fresh, and you can choose your waffle «style» (thick, sugar-​filled, or light and less sweet), as well as toppings (from fruit to nutella to powdered sugar like the locals).
Do keep in mind that this is a chain. It’s easy, takes credit card, and the staff is extremely friendly. However, if you’re looking for «the best waffle you’ve ever had,» it’s well worth peeking down a side-​street to a smaller shop for the «real» thing.

Certes des gaufres dans ce quartier on en trouve à tous les coins de rue mais ici on peut s’assoir et se réchauffer pour déguster son goûter. C’est le gros plus de cette adresse.
Les gaufres sont bonnes mais pas transcendantes. A mon goût la mienne manquait de pépites de sucre qui caractérisent la liégeoise mais le Nutela était en quantité généreuse.
Je me suis quand même régalée comme à chaque fois avec cette spécialité belge !

Nach unserer Ankunft haben wir zum Frühstück hier Waffeln gegessen. Und die waren richtig lecker, denn sie waren gefüllt mit Schinken und Käse bzw. mit Rucola und Schinken. Dazu einen schönen Kaffee und fertig war das reichhaltige Frühstück.
Den 5. Stern hat leider das Raumklima verschlungen, denn das gesamte Lokal war leicht vernebelt von den Waffeleisen und es roch schon etwas nach verbranntem Fett.
Fazit: Wenn die Lüftung noch verbessert wird, ist dieser Laden absolute Spitze!

Je met 4 étoiles à ce lieu pour l’originalité des «waffines» salées et sucrées!
C’est une chaîné certes, les gaufres sont aussi bonnes qu’ailleurs, rien de plus, le petit plus est qu’il n’y a pas beaucoup d’endroit où l’on peut trouver des waffines (petites gaufres plates fourrées), donc j’aime bien ce changement!
Les prix sont les mêmes qu’ailleurs, il y a une salle à l’étage qui est bien pratique en hiver car la plupart des vendeurs de gaufres n’ont pas d’espace pour savourer sa gaufre au chaud!

Waffle Factory, c’est une chaîné certes, mais les gaufres y sont faites minute et les tarifs abordable.

This is a chain that serves sweet and savory waffles and coffee. You can choose from at least two types of waffles:
— Liège — what most people think when they hear «Belgian waffles». Thicker texture and sweet, with irregular edges.
— Bruxelles — A very light waffle. Larger than the Liège and rectangular in shape. I prefer this one because it has a lighter texture and isn’t so overwhelming.
Choose from powdered sugar, whipped cream, chocolate, strawberries, bananas, etc. for toppings.
They also have some lunch waffles that are savory and a variety of standard coffee drinks. Pricing is a little expensive, but hey, it’s Europe. probably at least 5 euros for a waffle, depending on toppings, and around 3 – 4 for coffee.
Overall, a decent waffle place for a tourist!
